(S6) - PT1 - Draft Day Fever - Bzerkap - 02-16-2018 Oh that S1 class was pretty crazy. @Jogn and I were basically feuding about who was gonna be the best center to come out of this class. @timeconsumer was over in his corner, writing long speculative pieces on Angus Winchester, while Jogn and I were really just yelling back and forth at each other. I knew dick all about this league, the people, the sim, any of it. I really didn't understand a single thing haha. I just remember thinking these fools are crazy if they don't value the offensive line. We had this thing with pressers where you got a bonus and what not for asking questions. The limit was 100 questions for $10M, and by god I asked all 100 to anyone I could find holding a presser. It was a really great intro to the league. Draft day rolled around and Nuck was the only person who actually reached out to me so I was really hoping to be drafted by Yellowknife. I figured I would get drafted somewhere in the 3rd round or so, after all of the big names, who I had no idea about at the time. Well, the rounds kept coming and going without my name being called. I remember being super pissed that Winchester was drafted ahead of me as the first pick in the fifth round and right after him Yellowknife took Jogn. I was dumbstruck. What could I have done better? I really thought I gave long, great answers. How could three OL be better than me? It made no sense. I was so sad and just resigned myself to going to some team I knew nothing about. Well, Nuck picked me up in the sixth round and it's just been a really awesome time ever since. (S6) - PT1 - Draft Day Fever - Zoone16 - 02-16-2018 Code: 211 words It was a few days prior to the draft that the GMs of the Wraiths at the time contacted me and asked me if I would be interested to play in Yellowknife. At the time, there was a great many quarterbacks up for grabs and as such, their value was significantly diminished, as teams would rather focus on defense. It was with these lowered expectations that I entered the draft but even then, I was not prepared for it to go as it did. I was expecting myself to be picked up around the mid-30s or so. What happened was seeing every position except quarterbacks are drafted early on. 30s pass by. 40s pass by. 50s pass by. I think to myself that something isn’t quite right by this point and begin to doubt whether I’d even get drafted by the Wraiths. Ultimately, I did get picked up 62nd overall by the Wraiths but it was a long and tedious hour after the draft began that I heard my name. In the end, it just goes to show that no matter how well you are known in the sim leagues, teams will ignore the hell out of you if you do not have a role they want to fill up earlier. (S6) - PT1 - Draft Day Fever - Bwestfield - 02-16-2018 The draft was a an amazing time. The beginning of the league and my first chance at stardom. I was not a highly touted prospect when I first joined the league but I knew I could make an impact. I thought to myself I at least wanted to be second on the depth chart. I knew that unless I showed some real promise my first season I wouldnt get the start. That was okay for me. So draft day came and I was super excited. I counted down the hours and then the minutes and finally the seconds until the draft was upon us. From there I waited patiently for my future to unfold in front of my eyes. Where was I going to go, where was my family going to go? I had so many questions. It seemed like the first round took forever. There had been some exciting moves and familiar faces picked. My excited wore down as round after round I was being overlooked. Some people I knew that were sketchy at best were being placed at starting positions on teams. I figured it was simply a positional need sort of thing. Then as I was about to find myself asleep my name was called one pick before my future teammate Robert Phelps. We ended the 12th round and began the 13th. Little did I know we would pair up for season to come and break each other’s records and just have fun being on the field with each other. (S6) - PT1 - Draft Day Fever - automatic - 02-16-2018 This one is fairly easy for Sir Gregor Clegane. I think an important event which occurred during the season two draft was the unexpected hold out article, which was posted after Gregor Clegane's twitter was hacked, and the black hat in question posted an incendiary article which supposed Gregor Clegane would hold out of the draft unless he was picked in the first round. While the intent in question was not totally off the mark on the psychology of Sir Gregor Clegane during his draft day, being the top TPE offensive lineman, a position which at that time was of considerable need to all teams during the exodus before offensive line bots were added to the league. In the end, the team he was currently targeting drafted Sir Gregor Clegane, the league learned about the difference between the real football league of the NFL and the NSFL, and what people and players would voluntarily do for their fantasy player moving forward. Regardless, Gregor Clegane has switch to being one of the top defensive line man in the seasons past, as he approaches retirement in the twilight of his career as the Orange County Otters continue to rack up victories and Ultimus wins in the seasons past and still to come. Its tough to take down the king. Words: 217 (S6) - PT1 - Draft Day Fever - KimJungBigDong - 02-17-2018 Ah draft day, I wish I could tell you about mine that just happened a week ago, but due to a number of concussions I suffered on the playing field, my memory is a little foggy. I do remember many "experts" were expecting me to go in the first round, but those "experts" need to rethink their life if they truly thought that. Now going into the draft I thought I would be the first kicker drafted, since I had the stats and the skills to go above the other one, and hopefully go in the first round. But surprisingly neither of them happened. As from going back and looking at the results of the draft, Yellowknife picked