I am a brand new player so I have never won an ultimus, well I haven’t even played in a game yet. I would imagine if I won the Ultimus the tradition would start as soon as the game is over with the tradition of everyone kissing the trophy as it is being presented to our team. To me this signifies all of our hard work being rewarded and the togetherness of the team. The next thing up would be the champagne in the locker room. Popping some bottles and spraying it all over the place would start a long victory celebration that would last through the night. We would take the party to well an after party where the celebrations would continue through the night as we all enjoy the accomplishment that we achieved. Probably my favorite tradition would be the parade for our fans in our home city. I imagine the streets are packed with people shouting our names and children looking up to us and making it their goal to be here too one day. Of course you can’t forget the trip to Disney World. Being able to look into the camera and being able to say I am going to Disney World has always been one of my childhood dreams. Even though I am nowhere near any of these traditions I am going to work my butt off so I can follow them like all those before me.

It is an undeniable fact that every Ultimus champion must take to the NSFL discord and flaunt their worth to every other player in the league, the moment it happens. I can't possibly imagine a team that wouldn't do this. Taking your tirade around the channels is the digital equivalent of a triumphant march, or a field-side celebration. The players and the fans alike, all basking in this one moment of Ultimus glory. This tradition is not even restricted to the players of that particular team either. It can be shared among all the players that rooted for the team up to that moment, pushing that team forward through the playoffs, with the morale support. Additionally, rivals of the losing team can rally up and take the opportunity to taunt the losing team, all adding to the chaos that ensues. It's a wonderful discourse of players around the world, uniting under this self-created league. Having said this, I understand that some players do not enjoy the hectic party life, Discord chat parties included. I am one of those people. However, these players that do not participate are not going to detract from the activity in anyway, and so the visible side of the tradition is unaffected by them. Thus, the tradition lives, will live, and will last, for years to come.

As a newcomer to the league, and to American football in general, Otis Allen is not entirely familiar with the celebration traditions of past Ultimus champions. Until he had entered the DSFL, Otis had never really kept up with any of the Ultimus championships, and always turned off the TV after the clock hit zero. Following the outside aspects of the game never really appealed to him; he assumed the players would do as most athletes do and pop some champagne in the locker room.
When Otis entered the DSFL last year, playing on a temporary contract with the Tijuana Luchadores, he had the opportunity to see the Ultimini championship celebrated. The problem was that it wasn’t Otis doing the celebrating. The Minnesota Grey Ducks had beaten the Luchadores in the championship, taking the celebration opportunity away from Allen and his team.
This upset loss did give Allen the opportunity to consider how he would have celebrated his championship had he been in the shoes of a Grey Ducks player. Sure, he would have done the classic locker room celebration of putting on the ski goggles and popping champagne. He would do the parades and the fan greetings, in hopes that that would showcase his appreciation for the folks that supported his team’s road to victory. But what he’d look forward to most would be a glass of wine, a bubble bath, and relishing in the sweet comfort of victory.

Like some others, I'm a DSFL rookie and haven't won anything. But if (or when) the Wolves and I win the Ultimini, we'll probably set an all-time record for most sacks sent in one server. We're the underdog. A bot team, 0-14 last season. That kind of comeback is unknown. But we've corralled a good group of people that put their heart into the game, and you'll see our passion on the rap sheets that come from that night. We'll call upon all of our alumni, then get absolutely trashed and party in a Seawolf submarine. Then we'll all probably end up at a Bojangles, crying and cheering. Eventually, as the Norfolk hegemony grows, the Bojangles Ultimini MVP award will be officialized. By the time we hit our 5th straight championship, the Ultmini will be referred to as the Norfolk Best Folk Sack Bowl. But it'll all go back to a tradition. A team, a game, a sack, a Bojangles. If I win an Ultimus, I might just go to Shake Shack and get burgers and shakes as well. Nothing better to christen a championship than some delicious fast food. While this is all very hypothetical, a Norfolk win will taste very very good.

In the Ultimus, to the victor goes the spoils.

The champions love to bask in the glow of their title.

Many teams build outrageous floats and celebrate with a victory parade throughout the city streets.

Millions would be expected to attend the parade, which usually begins early in the morning and doesn't end until the break of dawn.
Fans will travel from all over to celebrate with the champs.
They will travel by land, by sea, and by air to take part in history.

Many leave their children home and party like it's 2199. Why not?
You never know when it may happen again, so you have to enjoy it while you can.

