One of the things I really like about the league is watching the games live. Even though the current game kind of sucks in terms of its game viewer it's still pretty interesting to watch and at least gives you a little more sense of what your players are doing. I will admit though that it is super frustrating watching your players swarm around a dude and then basically just hug him and blow him kisses as you slowly walk down field hand in hand, but still it does give some sense to possible adjustments a team could make.

Change
One of the things that I'd like to have changed is the way in which we earn money. Right now we've got graphics, media, and twitter. Graphics and media pieces, for me at least, have the feeling that they need to be really good, or in terms of media, a decent length or they really aren't worth doing. On the other side of this you've got twitter which is mindlessly spewing stupid stuff on twitter. The one graphic I've made so far took me hours to do because I did 2 jersey changes and tried to make a nice background, etc. made me the same amount of money basically that 5 minutes of stupid posting on twitter did.

Remove
The one thing I'd say we need to remove, at least for the time being, is defensive line players. I'd take it a step further and say possibly even kickers, but not sure on that. Either way even as a new player I can definitely see a lack of players and feel that we need to centralize the available positions to a certain set of positions, and then let the rest be bots until we get more people in the league. I know there's going to be people that don't like that, specifically people who have defensive line players or those who would want to make them, but I think that lack of people at certain positions is glaring

one thing i want added into the game is a archetype tier system. One thing that i think everyone can agree has been lacking from the site is the spending power of NSFL money. Another thing that i think has been an issue is the power of TPE. Many players already maxed out all possible attributes before their 7th season, that is an issue. The solution? A tier system to archetypes. Basically allowing for less stats in each category, and you have to pay a certain amount of money to get their caps raised. then we could also make the floors a little lower to balance out and help make TPE mean more.

one thing i want removed from the game is the bullshit contract system. The fact that it doesnt scale is a travesty and is the reason for the current contract crisis we have. We cannot allow these non-scaling contracts like the SHL has. Allowing 3 year extensions with players who only play 7 years before their prime is a recipe for loopholes like we have seen, where we have near-1000 TPE players earning 1 million this year because of how we handle contracts. This has to stop! We need to institute scaling this instant to stop this issue and end these sneaky contracts

one thing i like about this game is how well we're coming along. This could be a biased opinion of course since i AM a head office member, but i think HO has done a good job adjusting to the difficult task of preparing the league for its first wave of regression and recreates. While the original HO had their hearts in the right place, they often did not make rules with great foresight. So we have had to make adjustments as we go, and I think we have done a pretty good job of that up to this point

Add: I could talk about the wiki, but I figure that's a cheap way to meet the requirements here, so I'll talk about my upcoming development ideas. I'm currently working on a method to make player updates easier to do, and easier to audit. I noticed there were a few issues getting people who were willing and available to do the updating stuff this past season, and by creating a semi-automated system, it could simplify the work needed, as well as force a single, standardised update method which reduces the requirement on the user, too. Other ideas involve the central stats database I've been slowly working on since I took up the historian job, or a discord bot that helps tie things back to the forums by linking new media in the chat, or allowing users to scrape player info etc. Those are further down the line though, as the focus right now is the wiki, and then maybe some method of simplifying updates.

Remove/Change: I've been talking about contract problems for a while now. I don't have the answers to these problems, but it's not like I didn't try suggesting things. Some people liked those suggestions, others didn't. That's fine. But it's still something that requires discussion. I still have a problem with the fact that teams can hoard talent at low cost, be those players active or inactive. I still maintain that a sort of bidding system is a good way to force the dispersal of talent (from the inactive pool only). I still maintain that contract minimums that don't scale are a problem. In fact, I took the contract minimum for the first time when signing my last extension purely because I didn't want my team to be disadvantaged when comparing to other teams who have multiple high earners on low cost deals. I shouldn't, as a player, feel any sort of obligation to do that. That the system we have in place means some do, is a problem.

Like: building this wiki is a lot of fun, behind the scenes. There's a lot of lore in the league already, which makes for compelling stories. Various in-jokes that have become commonplace like bovo and his :eyes: or the implication that TPE is a performance enhancing substance, or the legend of Roidson, or Er's horcruxes ... all of this stuff is what makes this more than just moving dots on a screen and some numbers. This is what I'm here for, the storylines and character development. This is why I've stayed here through all the arguments and drama and bullshit, too. I think the deeper that stuff goes, the more immersive this "world" becomes, the better chance we have of retaining new members.

Written: Write 1 thing that you would like added to the league, 1 thing that you would like removed, and 1 thing that you currently like. Each part requires 100 words to be written to receive credit for it.

