(S9) - PT 4 - Movie Pitch - Blastmeaway - 08-04-2018 After being left in the dusty town of Tijuana, Thad Pennington was approached to do a documentary on how his life has been since his brothers Brad and Chad left to play in the NSFL for San Jose and Yellow Knife, respectively. After a rough loss in the S7 Ultimini Championship Game Thad took to wandering around the Mexican Desert living solely on Tijuana's Finest Tequila. After being left out like a raisin in the sandy desert Thad had an epiphany about creating his own brand. The documentary follows Thad on his offseason life in creating Thad's Tijuana Tequila Titties, QTs for short, Official Sponsor of the Tijuana Luchadores and Yellow Knife Wraiths. After successfully leading the S8 Luchadores to the Ultimin Championship in a triumphant return. Securing his DSFL Career Record for Ultimini Championships, and possibly a league record for number of Ultimini Games Played, with 3. The documentary is still filming as it is following what could be Pennington's last games in Tijuana, as they continue their strong playoff push for Home Field Advantage. Thad could be going back to his 4th Ultimini, depending on how well the Lucha play in the first round. Go Lucha Go! (S9) - PT 4 - Movie Pitch - Tomen - 08-04-2018 Alex Selich journey to the DSFL is quite an interesting one that's the reason why he was approached by a film studio about the possibility of a documentary. Growing up in his hometown in Germany no one would have expected to see a future NSFL player on the field. But the influence was strong since his hometown had a US Army Base near the outskirts of the small 60k city. The young kids were coached by former D-1 college player who knew a lot about the game and had a burning passion about it. One of these coaches was a former FAU player which was ultimately the key to Alex getting a scholarship offer from there. He was viewed as a fairly raw prospect with an outstanding recommendation from a former player. Alex was an outsider and was more viewed as a feel good story but he managed to prove his doubters wrong and was a key player on defense. After his college career he returned to Germany for a while to work on his physical abilities such as Strength and Speed so that he could enter the DSFL in prime condition after the trade deadline. This will give Alex a few weeks of actual on field experience before he will enter the DSFL draft. Alex is dying to prove the doubters wrong since he also has to restore the reputation of the Selich family name. His uncle was drafted in the first round of the S1 draft and got 2 Pro-Bowl selections but ultimately left the league fairly quick. (S9) - PT 4 - Movie Pitch - Phobospwns - 08-04-2018 Unsurprisingly, most of the fame and glory associated with the NSFL goes to the biggest stars of the league. That list of stars, like any other pro football league, starts with the quarterbacks first and foremost, and then into the other offensive stars: RB, WR, TE. Of course, there'll be some stud CBs and rush LBs who get some love as well, for splash plays on D. But when it comes to the trenches, on either side of the ball, there's less notoriety. Now, what if you not only play on a defensive line, but you're also not a highly touted sack machine? What's more, what if you're one of the fringe players on the roster? Often times, their stories can be as compelling, if not more, then your Playboy star QBs. This is the area where the career of Lol Rax resides. Lo didn't go to a big time football program, and wasn't a first-round drafee. What does it take to go above and beyond being in the first round of roster cuts when the odds are stacked against you? How much Hydro do you have to grind than the guy next to you with more natural talent? when are you comes down to it, how lucky do you have to get to have your big break? 30 for 30: Life of the Edge we'll delve into the background story of defensive end Lo Rax and several other football players who's day to day is about landing in and sticking with a roster, to put food on the table for themselves and their families. You'll see how much work and focus these guys really have to pour in, possibly without ever hearing the accolades heaped upon them from coaches, players, and fans. Of course, the biggest question is... Can they rise above that station to become stars of their own? (S9) - PT 4 - Movie Pitch - Renrut - 08-04-2018 ![]() EDIT: as soon as you post it and realize you missed a spot :/ (S9) - PT 4 - Movie Pitch - Zoone16 - 08-04-2018 The up and coming series of shorts called NSFL: Legends of the Game contacted LeClair in order to make one of the episodes a biography about him. This 2-hour long documentary goes into great depth and looks at LeClair’s past, growing up in Montreal where other sports such as hockey and soccer were more prevalent and where the CFL dominated the grid iron games. The first hour focuses on LeClair before the NSFL. As they go back to Montreal to shoot this section we hear LeClair recount how he was born in a well-off family but once he entered his teens was forcibly taken off sports to focus on his studies in the hopes he’d follow in the family business. He also talks about his rebellion and how his parents kicked him out of the house at the age