My favorite highlight reel moment was probably the ending of the Sarasota vs Colorado game in week 15. Yes, it was very recent, but I still think this game probably had one of the most bizarre endings this entire season. Let me set up the scene first. The 11-3 Sarasota Sailfish were hosting the 9-5 Yeti. Now, both Sarasota and the Yeti only had one loss at home/road, respectively. So what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? This. Colorado got up early, going up 17-3 after a 48 yard TD catch by William Lim with 9 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. On the next drive, Sarasota scored, aided by 2 big penalties. Then on Colorado's next drive, Caliban threw a pick, giving Sarasota another chance to score before the half. They didn't waste the opportunity, tying up the game before half on a 28 yard TD catch from Witheblock. The game was tied 17-17 going into half, both of these heavyweight teams trading blows. After trading TD drives in the 3rd, it was still tied, but at 24-24 going into the 4th. Sarasota went on an 8 minute drive to get a FG, leaving only 5 minutes on the clock. They went up 3, and Colorado punted immediately, and Sarasota had the ball on the Colorado 44, with 3 and a half minutes left, up 3. It didn't look good for Colorado. Boss threw a terrible pass and got picked however! Ruschmann brought it back to the 12 yard line, and Lim caught a 12 yard TD pass in the endzone on the very next play. Now, Colorado was up 31-27 with little less than 3 minutes to play. Now, this is where things start to get crazy. On the first play of Sarasota's next drive, Witheblock manages to get behind the defense and is open for a 75 yard TD strike! Sarasota goes up 34-31 with a minute and a half to play. On Colorado's drive, Jenkins does the exact same thing! A catch and run for 75 yards and a TD. There were 3 TDs in 3 minutes! Crazy game and crazy ending. That last pass to Jenkins will be remembered forever as a miracle play for Colorado to keep their playoff hopes alive.

What a crazy year.

I was STOKED when my older brother started 3 years ago and got drafted after his first season. I felt like all our childhood wrestling had paid off for him, and I was hoping to join him someday. After putting in the work in the gym and the cafeteria (gotta get those lbs added), I was excited to join this season as a rookie to see if I could do the same. Ernest was the perfect older brother - he guided me through lifting sessions, walked me through how to talk to recruiters, got me a Thera gun - the WORKS. But the one thing he couldn't walk me through was my first game... BOYYYY was I nervous - although I was pumped to play and see how far my talents could take me, I was worried I wouldn't be good enough.

And DID YOU SEE ME! 8 whole pancakes my FIRST game out the gate. Honestly y’all, I was hoping for 4 on my debut game, but I showed up, worked hard, and could not have been prouder of my performance. Though let’s be real, the true highlight that day was getting to facetime Ernest after the game and tell him “I’m coming for ya.”

Although its still TBD, I hope to see him in the big leagues soon!

My favorite play so far of the season is one of my only noteworthy plays as well. A far cry from last season, but still a solid season. This play comes from the weirdest game of the season. Out 8-5 Loss to the salamanders.

Towards the beginning of the second quarter, our drive stalled out and Berlin forced a punt. Sidekick pinned the Salamanders DEEP in their own territory. I’m talkin 6 yard line kinda deep. The score is currently 3-0 Butchers. So Berlin has it first and ten from the six. We had planned for two things, either a dive in the A-gap or a pass. So I crept up to shoot the gap from a safety position while the linebackers covered. Now I’ve sacked the quarterback PLENTY of times in my career so far, but man when I hit that A-Gap and saw it was a pass, and the lineman neglected to even touch me coming in, my eyes lit up like the Fourth of July. I had Kaepercolin dead to rights. Once he saw me coming it was too late, BAM lowered my showered and delivered a perfect hit. I could hear the air leave his lungs. SAFETY. The Butchers would take the lead 5-0. Then the rest of the game was slow with The final score of 8-5. It hurts that this is my favorite stat because we lost, but my history with Berlin is partial to blame. For some reason the sim favors me against Berlin. I am Polamalu against the ravens when we play Berlin and Kaepercolin is my Joe Flacco. My first game against them I had 2 INTs, a sack, 2 pass defense and a touchdown. Second game I had my worst game against them with 5 tackles. Third time I had 6 tackles, a sack and a pass defense and a safety. My fourth career game against them I had 3 tackles and a sack. I have gotten a sack in every game but one against them and just tend to make big plays so my favorite time of the year is when we take on Berlin.