1 Thing added

Better more engaging streams. I mean I'm not sure what they are like now a days, but when I was watching them, it was just the little dots moving with music blaring. Get some commentary in there, make it exciting, interact with chat, and talk about the players. Pump some tires, get people into it. That would give the NSFL a unique flair and really start to cement an image many other sim leagues don't have. Talk about what happened last week. The kind of season a player is having, what have they changed in their game? Are they improving or declining? Any controversy or rivalries present with this big match up?

1 Thing removed

Positions that have shitty/ meaningless influence on the game. I mean, this last season looks about the 1st time my player achieved what I wanted too with his archetype but really, does a high TPE kicker really influence or help a team much? Back when I was a lot more active it seemed power kickers dominated far more and accurate ones seemed next to useless in comparison. I think some positions need to flat out be axed unless someone really wants to play it. I know the Offensive line man was re worked and that’s a solid start, but I feel like more can be done to generate some more interesting players league wide, and create some more teams overall.

1 Thing I like

Again things might have changed in the last season or two (seriously I ghosted hard) but I did like the ease of earning TPE and coin. Both were still enough that it takes some work to get moving up the charts, but not so suffocating that it made it impossible to keep up with the pack. Some tweaks could still be done as a whole, but currently, it’s in a pretty decent spot in comparison to some other leagues. One thing I wish I had was a bit more of a guide to the ins and out of the sim and what influences what, and how much, and even some clarification what each position does/ hopes to achieve so those of us who are interested and not football gurus have some better understanding of it all! But besides that, like I said I do like the overall earning structure.

Disclaimer. Not all of these will be my ideas. Some are. Others are ideas that I've been a part of discussing. Even more are ideas that have been brought forward by others. This is just an amalgamation of all of that.

ADDED
I want to add incentives for teams trying to sign free agents. Things like lifting the ban on performance bonuses come to mind. Giving the gm's of the lowest team in each conference a little something extra to use on players for the following season, whether that be uncapped salary money or extra TPE they can give to signees or both. Allowing teams to structure contracts however they see fit as long as they hit the right total (ie, if you're required to pay them 2 mill for 3 seasons, you're fine however you do it as long as you hit 6 mill over the course of the contract). Consolation picks for teams that lose big players in free agency. I want to add legal tampering during the last season of the contract, ie the same time that the player's current team can negotiate with them. Or some version. I think players moving around the league a little more will be good in the long term.

I also want to add more options for players to individualize. Imagine having the option of uncapping one skill for the life of the player and choosing between several set skills to set you apart. Imagine being able to wait an extra season in the DSFL (or NCAA) to declare for the NSFL draft without incurring regression (or at a lowered rate which I literally just thought of during that sentence). Imagine having more equipment choices and more levels to choose from (albeit probably with the higher levels being less efficient for growth).

Also, random other things I want to add:
-More TPE for fantasy wins
-Allowing players to announce retirement at any time and their players can keep playing until their next player is drafted into the NSFL.
-THE YOUTUBE PROJECT
-Some offseason activity that actually gets people together
-All the contract stuff the GMs/HOs/TC have been debating

REMOVE
Its difficult to say I want to remove specific things in part because of my position as HO. I put great effort into carefully trying to figure out the effects and consequences of each choice. So in most cases I end up finding reasons to alter rather than remove things. There are however specific things I'd like to remove for various reasons.

The 1 hour limit on podcast payment. It's dumb. It serves no purpose. It gains us nothing. It's existence has the same value of the law in California that says you can't shoot whales from your car. Yes that's real. Let's give people the opportunity to do more. I feel like this limit has negated a lot of possible content, especially given how much of a podcat's meat is time sensitive. There's no point in discussing stuff from this week's topics in next week's show.

I'd like to remove the ambiguous wording from the rulebook and guidelines. So much of it simply creates headaches. We just had an issue because a rule about regression says something about the numbers counting when the percentages are posted. Thus, when a member of HO innocently posted about which players would be going into regression in the offseason and reminded everyone that it would be 20%, it technically triggered the rule. it wasn't even the end of the season yet. That kind of stuff is why some handsome devil wrote and championed the rule allowing for rules to be changed during the season, but we need to go over the rulebook with a fine tooth comb and figure out all the ways someone could misuse it or (far more likely in my experience here) simply think they were following the rules all along.

My biggest goal right now though is removing a week from the offseason. That's probably the best we can hope for, but I think it can be done.

