That's the "official timezone" for the league. Rules That Need Fixing - GoonerBear - 04-17-2020 I'd recommend a leave of absence rule. We had to write one in SHL after the fact and it was a mess. We had to cobble together a ruling based on the existing framework in the meantime, and the ultimate result left several fuming. I don't know if it has ever happened here, though it's something I think is likely you'd have to whip out someday. In non-technical terms, -Allow a GM, HO member, job head or League employee to leave for a short amount of time/work cycles without having to resign and reapply. They must let HO or their head know a reasonable amount of time in advance (or whenever they can if they get short notice.) -Determine or set up a means to determine who fulfills their duties in the meantime, if they even need an interim replacement. For GMs, the Co-GM can step in. For League employees, there's already the backup system. For HO and job heads, whomever HO feels is best. -If anything happens while they're gone that they caused, they can still be disciplined upon their return. -If they don't come back a certain time/number of cycles after they said they'd be back, treat them like they abandoned the job. -If they have to go due to an emergency, the appropriate HO member or job head can relax or negotiate terms. -Set up compensation for interim jobholders. But basically it would be a ton of work to implement, not only that but drafts fluctuate in size a ton, which makes awarding the pick even harder. While the past few drafts have been huge, it definitely used to fluctuate from 2 rounds to like 10 rounds over and over again. I was typing up why I thought this was a great idea and how to implement it, but then I realized there are so many potential issues. I think the value of trading picks would be a nightmare. I imagine this rule would lead to a large number of compensatory picks sometimes, which would mean that a later round draft pick all of a sudden has almost no value.