The Ultimus parade culminates with a celebration on the steps of City Hall, as the Mayor congratulates the winning team.

The winning city will cancel school on the day of the parade and many public offices will be closed as well.
The fans play in a big role in a winning season, and they are rewarded with the parade.

Winning the Ultimus doesn't happen too often, and sometimes it takes years or decades to reach the ultimate prize.

When a team finally reaches the precipice, the celebration is a release that is usually long overdue.

Having never completed a SFL season in either league, let alone never winning a Ultimas or Ultimini, I cannot speak specifically to the traditions for champions. Even in the defending champion Grey Ducks locker room we do not speak of what comes after the final game, every week our focus is solely on winning the game in front of us. But I do know, should that glorious day come after our hard work, what I will say if I hoist the trophy some day.

"I'm going to momma's house."

This is not a roadside diner in Santa Monica that I loved when I first moved here, that's Mel's House and you can bet I'll go there too. I'm not talking about a club that I got banned for life from for throwing a paparazzi out a second story window, that's Casa de Mama, and I'll likely go there to flaunt my hardware.

The first thing I will do if I win it all is board a plane and fly back to my home country, where I will rent an expensive car and drive out to the countryside, to the farm that I was raised on and grew strong on. To the house that my drunk of a father gambled away and my mother had to work many jobs to get back from the bank. I will ride up to momma's house, take her to the bank and pay off her debt. If I am to be here in America playing the football I want to be sure my family is secure at home.

And for any other championship I earn I will again return to momma's house to show to her how the love she raised me with and the work ethic she taught me have paid off as big as they can.

I have never won an Ultimus in my NSFL career, but I hablve 2 Ultiminis to my name as Luchador. First thing we did was take shots of tequila out of it. Every player, coach, management and staffer got a shot. It was great. Then we placed the trophy in the lobby of our training center and allowed the public to come in and take selfies with it. If there are players that are at the training facility, they usually will take the time to get in on some of those fan selfies themselves. After the photo ops, the team will then come together and lead a procession from the training facility to the stadium. We were joined by a mariachi band for the journey. Once we arrived, there was a wrestling ring set up in the middle of the field where we hosted a Lucha Libre tournament for a packed stadium with the Ultimini hoisted high above the action.

We hand out vouchers, one per fan and you have to be of legal drinking age, for one shot of tequila to be taken at the end of the Lucha Libre tournament. As the last match winds down, everyone readies their shot, and as soon as the match ends, the whole stadium shouts "Vive Los Luchadores" and takes the shot. Great times.

You hear it every year in the NFL after the Superbowl: "I'm going to Disneyworld!" I mean what a manufactured joke. Look if you got kids, by all means take them to Disneyworld it's a magical place. But if you're a football player, a grown man, not only is going to Disneyworld by yourself a bit odd but there's way better ways to celebrate. How about a trip to Vegas? I guarantee you more than half of NSFL champions have headed to Vegas after winning the Ultimus. It's a party there 24/7 and how often do you get to cut loose as a professional football player? Not long after the season ends you gotta start ramping back up to training and the media always has it's eye on you. Of course, if I'm picking a place to go to have a party Vegas isn't bad but I'd take a trip down to New Orleans personally. That's where the party is really at. At least the party I want to go to. If Osiris wins and Ultimus I think he'd just want to get away from it all for a while: football, the media, heck just people in general. He's probably going to find a quiet tropical getaway and just leave everything behind for a month or so.

To date, I have never had the experience of winning an Ultimus or Ultimini title, but I can imagine what it would be like on each of the teams I have ever been on. To the team that first drafted me, Norfolk, I can only say that the party would be pretty crazy. I do not know nor would I even be able to predict what would or could happen, I just know that the SeaWolves know how to throw down. Next, in San Jose, I imagine things would get a little, well, hazy, as we indulge on the Bay Area's finest herbal delights. Maybe we would spend some time on the beach. Moving over to Baltimore, we would probably just keep the celebration indoors, since the streets are not that safe to be going out at night intoxicated. But we could order some DC escorts or something, they have got the high end stuff on stock for the politicians. And rounding it off now that I am in Chicago, I think we would order a whole bunch of different deep dish pizzas, some ice cold brews and grub out on some of the finest Chicago has to offer. Of course, some of my teammates might go a bit harder than me, with trips and cash spending and whatnot, but I prefer to just have a close team celebration.
