(S19) - PT1 - A Fresh Start - bex - 12-05-2019 As Marcella Toriki packed her bags at the end of season 18, she knew that the off-season ahead offered a chance to choose her destiny. There is no fresher start than jumping in to free agency and finding a new place to call home for the season. There's also nothing more terrifying than sitting before a blank page when you know it is up to you to start writing the next chapter. But Marcella Toriki is not one to let a little bit of fear stand in her way. Toriki found a way to mix business with pleasure as she met with interested teams while on her Free Agent Food Tour with Bubba Thumper. From poutine in Yellowknife to cheesesteaks with her Philly friends, Toriki chowed down across North America while gathering the information she needed to make her choice. Soul food met soul searching and tex-mex became the perfect accompaniment to late-night conversations as she sorted through the options in front of her. But a choice was made, and when the road trip was done, the rising star running back was ready to unpack her bags in the city of New Orleans. Settling in is never perfectly easy, but the off-season gave her time to find her footing in a new place and as part of a new team. Reunited with her fellow Norfolk alums, Bjorn Ironside and David Rector, she felt ready to connect with new faces as well, letting the team show her the city. While the choices made to get there may have been hard ones, Marcella Toriki could not be happier to have her fresh start in the Big Easy. (S19) - PT1 - A Fresh Start - Eco - 12-05-2019 After having a mediocre season (in which we made it all the way to the NSFC Championship and lost), Baltimore Hawks had to regroup and prepare hard for the upcoming season. Our offseason prep started with the draft. Everybody thinks that the Hawks trade away their picks for free agents, however we actually picked three very key players in the past two drafts. Since we didn't get any free agents this offseason, our offseason training focus was to get those new Hawks integrated into our game plan. Our latest addition to the team, Stevie Vassallo, had to train even harder during this offseason to make sure he knows what he is doing. Since we are an "old" team, we had countless drills where our veteran players showed our new players how it is done in Baltimore. Our old time players also had a lot of things to learn because after losing one of our key players to free agency, we had to change our pass heavy offense to a more balanced style. I think the biggest challenge with that was to get Corvo to stop passing the ball. That dude has a monstrous arm and loves to use it, however we really need our backs to be involved more this season. (S19) - PT1 - A Fresh Start - BWIII - 12-05-2019 Emondov Emoji didn't really need to do anything to forget last season because he's always been able to shed the skin of the past like a snake and move on to the next stage. As soon as the final second ticked off the clock for the 13th game of the 18th season of the NSFL, Emoji had no more feelings toward that year, but instead was already focused on season 19. So from that standpoint he did exactly what he does every offseason and that was get back in the lab. Of course he took some time off to travel with his family and relax, but once that was over he was ready to get back to work. He went back and studied film, see where he went wrong and try to learn from his admittedly god awful last season. For the most part it looked like he was pressing most of the time trying to will his young team to victories, but it didn't work and his own game suffered from it. The gym was also a friend to him as he continued to put in the strength and conditioning work needed to reach the top of his game. Even though he's considered one of the best corners in the NSFL, Emoji's work is never finished (S19) - PT1 - A Fresh Start - karl - 12-05-2019 shl s51 pt2 claim (S19) - PT1 - A Fresh Start - hihihi_62 - 12-05-2019 Ultimini 18 was a bitter end to the Wraiths season last year. It was a bit of a miracle run last year during my first NSFL season that ended in heartbreak. Immediately after that game all the boys were sitting in the locker room hanging their heads. Ryan Leaf Jr was so upset that he curled up in the fetal position, balling his eyes out and begging for his mommy. That was a tough way to end the year and from that moment on the Wraiths knew we needed a big offseason to help us get over that hump. At that very moment the team made a huge decision...instead of us all going home for the offseason to see our friends and families we decided to stay in the frozen white tundra to ensure that heartbreak didn't happen again. The entire team began a rigorous northern workout regime highlighted by reindeer wrangling and igloo building (ice and snow are much heavier than you think). The boys lived on a diet of seal and Arctic hare which are both very high in protein which helped us maximize muscle mass. This lifestyle was tough and although most of us thrived one notable former Wraith, Leaf Jr couldn't handle the hard work and he caved and left the team in free agency. With Leaf gone the team was able to fully focus with no distractions. This is a damn good team this year. (S19) - PT1 - A Fresh Start - C9Van - 12-05-2019 Laszlo Forty-Two does what he wants honestly. He owns this really cool mansion in the rocky mountains that him and a few cultists visit or live in and inside of that is a gym. A pretty intense gym. He is high up enough to have the oxygen be getting quite thin but that does not matter to Lazzy as he will still intensely work out or go mountain climbing. This off-season he took his QB Wolfie McDummy (Damn near by force) to work out with him to get him sorted and ready for this up coming season as The Laz is done with his shit. After a lot of tears, blood and tears the work out seems to be doing the trick as they are now 2-0! This did actually bring the two a lot closer. They did have a small rivalry when they entered since he was a Wide Receiver originally and now as team mates they managed to bond with each other. You get the feeling Wolfie is still slightly scared of Laszlo but that might be because he has seen him destroy collar bones like a twig. Understandable. Regardless, this will help the duo on the field as they are starting to really hit the prime seasons soon. The Bubba42 Effect has many pieces to the puzzle and a great QB is definitely 1 of them. After a very controversial signing with the San Jose SaberCats Ennis was reunited with former Kansas City Coyotes gm Rradum and former Coyotes safety Tyron Brackenridge. Also joining him in the same day was former teammate Action Jackson who played with Ennis in their rookie season at New Orleans. Even with San Jose’s loss of star running back Marcella T?riki the SaberCats were feeling better then they’ve felt since they had Star Quarterback Joilet Christ. 3 nights before the leagues opening weekend San Jose help a celebration party for all current players and retired Sabercats to help with Morale going into Arizona. With the new editions of Free Agents and the NSFL draft the Sabercats had a party that lasted all throughout the night. The only catch of the party is you’d be getting up for practice at 7 o’clock in the morning that would be your toughest of the whole offseason as a way to show you made it through the offseason and you’re ready to play. Going into week 1 the Sabercats has all the morale in the world (S19) - PT1 - A Fresh Start - speculadora - 12-06-2019 I think it is the key in any title defense to not ride too high off the success of the previous season. That is the challenge the Otters faced this off-season. We are very much aware of the fact that we needed some things to break very favorably our way to win each of the last two, so we can't assume that the next is given, even as we continue to improve. If anything the Wraiths have only improved this season, adding star wide receiver Sunnycursed to their roster. Yes, they have some aging players, but that is not a team that is going to fall off the map any time soon. Arizona was still a very formidable opponent last season, and looks to be in similarly good shape this season. New Orleans is a team that will soon ascend to the ranks of the league's most competitive. The Colorado Yeti are in a similar boat. The Baltimore Hawks are still a factor. Austin is a young team who should only improve on last season's success. There are perhaps more threats in the league right now than there have ever been. With that in mind, the most we can do is just focus on improving ourselves so that we can take any of them toe-to-toe when the time comes. So our players did their best to forget last season, and hopefully Season 17 feels like a distant memory at this point. Instead, we tried to dedicate all of the energy and exuberance from winning into just getting better. A three-peat hasn't been achieved since Season 6, so we have an uphill climb to pull it off now.
