RE: (S31) PT 1 - End of a Decade - Cklues - 09-14-2021 I am still rather new to this league, I was active for a season and a half before some IRL issues took over, and I had to take a break over the summer. But I am back and am excited for what is to come! Because of that, I am going to write about what I am hoping for because I was not that productive of a player in the DFSL. I got called up this season, which is super exciting. I hope that I can have a long career with Berlin, they have all been great people to me and super understanding when I had to take the break. I hope that I can make up for the team that I lost and prove my worth to the team and the rest of the league. I'm not a stat chaser, I'm a ring chaser. I want to do everything I possibly can to make Berlin the best they can be. Since my player will probably have to retire in the next 10 years, I will make a new player and hopefully come back, more driven than ever before. I will probably get knocked down in the drafts because of my recent inactivity, but that will give me an opportunity to prove my worth again. I really did miss the league while I was gone. It was a fun distraction from life and I met some great people. I hope to get more involved in the league and meet even more people. (And make lots of money along the way.) I had just has an amazing season in S21 on the Kansas City Coyotes in one of the most fun and hyped up LR's ever to be seen and while it was a humungous draft and I didnt go until the 5th round, I found the place that I call home in this league. The draft is a big deak enough to find a new team to play for and a whole new bunch of people, especially when you’re a new user but the team I ended up with was everything I could hope for. The LR with such amazing users like BigRed, manic, shady, murtsi was incredible and unfortunately the team has had too much success to be able to draft any of these users on their recreates. Being such an integral part of trying to rebuild the team and win for all the amazing users in the team is an honour. Every user that has joined the team since has been great and I know Yellowknife will soon be back to their dominant ways. The whole time in the league has been amazing but that’s been facilitated by where I ended up in the ISFL draft. RE: (S31) PT 1 - End of a Decade - shrub02 - 09-14-2021 While I wasn't around for all of the last 10 seasons, I have been here for the past 4. And to be honest, that seems crazy to me. Time has moved so quickly since then. I have enjoyed the ISFL thoroughly and have many great memories mainly produced by the friends I have met along the way. One of my favorites comes from my ISFL draft night. I had a feeling that I would get selected by OCO but as a newbie to the league, I really had no idea. Now, it is well know that gragg, painted, and I are pretty close. We were drafted together to the ducks and have clicked since. I actually owe it to them for becoming a max earner. Anyways, seeing gragg drafted number 3 overall to OCO was great because he went so high and I though to myself, maybe they'll draft me too and we can continue our domination on the next level. Then the 17th overall pick comes up and they do select me! I couldn't have been more excited. I could only hope that OCO would find a way to nab painted as well. Unfortunately they stinky Butchers picked him but he was happy so that's cool. It's crazy now that they are both GMs and I am just here chillin, doing the normal league things. Can't wait to see what the future will bring for us all. Pro bowls? HOF? An interception for gragg? Who knows! I'm a brand new rookie for S32 of the DSFL league. So there's not much I can speak on in terms of past league experiences. However, the process of building a character, being drafted, playing against other people and turning it into a community has been a really fun experience so far. I can very much so see myself building a second character once Spicy Ron retires. I was recruited via Reddit, so I joined just a few months ago. But I'm excited for my first season and to see how it goes. I've loved building lore via the Wiki and making (admittedly shitposted) graphics for my character. All of it adds to the atmosphere of being a part of a real league and community. The forum process was a bit clunky for me at first. I think using bots to automate more of the process (such as TPE banking) would go a long way to improving the league. But for the time being, I really enjoy the concept and the way the game is played. I'm debating picking up my own copy of Draft Day Pro Football to mess around with stats and play around with my character build. I think having access to the game itself is great for players to learn about how they want to build their positions. Altogether, I'm really excited to start my first season and I'm thrilled to be a part of the DSFL/ISFL community! RE: (S31) PT 1 - End of a Decade - captjanko - 09-14-2021 (241 Words) As a player right out of my rookie year, I don't have too much history to review. However, in just a season, I do feel there are various highlights to reflect on. First, I feel my season started strong when I was drafted in the first round by the Minnesota Ducks. Going in the first round in the DSFL draft was a goal of mine and the Ducks were a far better landing spot than I could have imagined. Once a Duck, I found myself incredibly overjoyed to have helped the team earn their second championship in as many years. I was also excited to have been in the conversation for various DSFL awards. Although I didn't win any awards, my goal was always to be in the conversation and it meant a lot to be nominated. From there, it was an overwhelming joy to go first overall in the ISFL draft. Again, I'd hoped to go in the first round, but going first overall was unbelievable. Even better than going first overall, though, was seeing my twin brother Orpheus go second overall. Celebrating going 1 and 2 overall in person was a festive event. While all of that alone would have been enough to satisfy me before starting S31, I recently learned that I was made a captain of the Ducks. I'd call this first season as perfect as I could have hoped for and cannot wait for what's next. Other interesting things is the Death of the OCO Dynasty with OCO ending the decade with out a ring for the first time in league history, and when you look at a few great new teams who have risen, YKW with 3 rings this decade, SJS with two, and Sarasota with 2 showing a few younger guns taking over. Big new names have risen up too, some of the best names in the decade were guys like Tatsu Nakamura and William Lim, both of which i believe have dominated and smashed records. This decade was also showed things like the fall of teams like balitmore and philly into long rebuilds and the rise of other rebuilding teams like Chicago, while that was unfortunatly short lived it was still a time where they were one of the best teams in the league. Young Super Stars have risen every year, with another face of the decade Big Edd, retiring as the decade came to a close, as the S20s were defined by edd and his DT ways RE: (S31) PT 1 - End of a Decade - SchwarzNarr - 09-14-2021 There have been a lot of great things that have happened since S23 when Melvin joined the league, but the two greatest highlights over the past several seasons have to include his first and only draft in the league - being taken by the Colorado Yeti in the first round, and the season of Moose, where he was able to win Defensive performance of the year, defensive player of the year, and linebacker of the year. Over the last few seasons there have been times where Moose is able to dominate on the field, and over the past few seasons he has felt himself growing older, and struggling to get the sacks the way that he used to. But now, as he continues to sit behind that defensive line, he still feels it in his bones most of the time. He wants to get the sacks, and is so close to being able to break the top ten for career sacks. If Melvin was able to accomplish that in the few seasons that he has left, then he could die a happy moose. The most unfortunate piece of this, however, is that means that eventually Melvin must in fact, die. As he looks to continue to build a great Colorado team, he must find some way to continue living. |
