Ian Bavitz is an intense creature of habit, so his off-season routine is practically the same as his in-season routine. Pre-dawn alarm goes off and Bavitz makes his way into the kitchen to mix up his protein shake and prepare his breakfast of 4 large eggs, scrambled and mixed with home-made salsa.

After his satisfying breakfast, he meets up with his personal trainer at his home gym and does his morning workout, focusing on strength training. After a couple hours with the personal trainer, he takes a break to meet with his personal nutritionist. They go over nutritional goals for the day, and the nutritionist helps devise a meal-plan for the day that will give Bavitz all the vitamins, minerals and proteins he will need to make it through the next portion of his grueling workouts.

Bavitz sends the newly drawn-up meal-plan to his personal chef who begins work on preparation for lunch, and eventually for dinner. Several snack times throughout the day help round out Bavitz' massive amount of caloric intake required to fuel his body.

After lunch, Bavitz meets up with his personal trainer again, this time for afternoon workouts. Strength training was in the morning, his afternoon session consists of conditioning workouts designed to ensure Bavitz won't be tired in the 4th quarter.

After his workouts are done, he enjoys the rest of the meals his nutritionist and chef planned for his day while relaxing with whatever tickles his fancy at the time, usually movies on his giant flat screen.

It all starts over again the next morning, making sure Bavitz is in prime shape for the start of the NSFL season.

This offseason was no different than any other for John Wachter. After completing his final, widely successful season at Maryland, Wachter stayed local and continued to work out in the gym down the street. A few close friends helped, so he was never alone, but he hasn't had access to a state of the art facility yet in his life. Now with Portland, he should have access to better equipment and trainers to take his game to a new level. He also regularly gets extra cardio in, choosing to ride his bike to and from work and the immediate area instead of driving.

Aside from football, Wachter plays in an ultimate frisbee rec league, where he dominates at an almost unfair level. Of course, being bigger, faster, and stronger than everyone else makes that a little easier, and being an actual professional athlete is a plus, but he also has a surprisingly accurate throw of the disc. His team, the Maryland Monsters, won the regional championship last season, which pitted them against teams in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, DC, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York. The constant running of the sport helps with his cardio, and the frequent jumping helps keep his form sound.

Jayce Tuck normally spends the offseason working his ass off to get better. Eventually there is a time in a player’s career where he literally hits his ceiling. Jayce Tuck seems to have hit that ceiling this season and now he is taking this offseason easy. He’s letting his mind and body relax and rest so he can come into season for revitalized and ready to put in the work during the season to once again be an impact player. Obviously, this includes Jayce’s signature dancing where he’s able to get in a decent combination of cardio, balance, agility, and most importantly sexiness for post sack dance celebrations. But Jayce isn’t just dancing this off season. He is also putting in time reading books, playing the field of ladies lining up at his door, and of course binging all of the television shows he has missed over the last few seasons. Tuck has also spent some of his times on some solid traveling seeing some of the sites he has been looking forward to seeing once he hits retirement. Now, some might say Tuck is just getting lazy or that he just doesn’t have it anymore, but Jayce is confident that his light load of “relaxation” is still outworking most players in the league, and his work and relaxation will show its payoff when the season begins.

Dustin Atkins has already established himself as one of the most hard working members of the DSFL, but how did he spend his off-season preparing himself for his first season of professional football? Well that's a good question. While most players are constantly on the field or with strategic coaches, Atkins spent his off season bulking up and preparing himself for the biggest year of his life. The gym became Atkins second home, and fans were avid to watch his Instagram account where he posted pictures of his low fat diet with recipes.

Atkins used his following on social media to gain him traction prior to the draft, making a name for himself as a health nut. He even took to live TV where he did interviews with health experts and artisan cooks alike. Not only did Atkins spend a lot of time learning to lead a healthier life style, but he added a spiritual and romantic aspect to his life. Over the summer Dustin proposed to his girlfriend Lauren on top of Mt. Sulfur in Banff, Canada and attained his entry level parishioner course. A top athlete should be well rounded and balance out all aspects of his life, and that's exactly what Atkins has done.

Nicholas Pierno has been dealing with knee issues since his senior year of college, so much of the summer was spent coming back to full strength. Pierno was the leading rusher amongst quarterbacks in the NSFL as a rookie, but he believes he can eventually be one of the leading rushers PERIOD in the league should he get back to full strength. He spent the summer back in Raleigh, N.C., where he made use of NC State’s top-notch practice facilities to work on his arm and then to the sports medicine program at UNC-Chapel Hill to work on rehabbing his knee. He invited a few Yeti players, such as running back Boss Tweed and rookie wide receiver Tommy Brown, out to North Carolina to spend time working out in Raleigh before spending the weekends out to the coast to spend time on the beach. They trio grew extremely close, which is promising as they took to become the Yeti’s offensive cornerstones for the foreseeable future. After Jaquan Young fell off the map, Pierno is glad to have teammates he can now rely on to be as committed to improving to be the best they can as he is. They ate a lot of Cook Out trays but still lookin’ lean.

Offseason program? Man, fuck that maybe the court system. Now that I have no idea what I can actually control in my career, I just had to go out and train my ass off. I had to give everything I had to the grind, so that's exactly what I did. I mean at the end of the day, I have to wait a season to end up where I really want to. I think that during the offseason I just had to train with a vengeance. I know that in one season, I will be better and stronger than ever, and eventually the Outlaws will regret what they tried to do with me. To be frank, they were disrespectful and that is all I have been able to think about all off-season. I know that it seems childish, but I gave way too much to be treated like that man. That's simply the best fuel that I have. 365 days, and I will be where I want to be and I will work harder than ever to make sure I am there. There is simply no way for me to control anything right now, so I have to just be loud and go out and do my job.

Darnell Turner has had a relatively laid back offseason. This year, he's decided to take it back a notch. Last year, he spent the entire offseason preparing. He worked on his speed, spent time on his footwork, pumped iron in the weightroom, etc. This year, he said that he's practicing to take a chill pill. He spends his days lying around, letting his body heal up from the season. It was unknown whether he was even going to show up to training camp. He says that through extensive research, he deduced that not doing anything was the best way to prepare for the coming season. No one believes him of course, but we'll have to see come the start of the season. Turner should not be doubted though, as he has dominated the league ever since his arrival. He is one of few players to make the pro bowl in both of their first two seasons. To accomplish such a task means that he is a fantastic player and definitely has a huge impact in the league. The Hawks will need him to have another strong year if they want to have a good chance at the Ultimus cup where they'll likely meet the Outlaws.
