RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - Mavfatha - 07-28-2021 In an alternate life, Icebox still would've been very close to the game of football, just working in a different capacity. If he had slowed down on the strength training, conditioning, and other extra necessary things needed to become a football player and dedicated his time to hitting the books instead, he could've realized the other dream instilled in him by his football-loving parents - training to become a member of a football team's front office. Instead of just squeaking by in school, he could've had great grades and worked at finding an opportunity with a team in the ISFL, DSFL, NFL, or even a smaller league out of the country like the Canadian Football League - anywhere that would give him an internship-type position to get things started, or maybe even taking on the role of a scout instead. In any case, this new path would keep him close to the game that he and his family have always loved, just a different approach to things. From my understanding at least, it can be quite the slog to work your way all the way up through this system to eventually become a GM or whatever the scouting equivalent would be. But by approaching the situation with the same dedication and fortitude as Icebox has displayed on the football field fighting things out in the trenches, he could certainly adapt to this new path through life and come out on top. RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - qWest - 07-29-2021 Tatsu Nakamura was always a good student, but as the son of a professional athlete and an athlete himself from a young age it was clear to him and his family that his best path to happiness and greatness would be in sports. In his earliest years in Japan and even after moving to America he put most of his focus into kendo and baseball. It wasn't until he found the sport in middle school that he found a love and passion for football. It was already clear to him at that point that he didn't share his father's love for baseball, and though he keeps up with kendo even to this day, there isn't a solid professional avenue in the sport. If he hadn't found football, he could very well have chosen to explore other combat sports, channeling his skill in kendo into a new but similar sport. Combining his natural speed and precision that we know him for in this reality into that focus and burst that he loved in kendo, Tatsu Nakamura would begin training and pursuing a professional career in fencing. I'd bargain that he'd likely find himself favoring saber and would eventually compete for his birth nation of Japan to bring the country their first Olympic gold in the sport. RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - .simo - 07-29-2021 What would big Wendell Sailor have done if not for football? This is a question he has asked himself a lot over the years. Looking back he grew up with a few people that were kind of bad role models for him and very easily could he have been caught with some illicit smoking substances and ended up behind bars. That would have been a very different life than one of the top QB prospects in the DSFL. If he managed to avoid that though and not make it to play professional football what else could have happened. Big Dell always appreciated the slower pace of life. He loved to mow his yard and look after the grounds so maybe something like a greens keeper at a golf course would have been a good job for him to look at. Just potter around at your own pace and be mowing the fairways and rolling the greens. Just being alone with your thoughts. If that wasn't it he also could have become a high school football coach. He has spent a lot of time in the game of football so to be able to give back to a school community would have been a nice thing to be able to do and help bring through the next generation of football stars. RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - Alcott - 07-29-2021 While Cole Maxwell's first love is certainly the game of football, joining the ISFL actually wasn't Plan A for his life. During his years at the University of Oklahoma Cole studied engineering and played on the football team for the scholarship opportunity to pay for his education, fully expecting to enter the workforce in either the gas and oil or the aerospace field after his graduation. Instead Cole was able to make big waves on the football field and made the decision to pursue that passion, but in the alternate universe where he was in fact actually quite bad at the sport then Cole would've followed his interests in math and science to complete his senior year at Oklahoma and receive his diploma and degree. The job market would be a whirlwind of interviews and self reflection, as Cole would need to decide between creating a career in the sky working in aerospace or underground working in oil and gas. Eventually the bright blue of the skies would win out and Cole would go on to enjoy many years working as an engineer on various aircraft, ranging from commercial planes to fighter jets. While he would still lead a happy life, he likely wouldn't make the same kind of money that comes with an ISFL contract RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - deadlunatic - 07-29-2021 Written option: Life is made up of choices. What choice did your player make that led them to the ISFL? What would their life be like if they never pursued a career in football? What would they be doing for a living? Well, Mister Walker was lucky in that he was a multi sport player during his college days, and a really good multi sport player at that. The choice that was made was just that Walker enjoyed the way the sport of football is played a little more than soccer. He liked how physical the game is, and how it revolves around taking that physicality and using it to force your will on another player. While he will always have a spot for soccer, since he grew up playing it a highly competitive level, and ultimately gave up on a career playing in the big leagues for his football career. So, the easy answer is he would be a soccer star playing in his sixth or seventh professional season for whichever team in Europe decided they wanted to spend the big money and bring him in to help win some championships. The other option is something in the tech world where he could try to help the world, so most likely working with machine learning in the medical world hoping to help cure cancer or at least help the world understand it better so we can make progress on how to get rid of it. Hard to say for sure, so many options out there that are not related to football or sports. Luckily, he is able to play a sport he loves and give back through charities and time to the community to try and make it a better place. RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - Birdman - 07-29-2021 LeBong was famously recruited off of his cruise ship home by a high school football coach that witnessed him nearly