me 19th overall, just behind the only other kicker in the draft Micycle McCormick. Now I did expect to go to Yellowknife as I remember they were the first team to contact me, and I think I had a good conversation with them. But dropping down to the 3rd round and being the last of two kickers is shocking, as I don't know why the Yeti took McCormick first. But it's water under the bridge and now it's time for me to kick field goals for the Wraiths or get more concussions! (S6) - PT1 - Draft Day Fever - Robigo_ - 02-17-2018 Rob Anderson here reminiscing on draft day. What an exciting memory. Even being as recent as it is, I know it will be a day I won’t soon forget. I didn’t have any high expectations on when I may or may not be drafted. So when draft day came, I sat in anticipation with the rest of the Anderson family, waiting to see when my name would be called. I sat on the edge of my seat shaking my leg nervously. The picks went by, and my nervousness grew. Then i heard my name, my ears perked up as you could imagine. The Arizona outlaws had picked me and I was pumped. Come to find out they had traded up, to get that pick and get me. Even more shocking was that they traded two first round picks for me. I thought to myself, “wow they really wanted me on the team... I gotta prove to everyone I was worth trading up for, and that it wasn’t a mistake. I can’t let these guys down” But it was definitely a day to remember. Finding out this is where my journey in the NSFL begins. And I’m excited to see what all i can accomplish with my new teammates on the Arizona Outlaws! Words 212 (S6) - PT1 - Draft Day Fever - jparks98 - 02-17-2018 My draft day holds a special place in my heart. It's the sole reason why I still continue practice every day, train non-stop, and give 110% everytime I step on the field. I announced I would be entering the NSFL a couple weeks before the draft. I worked hard every day before the draft. I did everything I had to, every drill and every test that was asked of me. Each team had a test where they asked what can you bring to the team and how will your skills translate on the field. I answered every as truthfully and as serious (well not as serious) as I can. I thought I did really well in my responses but only one team contacted me, the San Jose Sabercats. After a conversation with the GM I absolutely positive I would be in green come preseason. 1st round passes. Understandable, There were guys with connections and guys who declared way before me. 2nd round passes then the 3rd round. The 4th round starts. I felt this is where I thought I would be drafted at. Nope! 5th round passes. 6th round passes 7th round passes. 8th round passes. 9th round passes. With the 58th pick, the Colorado Yeti selects Johnathon Saint. For 9 1/2 rounds, I waited to hear my name called. So now I'm here prove that there are not 57 people better than me, hell there's not even 10. I'm here to ball the fuck out and show 7 teams what they're missing (S6) - PT1 - Draft Day Fever - JBLAZE_THE_BOSS - 02-17-2018 ![]() (S6) - PT1 - Draft Day Fever - manicmav36 - 02-18-2018 The days leading up to the draft were a fun time. Although I ended up hearing from only three teams, two of them left a great impression, while the third, which talked about how they would love to draft a solid defensive back and had plenty of room for one (I was a defensive end at the time), didn’t do nearly as well. Knowing what I know now, it’s no surprise that HENDRIX was the first to contact me, but I was almost positive I would be headed elsewhere. I’d had some great conversations with Bzerkap, and based on their needs, I was guessing I was going to the Wraiths in the 4th round. Much to my surprise though, I watched as my name was called in the third round, with the 18th overall pick. The second of three consecutive defensive ends taken (and second defensive end overall), I was absolutely floored. I knew the Hawks had a rough season 1, and were widely considered to be one of the worst teams in the league, but with some changes to the front office, HENDRIX sounded like a man that knew what he was doing, and I believed this was a franchise that was going places. Little did I know, the Hawks were going places, and they were going to be getting there very quickly. With 2 Ultimus appearances in 2 seasons, I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to the NSFL. (S6) - PT1 - Draft Day Fever - AzhekAhriman - 02-18-2018 The night of the S6 NSFL night was a stressful one for Robby Rainey, and with good reason. Just over one year earlier Rainey had come into the league as the dead last pick in the S6 DSFL Draft, going to the Kansas City Coyotes in the middle of their move to Chicago. Rainey’s previous experience with the draft worried him, but he was confident that his new training regime had placed him squarely in the sights of a few enterprising NSFL GMs. Rainey had received scouting communications from several teams, but the ones that seemed like they had a real interest were the Outlaws, Yellowknife, and Las Vegas/New Orleans. Rainey was concerned in that two of the teams talking two him had some of the best RBs in the league, but wasn’t one to back down from a challenge, even one from someone like Eric Kennedy who managed to somehow lead the league in receiving from an RB spot. When the second round got rolling Rainey was sweating bullets, worried that he would be passed over and experience the DSFL all over again. The Outlaws made sure that didn’t happen, selecting Rainey with the 14th overall pick. Just as Rainey was picking up his phone to take a call from his agent about a flight to Arizona the air-horn announcing a trade bellowed and the announcement was made that Arizona had shipped a king’s ransom in draft picks and Rainey to Yellowknife in exchange for LB Jack Dwyer and a pick switch in the third. Excited to get the chance to measure himself against the league’s very best, Rainey rescheduled his flight to head north instead of south and headed to the store to stock up on cold weather gear.
