A revelation this season at Middle Linebacker for the Yellowknife wraiths, Irishman Luke “Lieutenant Smash” Tiernan, has proven to be the best tackling technician in the NSFL.

A convert all his life, he has transferred the skills he picked up on the rugby field into his new role on the gridiron. Starting off on the offensive side of the ball with the Colorado Yeti, Tiernan showed a powerful down-hill running style that proved effective within the Yeti’s three-pronged running attack.

During his second season with the Yeti, Tiernan converted to the other side of the ball and plied his trade as a linebacker, clocking up decent if unspectacular numbers as he got used to having to engage in what is regarded as a more intellectual position than that of a running back.

Having been traded to the Wraiths at the end of last season, Tiernan has been a perfect fit for the Wraiths 4-3 scheme, proving to be a wall in defence in the centre of linebacking corps.

Currently he sits atop the league wide tackle count for linebackers, amassing 92 tackles in ten games. This includes two outings where he amassed 14 tackles in each.

While most pundits focus on the strength, eagerness and determination displayed by Tiernan, the through experts of their craft realise that it is the excellent tackling technique on display is the key difference maker for the Irishman.

Every week, he appears to go from strength to strength as the reading of defensive situations becomes more engrained in his psyche.

Luke “Lietuenant Smash” Tiernan, is smashing it this year, proving that he is the best tackler in the NSFL.

Antonio Sandoval is the best ummm... the best uhhh... He is the best at being drafted 1st overall in the Season 3 Draft of the National Simulation Football league. Sandoval has been a bit of a disappointment so far. Only 30 pancakes and 4 Sacks Allowed for the #1 Pick! That's absurd! There were critics of Sandoval right after the draft, as many felt that he would be available at the 4 spot, but those critics were soon proven correct. If he doesn't get his act up, he will go down as the biggest bust in NSFL history, right above Dermot Lavelle. The past two number one picks have been disappointing, we need another Hall of Famer, an all time great, like JJ Reigns. Dare I say it, Sandoval has been the worst player in his draft class. He needs to get out if the league. No wonder Pierno is throwing sacks when his best Offensive Lineman is a trash bag full of mango pulp disguising as a human being. The Colorado Yeti should trade him and all of their players for a 14th round pick, and then the rebuild will be complete. That got off topic quite fast, no?

The third NSFL season may not be finished yet but this must be said right now. Alexandre LeClair is by far and wide the most improved player this season. Just look at his stats and you’ll be seeing it clear as day. Back in S1, LeClair put up 754 yards as a #2 receiver on the Wraiths. In S2, on the new expansion team, the Las Vegas Legion, LeClair put up 743 receiving yards, again, as a #2 receiver. This season, not only has he been able to take over the #1 receiver position, making Stormblessed an expendable asset, he is currently at 1002 receiving yards in only 10 games played. He is on pace for 1400 yards. That would be almost double, that’s right, double his total yardage in comparison to his previous seasons. All the while, the Legion has been, for a lack of a better term, terrible all around with fans claiming that the coaches, the players and upper management should all be fired for sheer incompetence. It’s not only the yards received though that are a vast improvement for LeClair. He is statistically better in every facet of his game, whether it be touchdowns, already more than in any previous seasons, average yard gain, and number of catches received. This player has finally reached what players like to call “the next level” and burst onto the stage as a star for his team. There are not many bright spots in Vegas these days, but LeClair is one of those bright spots.

There's no doubt Connor Tanner has skill but is he the best? Yes, yes he certainly is. He has emphatically proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is the best in the league... at overrating himself. He is one of the (very) few voices shouting into the wind that he will be the offensive Rookie of the Year. He is one of the (again, very) few voices predicting he will make the Pro Bowl - a bold strategy given that it's decided by popular vote and he may be alienating potential supporters.

The young tight end has put up some numbers in his short time in the NSFL, namely his 10.2 yards per catch average. But he also has just 16 catches and 164 receiving yards in 6 games, good for 6th and 4th respectively on a per-game basis. In addition he has also been known to overstate his own statistics:
Quote:[7:38 PM] Keyg_an: I have 13 pancakes shrug
[7:38 PM] iamslm22: 9
[7:38 PM] Keyg_an: Shit
[7:39 PM] Keyg_an: I might have combined NSFL and DSFL.

Some context is needed as he is playing for the 1-9 Las Vegas Legion but do those stats justify his offensive rookie of the year and pro bowl declarations? Will this campaign of self-aggrandizing work out in the end? Only time will tell. Or, in his own words:
Quote:[7:41 PM] Keyg_an: GUESS WE WILL SEE.

Angus Winchester, the offensive lineman from the Orange County Otters is simply the best at what he does. His strength is the second highest in the league to Arizona Outlaws offensive lineman Tim Pest. Winchester makes up the difference with better run blocking as well as better pass blocking however.

