(S7) - PT 1 - Biggest Busts - run_CMC - 04-07-2018 One large and particularly disappointing bust is Season 5 NSFL draft 3rd overall pick by the Baltimore Hawks: wide receiver John Watcher. He was an absolute force in the season 4 DSFL for the Portland Pythons, racking up an incredible and record setting 95 receptions, 1,144 yards, and 5 touchdowns. This was no accident, as he had a very high activity level and was at the top of the DSFL in TPE, which added to the deserved hype heading into the NSFL draft. Then, after being selected high in the draft... he played even better, taking the professional league by storm. 79 receptions, 849 yards, and 8 touchdowns. In addition, he joined his old Portland GM by becoming the Pythons co-GM! The future was bright for John Wachter... and then the activity just stopped. He stagnated. It’s now been 2 and a half months since he’s logged on, and it seems unlikely he’ll rise beyond the 290 TPE he currently sits at. He posted worse, but decent, stats for the Hawks in season 6, and he’d still be elite in the DSFL, but it seems as if the Baltimore Hawks will never have a John Wachter WR1 era. Or at least, if they do, it means the team is not doing well at all, because John Wachter is one of Season 5’s biggest and saddest busts. (226 words) (S7) - PT 1 - Biggest Busts - MVick - 04-08-2018 The Baltimore Hawks drafted quarterback Mike Vick out of San Antonio Marshals with their sixth round, 22nd overall pick in the S6 NSFL Draft. Despite already drafting quarterback Austin Roenick with their first selection at sixth overall, Baltimore felt the need to add yet anotehr quarterback with their next selection. This is with Avon Blocksdale already set in stone as the Hawks' franchise quarterback of the present and near future. One could say that Vick was the best possible talent left at 22nd overall, and one could also say that late draft picks are like rolling the lottery, but an unnamed source said that Vick would not be leaving San Antonio to further his professional career. "I'm happy to play in San Antonio right now, and football, for me, isn't something I love to do. There's a lot of other things I'd rather be doing with my time, but right now, football is just a way for me to pay the bills. I don't see myself leaving my home in San Antonio, so if there comes a day when they no longer need me, I will probably retire from the game and live life the way I want to," said Vick. (S7) - PT 1 - Biggest Busts - ADwyer87 - 04-08-2018 without a doubt, J.J. Reigns is the biggest bust in NSFL history. The first round of the inaugural S1 draft was filled with busts, in fact it is pretty ironic that the first round of the draft might have been one of the worse ones overall. But the first round is best classified by no one other than the infamous J.J. Reigns, the first player ever taken in the NSFL. Reigns gained traction early in the draft by showing great earning potential. However, he stalled out almost immediately, and turned into a major mistake for Orange County. What makes him worse than the other busts of the first round (Selich and West) is both who they passed over as the consensus first overall, and that they should have known better than to take him. J.J. Reigns has earned only 168 TPE over his career. Meanwhile, the man considered to be the best player, Josh Garden, while he hasn't lived up to the hype, still has 796 TPE and was a top earned all the way until S5. To imagine an Otters team with Westfield, Phelps, AND Garden would be just too good to be true. On top of that, unlike Selich and West, it was well known around the sim league community that Reigns agent, Shaka Lawal, was going to make his own football league and would not be very much available, so for them to take him first overall just looks that much more foolish (S7) - PT 1 - Biggest Busts - ralams123 - 04-08-2018 In season 3 of the draft the year I decided to declare for the draft, one of my friends/rivals decided that he wouldn't let me get a step over him and declared a day before the draft. Yes I am talking about the biggest bust and a player you all have never heard of... Line Backer Deon Jacobs. Yup this 50 TPE bust was a friend of mine who I convinced to join the website, he was interested of course but his ego got to him as he decided to quit on the league early after not getting drafted high even though he created his player the day before. That year was also the creation of the DSFL and so his soon to be inactive corpse of a player was sent down there to develop and maybe develop into a great player. Unfortunately his ego took another hit and he quit the site after about a week. The worst part is after he quit he still wanted me to check on his players stats to see if they were worth coming back too but after a season or so I think his player was just forced to retire or he is just a free agent till he is forced to.
