This year marks the beginning of the first annual Owen Taylor Foundation Fundraiser. The goal of the foundation is to improve the lives of under privileged children living in inner city Baltimore. The crown jewel of the Owen Taylor Foundation is the Owen Taylor Reading Room, an after school program aimed at increasing literacy among inner city children. The Owen Taylor Reading Room will provide a place for children of all ages to go to read, study, and participate in various after school activities. The Owen Taylor Reading Room was funded entirely by Taylor himself. He is hoping to use the fundraiser to provide five outstanding high school seniors with a college scholarship, as well as cover operating costs for the upcoming year. As a small caveat, any student that is awarded a scholarship will be required to return during the summer between their freshman and sophomore years and help with summer programs in a paid position at the reading room.

The actual fundraiser will be based around paid dinner. Each table will have one player from the Baltimore Hawks seated at it, with a special speech from Hawks GM, Gordon Gecko after dessert. After dinner, the festivities will include an open bar, as well as a silent auction with items from local area businesses, and a live auction for some very special Hawks themed memorabillia and events.

One thing that keeps the Yellowknife Wraiths together is their love of video games. Competition doesn't end on the football field in practice. They're always attempting to 1Up each other, whether it's a solid game of NBA 2K17 or the latest Madden 18.

Ricky Maddox brought up the idea that the love of video games shouldn't end for us and they can do so much more with this. Long story short, the rest of the team wanted to give back to the community and the best way to do it was with a huge Madden 18 Tournament. Dubbed the "#WraithsNation Classic."

They each provided funds to get all of the setups needed for both XBOX One and PS4 systems where there will be two champions. As the games went along, there would be a simple drawing for each of the Wraiths players and it gives out a specific scenario that can occur during the game. With each drawing, that player will pay a specific amount of a donation towards whichever charity he chooses. For example, if a player in a specific game throws for 300 yard passing yards, the Wraiths player will donate at least $10,000. So there's extra incentive for extra money to go out for various causes.

It also helps that their mothers came out to cook for all of the participants (and their sons in the NSFL, because who can turn down momma's cooking). With the first installment of the "#WraithsNation Classic," the team, players, coaches, and all other participants contributed to make a sum of over 50 Million dollars towards various charities throughout the world. Now that they have the base of it already complete, expect to see that sum increase tenfold in the next few years.

Bork Björnsson typically isn't actually super active as far as charities go, preferring to make his donations in secret from the public eye. This is partly because Bork does not actually like being in the spotlight, and partly because Bork believes that true service and charity should be made without any kind of ulterior motive ... including good publicity.

This exception to this for Bork is his environmentalism efforts. Ever since joining the league, Bork has tried to bring attention to environmental efforts, holding events and raising money for different environmental organizations.

Bork's focus since coming to the Yellowknife Wraiths has actually been on cleaning up the oceans and water supplies. Much of Yellowknife's local economy is based on fishing, and Bork's homeland of Iceland has a very strong fishing industry. It was exposure to people within these industries that helped Bork see the need for cleaning up our oceans and the importance of effective environmentalism.

This focus has led to many of Bork's teammates labeling him as a "hippie" (in good fun of course). Bork doesn't really mind, as many of his efforts have been pretty successful, and many in the Yellowknife community are glad that their big hippie has decided to focus on environmentalism.

It may come as no surprise that Darren Smallwood has become a hometown hero for San Jose. But what many people do not know is that he helps Domestic Violence victims on the side. Often times, the people who suffer from domestic violence cannot return back to their home, because it is unsafe. For the children, Darren Smallwood provides the Children and Women’s shelter with tickets to the San Jose Games, great seats and all the bells and whistles. In addition, Darren Smallwood also ensures that every contract he signs for sponsorships has a clause that 75% of his earnings from the sponsorship go directly to the shelter. He also has been working with his teammates to collect food and clothes to ensure that the shelter is properly equipped to take on new victims and help them in any way possible. While this is all well and good, the San Jose wide receiver feels he is still not doing enough, and while he does still have more to do, he does spend his time off at the shelter to help cheer up the people there. He’s willing to do whatever he can to give back and do so in any way possible.