drown a boy four years older than him in the main deck pool. Had LeBong not made the choice to physically attack this boy that teased him for living on the cruise ship, he would almost certainly not be in his position today with the New Orleans Second Line. It is one of those serendipitous moments in life where a small, violent choice starts your path down to greater success in a violent sport. Thankfully, LeBong was never taught any anger management skills or how to cope with his disturbing childhood being brought up on a cruise ship with no friends. Had LeBong not been scouted by that New Orleans area high school coach, to go on to dominate the local football scene and receive a full scholarship to LSU, he probably would be working a low end manual labor job or possibly even be in prison for taking things too far in a violent outburst. His size, speed, and strength would have not have been put to the good use it is as the big butt anchor of the D Line in NOLA. He thinks back to this fateful moment often now that he is a vet in the league and has overcome many of his demons, but can still use his anger to fuel him to greatness on game day. RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - TheCC - 07-29-2021 What a tough question. I think that there is definitely at least one major event that pointed Dee Walt in the direction of football. He was in college living with his roommate. On this day they were playing Overcooked, screaming at each other, but having fun. That’s when they realized something was wrong with their house. They had a water leak in their pipes somewhere. They traced the leak to a pipe in the yard. They asked around to see how much it would cost to fix, and it was going to be at least a few thousand dollars - money that neither one of them had access to. They did the only thing they could do - they started digging. They dug all day, all afternoon, all evening, and finally they dug down to the pipe. They realized they had no idea how to fix the pipe. That’s when a man named Barney Stinson drove by and saw them. He got out of his Rolls Royce and fixed the pipe for them, requesting that they don’t give him any form of compensation. This man turned out to be an ISFL GM who would one day be the GM of the Berlin Fire Salamanders. He became a mentor for Dee Walt, which increased Walt’s interest in football more and more over the years. Unfortunately Dee Walt landed with a different ISFL team. He desperately wants to go play for Barney, but he is being held hostage by the Chicago Butchers. If he hadn’t met Barney on that fateful day, he’d probably still be in a 6 foot hole in his yard, trying to figure out how to fix a pipe. #FreeWalt RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - ddrector - 07-29-2021 If Sir Peter Jackson had not pursued football he would probably still be making movies. It is a lot of pressure when an audience sees your name and immediately thinks to themselves that that is the guy who directed the incredible Lord of the Rings trilogy. How do you follow that up? Let's forget The Hobbit movies exist as those were never a Sir Peter Jackson original and he got forced into the project late. I think my best bet for directing a movie would be something as far from the fantasy setting of Lord of the Rings as possible. The less it can be compared the better. So I'm thinking maybe something in the science fiction side of things, and since Peter Jackson is clearly very good at book adaptations I think a movie adaptation of the Red Rising series would be the perfect follow up to Lord of the Rings. There are already a ton of books in this series, so it's a great place to start and the first trilogy is excellent and would make a great movie trilogy. It would be really cool if the trailers and promotional material could keep the majority of the movie a secret and only use the opening act of the movie as the story. I won't spoil it for anyone that's not read it but there is an incredible scene early on in the book that changes everything you initially thought you knew. RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - Rangerjase - 07-29-2021 Zoltan is known as the premier offensive lineman in the DSFL. Zoltan has earned his strength and form as an offensive lineman from playing as a left wing in the Simulation Hockey League. Zoltan has been playing for the last 8 or so seasons and really has bulked up. It made the transition quite easy to playing football. Although Zoltan still has his base 50 intelligence, nobody ever said he was the smartest guy out on the field or on the ice rather. Odds are Zoltan would just be peddling and recruiting for the cult of Zoltan if he was not out on the field or on the ice. Only a limited number of cult members are actually allowed to partake in special activities that are sanctioned by lord Zoltan himself. Lucky for this particular Zoltan, he has some skills and is allowed. Instead of spending his days going around to new communities and making the word known on the street Zoltan gets to play football. There are no real hobbies outside of watching sports. The life of a cult member is actually pretty boring compared to the regular human beings that are out there on a daily basis. Zoltan really enjoys his life outside of the cult but does get pretty homesick from time to time. 217 words RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - Skindog44 - 07-29-2021 PT 30-2 Growing up in ioe’s family , all the siblings played sports. athletics was a huge part of the torrent family dynamic. both parents were athletes and thus they pushed all four of the torrent brothers towards sports. from an early age they all started off with baseball, then basketball, and then when they're old enough football. all four of the torrent brothers played those three sports but when they got to high school would eventually pick their preference. For Ioe when high school came around it was a tough decision because he loved baseball as much as he loved football. he was a pretty darn good baseball player could hit for power and was a pretty good pitcher. but as he continued to grow and his love in the weight room continued to grow football became clear that's where he would make his way. but let's say for arguments sake that didn't happen. something derailed that path and torrent was doing something different today. He he would have gone to college gotten his teach degree and would probably be coaching football somewhere and teaching history. either at the high school or collegiate level. torrent loves passing on knowledge and teaching. in high school and college when he was an upperclassman he always liked bringing on the underclassmen and teaching them the ways. in history of course is his favorite subject big history buff. one of the big reasons he enjoys traveling on a professional football team is his ability to see all these different cities and all the history they have to offer. professor torrent at your service.
