(S10) - PT 3 - Memories - speculadora - 09-16-2018 The most recent memorable moment for Orange County Otters safety Jaylon Broxton was his very public spat with New Orleans Second Line safety Blackford Oakes. The two have had a contentious relationship for some time after Broxton left the Second Line for the Otters, but things boiled over in the off-season when Oakes declined his option with New Orleans to test free agency. Broxton contacted Oakes to gauge his interest in becoming an Otter at which point Oakes grew cantankerous toward Broxton. Taking offense to Oakes' standoffish behavior, Broxton fired back with cantankerousness of a more severe degree and things only got worse from there, culminating in Broxton lying about his enjoyment of the television show The Office to get in Oakes' good graces. Oakes publicly disparaged the Otters franchise and said he would never play for them unless Broxton made a public apology. It was a truly low point for Broxton who had never realized the exten of his own actions and failures to mend his relationships with his former Second Line teammates. Although the league cracked down on public announcements that had nothing to do with team or player transactions, Broxton managed to convey a sincere and heartfelt apology to Oakes and the two are now on terms that could be described as "fine". Broxton has since made an effort to be more conscious of what he says and how his actions affect others. (S10) - PT 3 - Memories - Official DT - 09-16-2018 I'd have to say one of the more memorable things was being drafted to the Philadelphia Liberty. Going from the minor league system to the pros hasn't exactly been easy but I do enjoy it so far. The season is still young and I do have a lot of work to do but I have been in the gym every single day. I want to help this team build something special and I hope this team can turn into a contender in a couple of seasons. There is plenty of talent still in the minor league system that will be playing in the pros next season and I can't wait to see them play. This team is going to be looking a lot better next year than this year not only because of those in the minors but because of the upcoming draft picks. Despite being a defender, I can't wait to see what this offense will look like next year with Falconi under center. The city of Philadelphia has been kind to me so far and I want to repay the fans. I want to help build a winning culture and I want to bring championships to this city. I believe we will have the talent to do so and I can't wait to see things unravel. (S10) - PT 3 - Memories - Saliva^ - 09-16-2018 The probably future HoF kicker named Kulture Fulture has a many memories to talk about. However, his best one is kinda odd event. I don't think this was really memorable moment to share with us, but it's indeed a special thing for a fake vulture. What happened? Well, let's start with a fact that in his early days he never was a lucky guy. He wasn't a good kid at school, never had much money and never had much friends...perphaps cause he is a vulture. Anyways, it did change one day. His familiy has decided to take a trip to Las Vegas despite never having much money to begin with. But seems like ''you live only once'' slogan was enough for his parents to not giving a shit about their financial situation. And of course, they needed to visit one of these many casinos there to lose their money completely... ...except I was lying about their luck at casino. After some unsuccessful attempts to win something, they went to a Jackpot Giant and gave a chance to Kulture to try his hands. This is the part where everything went perfect for him and his family. He didn't win it all, but he still could win way more than his family every had. The next couple of years can be described as: the curse is broken. They got money, Kulture started gain more attention from girls and also he made a decision to pursue a football career. And here we are, watching him being a promising kicker/punter and probably going to HoF. So maybe this memory isn't that usual as we were thinking earlier. (S10) - PT 3 - Memories - Waters - 09-16-2018 SHL affiliation (S10) - PT 3 - Memories - Moosecop - 09-16-2018 The biggest life-changing event in Bucky Barnes' life probably had to be the decision to leave Penn State University after his junior year to join the NSFL as a part of their developmental league. After a disappointing end to his junior year in which his team lost in the Rose Bowl to Standford, Barnes decided that if he wanted to get a jump on his peers as a professional he needed to do it now. Risking injury in his senior year wasn't something he was interested in doing, even if it did mean putting his degree on hold for the foreseeable future. After talking it over with his coach, his teammates, and family, he knew this was what he wanted and needed to do and entered the DSFL as a waiver pickup at the end of their Season 7. He was selected by the San