(S5) - PT 1- Rookies - tlk742 - 12-24-2017 I want to say it’ll be Carlito Crush, but it will not. Crush will be the best rookie but he will not have the biggest impact. John Watcher will. I don’t think I spelled his name right, but whatever, I think he’ll be great. Here’s why I value him over Crush, the guy behind center is just better in Baltimore, straight up. I think Pierno will get there, but it’s not yet. As a result the newest Hawk RB is going to show up and show up big. I don’t expect him to replace Willie, Willie is a beast and monster, but having him beat out Stormblessed None for the Wide Receiver #2 position would be a huge success and allow the Hawks to really take advantage of the weaker secondaries. What can I say? He reminds me of a season 2 me, brght eye, bushy tailed and with a roster spot that is his to win if he works for it. I think he’s going to help the former NSFC superstars, the Hawks, get back to their former glory and make the offense as formidable as they can be. No knock on Crush, he was the right pick at #1, but if the picks were reversed I would be writing about how he would be helping the Hawks and not Jon Watcher. Code: 223 words (S5) - PT 1- Rookies - run_CMC - 12-24-2017 I am very, very excited about John Wachter's potential with the Baltimore Hawks. The elite wide receiver went in the first round, as expected due to his record-breaking stats. His 1,144 receiving yards gave him 129 more than the man in second place, and he caught an incredible 95 passes, all helping him lead his team to a victory in the DSFL Championship. But, Baltimore? The number three overall pick was somewhat unexpected. After all, the Hawks have three elite wide receivers of their own in the forms of Trey Willie, Alexandre LeClair, and Stormblessed. John Wachter may have been the undisputed receiving king of the DSFL, but his skill level still falls short of the veteran Hawks players (for now). For this reason, I'd expect Wachter to fall into the depth chart as WR4 for much of the season, which will certainly be an adjustment for him. I think he'll handle it fine, however, as I expect Baltimore fans to see the spread offense emerge more frequently among their team this year. Several teams have tag team threats, or triple teams, but an onslaught from four different receivers at once? The Hawks are establishing a receiving dynasty that will torment opposing defenses for seasons to come, and John Watcher is an integral part of it. (216 words) (S5) - PT 1- Rookies - AdamS - 12-24-2017 Of all the rookies I have to say I'm most excited to see Jacob Lattimore. Obviously I'm biased because he's my pick. It's more than that though. I mean, I'm excited for Dean Jackson but everyone knows he's going to be a star/ I'm ready to see Andreas Waiters tear it up but he's already an award winning player. You see, some of you may not remember but I know a little something about being an unheralded draft pick, snatched up by a GM who liked my personality and thought I could do well given time and guidance. That appears to have worked out by most accounts. So when I hear an hour of people ragging on the guy's TPE count and activity I can't help but connect that back to those heady Season 2/3 off season days when articles were nearly forgetting I existed or putting me in the 8th round. The enthusiasm he's shown is going to be a great addition to the league, and the path he's taking towards overcoming the opinions on him are extremely exciting. I can't wait to see what comes next, especially now that we've moved him to Linebacker and given him the license to try and play with the new position. |