Neither lineman has allowed a sack this year, though Winchester trails Pest in pancakes by 3. However, Angus Winchester provides intangible benefits outside of in-game performance. Winchester serves as the self-professed consigliere to Orange County Otters general managers Cecil Otter and Titus Marmot. While his title was self-given, the Otters can't begin to detail the many ways he helps out the team.

Winchester is an active presence in the locker room as well as the NSFL site as a whole, setting a good example for newbies and showing the Otters in a positive light. His experience with the simulation is invaluable, as he often has a heavy hand in each of the Otters' gameday strategies, helping earn two straight playoff appearances, with a very good shot at a third. He helps ease the burden of the GM role, and is always willing to help out.

It's easy for me to say at least, Angus Winchester is easily the best at what he does.

Jayce Tuck is cursed with the uncanny ability to sack quarterbacks on will. This has left some people questioning the ethics of allowing such a monstrous defensive force on the field. Have you ever seen Space Jam? If not, I don't trust you, but that's beside the point. The way the Monstars dunk on puny mortals is the way Jayce Tuck swims and rips through tiny, fragile offensive linemen. Has there ever been such a beast on the football field? No, surely not. Will there ever be again? I don't know, will Jayce Tuck have children?

So how do teams propose to stop this hurricane man? Double teams? Perhaps. That is, if they don't mind throwing the left side of their line to the wolves and watching them be eaten alive by Godfrey mf King, the sack man, the destroyer of worlds. There is no cure for the virus that is the Outlaws D-line. It infects the tiny, weak, mortal offensive lines of human teams and eats them alive. As long as Jayce Tuck continues to be the best of the best at swallowing blocks, and killing quarterbacks, I don't see any O-line standing in his way. Especially when a double block opens the way for the slew of other talented beasts that occupy the Arizona defensive line.

Good offensive linemen are few and far between in the NSFL, but quite a few have come around in seasons 2 and 3. However, for my money the best OL in the league is the OG top lineman who has been doing it since season one, Angus Winchester. He was the first one to set the zero sack record in a season and even though he fell off a little in season 2 he is showing yet again this season why he should be considered the best.

The man is an absolute animal, strong as an ox with legs like tree trunks but also a mind that's sharp as a tack. That's what separates him the most is how well rounded he is. There are plenty of linemen that are strong and athletic in the league but Winchester is a student of the game. He understands the nuances of blocking schemes and techniques and he applies this knowledge to best the opposition. This is what will help him to only keep getting better. Unlike a player like Tim Pest who will only go as far as his physical gifts take him, Winchester's football IQ and leadership will help him to continue improving himself and his teammates year after year.

When called up for the week 7 Connor Tanner was awful, but his big mouth insisted on him getting better, the transition from the DSFL though rough was absolutely necessary. Through 3 weeks of the NSFL Connor Tanner looked like a disabled child with only one arm among men, but let me tell you this, when people came to him and said he didn't belong in the league he placed a chip on his shoulder because he is the BEST at proving people wrong.

Now on a four game scoring streak Connor Tanner is tied for the rookie lead in touchdowns despite playing in 5 less games than any other rookie.

Through 7 Games played (Thought on the roster for 8 due to a depth chart error)

Connor Tanner is:

League Wide:

8th in the league in touchdowns scored.
29th in AVG Yards (Tied with Paul DiMario)
34th longest catch of the year.

As you can see for the Legion this chip has paid off as they are now 2 - 2 when Connor Tanner scores which if you know the Legion .500% is awfully good.

So just keep in mind when you see Connor Tanner, he has a bone to pick and he's ready to prove everyone who doubted him wrong.

There are no bonafide shut down corners in the NSFL, but one guy comes pretty damn close. Antoine Delacour. The Baltimore Hawks cornerback combines speed and anticipation to great effect as half of the best corner pairing in the NSFC. Since the end of last year's regular season, the defensive back has been paired up with, and managed to restrict two of the league's best receivers to zero catches. Just three players have lined up directly opposite Delacour this season and ended the game with more than 100 yards.

All this in the face of doubts and criticisms from all sides. Antoine Delacour is the league's best at proving doubters wrong. Despite his impressive performances through three seasons in the league, many will still overlook the Hawks corner when discussing the league's top defensive backs, instead looking to Carter or Flock on the Outlaws, Verns in Orange County, or Lavelle at the Wraiths, for example. But this only serves to drive the man from Lafayette.

Since entering the pros, Delacour's football IQ has continued to improve week after week, and he has even increased his already impressive speed significantly, to become the league's fastest defensive player. After many suspected he would struggle in man coverage against the league's bigger receivers, and after many predicted the Hawks secondary would falter... Delacour pushed beyond whatever limits they thought he had, and proved them all wrong.