LIKE
I like Dermot. He works so goddamn hard you guys. I mean, lots of people do, but shout out to the Commish who rarely gets 1/2 the love he deserves. I like the Werewolf game currently going on. I like my LR in New Orleans. I like that I got to meet @tlk742 the other day. That was fun. I like the Hall of Fame things that are coming around the corner. I like getting drunk and writing random media. I like the passion people have for the league. I like that the HO/GM can be filled with vicious arguing (and it is pretty regularly) but you wouldn't know it form the outside because at the exact same time, the same people could be memeing their asses of in the league's general discord and goofing off. I like the name Young Spaghetti. That shit's hilarious. I like people having fun and helping that process. I like that the whole league is about to turn upside down with the 3R's (regression, retirement, recreate) and all the things that are happening in the next few seasons. I like the entire sim sport hobby. I like that a 5-9 team could theoretically win the title under a brand new GM and CoGM. That would be WILD. I like MY MAN Bovo. I like playing Barry of the North, asshole Bard. I like that as GM I never traded a major player to Orange County (suck it!). I like the idea of @timeconsumer and I eventually doing an actual drunken commentary team PBP on some games for a sim day. I like that so many avenues are still open here. And most of all...I like you. Like....almost all of you. PEOPLE FROM AGES 14-40, MEN AND WOMEN, FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD, AND MANY DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS. I love that no one is even surprised I just accidentally capped that and a not going back to change it. I like saying pound sign and like 6 people will nod their heads.

Well, there is not a ton that I want to remove, but I guess it makes sense to remove the 1 hour limit on podcasts. Let's face it, podcasts are awesome. If you go above an hour that is even more awesome! I think you just need to put in a certain amount of quality control. You cannot just sit there quiet for 6 hours and expect payment, but if you have a legit podcast you deserve to be paid for it, even if you go above and beyond! It just makes sense. This should be an easy thing to change!

Added:

This used to be a thing when I was here before, but I don't think it is updated anymore, but a full list of the entire league and their TPE totals would be so amazing to see and have statistics around that. I want to see who is close to me in TPE, who I can beat or jump, who compares from other seasons, who the biggest gainers are, who is the top of the league. There are so many incredible things you could do with data like that, someone just has to focus on it and do it!

I love the index and the amount of statistics at our hands. I love the fact that so many people write amazing statistical analysis. I always loved writing these articles and even if I have not for a long time now, it still brings me joy to see others do it. I think it would be amazing to see even more of that used, maybe more of the leaderboards and statistics and analysis. Perhaps I will go back and do some more statistics, if the itch gets me again. I can definitely feel it coming back to me, so perhaps you will see more in the future!

I'm here to talk about one thing I like in our league. That thing is and probably always will be the community. For the most part everyone is cool. Of course there's a few little kids here and there that try to ruin it, maybe even unintentionally, but nevertheless they try. I like that we are all on discord and we can communicate with one another and the rivals are so bad that I absolutely hate my opponent. It makes it fun and everyone on here is about having fun, if you're not having fun on a team they'll trade you so you can be.

So here is what I think that should be added, it's two different things. I think we need to change a few things… I think we need to figure out a different sim. Something that is even just a tad more realistic. I think that would help get new people in and help keep people retained here. The other thing is our forum. It is terrible to navigate when you're just starting. I have zero patience so I almost didn't join this league. And I wouldn't of it wasn't for my brother pushing me into it. I don't know the answer but I'm sure someone can come up with at least something better.

What I would remove is some of the stupid ass point tasks. This one in particular. I understand you're trying to find some suggestions to make it better but come on. Ever single god damn season? How am I supposed to bullshit this stupid ass task every season? I only have so many suggestions. Now someone is seriously reading trying to make it better and you have people like me bullshitting it because one I don't give a flying fuck and two all I want is my mother fucking tpe. That was by far the best of my answers. Hopefully you take that into consideration. Even make a different folder in the forum dedicated to NSFl upgrades or a suggestion box.

Like: As someone who came over after being a part of the PBE first, the thing I really liked here that they only recently added to PBE was the use of Twitter. The biggest thing that keeps a league like this going and enjoyable is the influx of new people every new season. Social media is, in my opinion, the quickest and easiest way to get people interested and making players. Not only that, it allows for some fun interactions with people role-playing as their character and really bringing them to life. The weekly money as an incentive is also great especially for new players like myself trying to get some easy cash to grow their player.

Removed: Just based on the size of football teams and the number of active people I've noticed, I'd probably say that a team or two might need to be dropped unless there is a rather large influx of new actives. Personally, I don't think that an 8 team league is long-term sustainable without needing a ton of bots to fill positions. This might not be the best indicator, but each activity check thread only has around 100 replies. Just based on the fact that every team has about 24 starting spots, 100 replies is only about half the leagues spots, and that isn't even taking into account DSFL. That seems like a lot of spots being taken up by bots.

Added: I really think that a huge step in the right direction would be adding game commentary or a post-game/sim show. Talking about current storylines, playoff picture, and all that jazz would be great for new viewers and players. For myself, I had to do my own outside research to find out players to keep an eye on in-game, rising stars, overperformers, etc. In my opinion, it'd really do wonders for immersion and bringing the games to life. Even just a little bit of commentary every once in a while is better than nothing. Also, maybe having a matchup of the week that gets scheduled as the last game of the night? Sort of like MNF.