of 16. This hour-long part 1 finishes with LeClair telling us how he rediscovered sports as his freedom of expression outlet. The second hour puts a greater emphasis on LeClair in the NSFL. How he got drafted late, his position change, his first season in Yellowknife. It goes on talking about his trade to the Las Vegas Legion and the pressure of playing on a losing team for so long. The last bit of this part 2 is LeClair talking about his move to Baltimore and the Hawks, finally producing at the top of the league standards. It ends with him reflecting on his whole career so far and stating that overall it wasn’t that bad at all. (257 words) (S9) - PT 4 - Movie Pitch - GoonerBear - 08-04-2018 A short documentary on Kolby Deringer's life features the struggles he and his family have overcome to just be able to live life and thrive in it. From fleeing Katrina and leaving their Louisiana home behind to starting anew across the state, to his junior high injury leaving him out and casting doubt on whether or not he would continue to play, to college and adjusting to the hard knocks of life at the University of Texas, with prestige in football and academics, always rated Top 25 in the preseason polls and a mainstay among the nation's "public Ivies." The documentary pays special attention to his freshman year elbow injury, which left him out at a critical juncture when freshmen showed whether or not they could survive the Longhorn Way. The documentary hones in on his college days - the struggles of breaking through at Texas, both to get his degree and to try to keep his place on the football team after he broke his elbow early his freshman season. That cast yet another pall on whether he could play and if that injury might have been the one where he was told "focus on your degree because it will be your best way to live the dream." Everyone he talked to was terrified when he returned that season and remained fearful, though finishing out strong proved he could at the very least survive in the high-pressure environs at UT. (212 words) (S9) - PT 4 - Movie Pitch - mabb - 08-04-2018 Xandra was approached by Jiggly after practice, just as @enigmatic mentioned she was approached, to take part in a film about females in football. Instead of responding, she had a flash of her inner introvert and freaked a bit. She darted off (because she’s really speedy from all those long morning runs she and Nax take) to think about the offer in peace. The highlights of her story were pretty well documented on her wiki page already, and she had no doubt the production team would be able to find dramatic angles. Her main doubts revolved around how it is always a bit uncertain how these kinds of “breaking a glass ceiling” movies will be perceived. Sure, it will be great for all the young women like herself a few years back who need encouragement to follow their dreams. Maybe moreso, it will be great for their parents to see that it can be done and they should support their daughters. But, there will always be those parts of the fanbase who will grumble about how women shouldn’t be in this league, blah blah blah. Who was she kidding - there were probably fans somewhere already grumbing. But, never one to let them get to her, she crossed that off the list of reasons why she should not be profiled. Another thing weighing on her, though, was how they would treat her tech background. As long as it was more Good Will Hunting than 21, that would be okay, she supposed...not that she could hold a candle to Matt Damon’s character in terms of smarts. One last large concern would be the editing/producing angle - she certainly did not want to be sexualized like every other female athlete. She decided to mull over these concerns a bit more before letting the Hollywood folks even consider invading her and her family’s privacy. (S9) - PT 4 - Movie Pitch - Daybe - 08-04-2018 Applehort just took part in a movie shooting. So what movie, may you ask? Well, it's called "Biggest Busts". Applehort had a fun time meeting some of his biggest busts and friends! Johnny Manziel, JaMarcus Russell, Charles Rodgers, Jason Smith, RGIII, Vince Young, Trent Richardson, Aaron Curry, Mark Sanchez, all made the trip out. Anthony Bennett surprised everyone by making a guest appearance with his good friend named Darko. Anyways, the episode was about how so many good players in college were doomed to fail and it was just a matter of time before one of the highly coveted prospects bust. Some examples in the NSFL are Brice Boggs and J.J. Reigns. Boggs is a loser, one of the worst cornerbacks in the league during his time. He actually ran for a Representative position, but the stupid loser didn't realize he was too young to do it and got turned away. Anyways, it was a fun time, and they all got to eat chips, throw picks, run slow 40s and watch bad movies together, all covered by the TV crew. But the best part is that Applehort didn't know why he was with them. He thought it was a show comparing NSFL prospects to NFL prospects, and just went along with it. He started sweating when JaMarcus brought up "Early Retirement" and "Failed Prospects", though. At that moment on, he knew he was in the right place, because Applehort is one of the biggest busts in NSFL history. |
