Was just saying this earlier today - department heads should probably have a vote, particularly if it impacts their area. Simmers have a rep, so why not the other teams as well.

Also to steal Mori's coolness, Baltimore will also happily explain all of our votes to anyone that would like to know how we voted.

Also I'm glad we were able to pass some really solid new rules.

Imagine reading this thread and having "people are mad at SD" be your chief takeaway

I think the rule to not let Gms be both department head and GM was also there to eventually let Department heads vote, since rn you have people who would have 3-4 votes if department heads could vote.

Since Mag was too nice to push back on @iStegosauruz's comments regarding how this issue "isn't an indication that individuals don't take their jobs seriously," I guess I will. As I pointed out earlier in this thread, the discourse that HO and GMs have during rules discussions is bad and a joke rule proposal being on the ballot and announced in the summit thread is a symptom of that. While I don't think the blame lies on any one person or party individually, I do think that in general we (including myself) probably don't take the job of discussing and voting on rules as seriously as we should, and I would appreciate if HO and everyone else involved in these discussions could take some time to think through how to improve it.

I take offense to this. I think our (your and my) discussion in leadership chat was a pretty intelligent and civil one. I'm not actually super offended of course, but these comment threads do make it seem like I'm supposed to be. Either way, I get your point, but I think its painting with a brush that's just a bit too broad. There are some HO that take rules summit times very seriously and love to engage in productive discussion about it. I do think there might be some ways to improve the rules discussion overall, and plan to put them in my answers to the off-season survey. Hopefully you do the same!

Yes! I also thought we had some very good discussion. By no means do I think it is all bad, but I think in general it could definitely be improved and I wanted to make sure that that point came across in the thread because I thought it had been lost a bit.

Yeah I still don’t know what half these rules even mean. How do I break them?