The game of the season absolutely has to come down to Melvin Murder-Moose, Week 11 against the Baltimore Hawks with a positively proposterous performance punctuated perfectly with precision defense. Murder-Moose opened the stat line with five tackles, not world beating but tackles are merely the seasoning on the performance, the salt and pepper. They also had THREE sacks to go along with this, the main course of this delicious defense Wellington. Three sacks is absolutely nothing to be sniffed at, a powerful showing for sure, scything through what remains of the Hawks Offensive Line. Albeit their decimation certainly won't have helped stifle the powerful Moose. However with Murder-Moose also recording an interception in this game it would appear if the OL had managed to hold their mettle for even a few seconds it would only result in Melvin pouncing on whatever lame duck was thrown in the direction of the secondary. Not to be finished there the Moose threw a Safety in for good measure. There's nothing that would complete a performance quite like the rarest scoring play in football and a two pointer is a nice way for them to come 33% of the way to matching the scoring performance from Baltimore in this tilt.

Damn, I really wish I can have access to the rookie server right now since I didn't really watch the games but there is this one game that a few of my teammates pinged me about saying that I was godly in that game so I decided to check it out. I see the game and holy sheesh the defense totally forgot to cover me. It was the New York Silverbacks vs the Berlin Fire Salamanders and me of course watching a movie totally forgets about the game. Its okay though because before the game its like I like I knew we were going to beat them because well Berlin is literally ass. These past few games I have not really been doing nothing that great. I was either catching catches for a total of 20 yards a game or dropping every pass that gets thrown to me. So about a hour after the game I check what happened and see that I HAD A 64 YARD TOUCHDOWN. That is probably the first time that that has happened to me in my whole career here in the NSFL/ISFL so I was honestly shocked. Everyone in the Silverbacks chat just praising me which I have not really been used to because normally I would be the one praising others for their performance. So what was my favorite highlight of the season? I'd say my whole performance was a whole highlight in general but if I had to pick one, I think that 64 yard touchdown was the highlight was the best of the season. Obviously there are probably better highlights but to me, against a bad rival, that touchdown was one of my favorite touchdowns in my career.

This season has definitely had more exciting moments for me and my teams than any other season since I joined the league. As GM in Minnesota, there was a HUGE moment when Captain John Price intercepted a pass in the waning seconds of the 4th quarter while the Portland Pythons were in the redzone. They were preparing to take the lead, and Snowy snatched the chance right out from under them! It was amazing. At the ISFL level, my own player, Tyron Shields, actually had a few games at the beginning of the season that were very exciting. On more than one occasion, my player got a big interception, or a big pass deflection, or made a quick 4th down tackle right before the player had gotten a first down. It's really cool to see that, because my player hasn't had a very great career thus far, even though I've been earning well! My teammate Osiris Firestorm-Fjord, user HalfEatenOnionBagel, has had a similar string of game saving plays. I can't remember the exact game, but I believe that I remember a game saving interception that was made by him in the final 2 minutes while the other team was driving. He's one of the best defenders in the entire league, and he has been for a while, so it's no surprise that he has a knack for making big plays when they matter most.

If the second game of this season was followed up by more like it, Rando Cardrissian would be an MVP candidate. In the second game of the season, the SaberCats won a barnburner 45-40 over the Baltimore Hawks. Cardrissian led the way in rushing with 201 yards off 8 carries for 2 TD, well worthy of Offensive Player of the Game. Carrying the day (pun intended) was two touchdown runs of 67 and 62 yards in the second quarter to push the advantage to 11 points at the break. Both feats of speed, agility, and a little bit of stiff-arming to make it all the way down. Later on, he dang-near hauled in a third TD before being stopped 9 yards short and a turnover squandering the opportunity. He also put the game on ice after catching the onside kick attempt from Baltimore, lest they get any last chance to steal the game away with only a few seconds left.

An absolute boom of a game with three major ground-gaining runs, a handful of decent runs, and all around, helping make a difference when the team needed all hands on deck in an offensive slugfest. It's just a shame he has not had a game like that since. At the time of writing, in the 14 games outside that one, he has 431 yards on 142 carries for 7 TD plus 34 catches for 234 yards. Not too terrible, though not quite enough to pull the Cats through in other games through a 7-8 campaign that will see San Jose miss the postseason.