Antonio Marshals, got some good experience in those final 3 games and was even selected in the DSFL draft to return to San Antonio the following season where he would win multiple awards in his only full season there and be drafted 2nd overall into the NSFL by the Arizona Outlaws. That initial decision to leave school a year early has so far shown to have been a great idea for Barnes both as a football player and financially. (S10) - PT 3 - Memories - OBESE - 09-16-2018 The most memorable moment ir Declan's life probably was a decade back, when he was around 10 years old. Early in the morning, like I mean really early, 5am if not mistaking, Declan was woken up by his dad. That day was school day, so Declan was not just tired but also confused what is going on. Without no explanation his dad told him to get out of the bed, brush his teeth and get dressed. He was given 15min for everything and his dad told him that he will be waiting for him in the car. Although curious what is going on, Declan did not ask no questions and did what his dad asked him to do and was downstairs in 15min. He got into the car, where his dad was already waiting and minutes later they were on the way to somewhere. While driving, Declan could not fight the curiosity and asked his dad where are they going on what his dad replied - you will see. Around half an hour later they approached Heathrow terminal. That day the English national rugby team was returning from the world cup from New Zealand and due to time difference they landed early in the morning and not many people were there to meet. This was Declan's dad's surprise and that was the greatest day of Declan's life at that point. When they walked into the terminal, Declan's dad handed him his rugby ball and a black sharpie. Declan managed to take pictures with his favourite rugby players and get the whole teams signatures on his rugby ball. That was one of the greatest days in his life that he will never forget! It set Declan to practice even better so that once he would not just ask for autographs of his idols but play with them and be someones idol as well. (S10) - PT 3 - Memories - HalfEatenOnionBagel - 09-16-2018 Achilles Hondo first discovered his love of football when he was actually playing a very different sport in his youth. That’s right, Hondo was once on the path to being a decent youth baseball player, maybe something more if he had stuck with it. He’s always been a big dude, even as a 12 year old but being big doesn’t always have it’s advantages in baseball. That is, until he found out that you could knock over the catcher if he ever got in your way. It’s not something that happened every game of course, but when it did happen, Hondo would absolutely destroy the opposing catcher. He was absolutely ruthless and unfortunately, it got him in trouble with the league which was receiving quite a few complaints, especially after Timmy Flanningan had to be taken to the hospital with a broken arm. With that, the league basically told Hondo to either stop it immediately or he was banned from the league for good. Well, Hondo didn’t really believe that they would actually do that, I mean he had been doing this for a long time and this was only the first problem he ever had with it. But, sure enough, one game later, Hondo was out of the league for good. And not just that league, no youth baseball league in the state of Georgia would let him play after what they heard about him. So, with that, Hondo found a new sport where he could actually hit people as much as he wanted and the rest is history. (S10) - PT 3 - Memories - JKortesi81 - 09-16-2018 For Carlito Crush, the most memorable thing for him wasn’t too long ago. I’ll never forget the magic that was my record setting season in Season 9. I’ve said it before, I’ve worked very hard to be considered a good player. I was a former #1 overall draft pick, and so many people considered me a bit of a bust. Leaving Colorado, and becoming an Otter has led me to what transpired last season. 12 of my 14 games were over 100 yards. I had 100 receptions. I had 1532 total yards. And I scored a record setting 17 receiving touchdowns in one season, a feat that I’m incredibly proud of. But that wasn’t all! Sure, we lost in the playoffs, and that was a bummer, but then the award ceremonies came to fruition. I knew I’d be a lock to win Best Wide Receiver, but even then it was still a lovely moment. All of a sudden there was some buzz that I may end up being the league’s MVP as well. I didn’t believe it, to be honest. We had a lot of players with some awesome seasons, you know? Once my name was called, and I was awarded the MVP, I couldn’t believe it. I had been working so very hard to get to this point. From Portland, to Colorado, to Orange County, to switching positions, every trial and tribulation, brought me to that perfect moment. Words still can’t describe how amazing that memory was. (248) (S10) - PT 3 - Memories - ADwyer87 - 09-16-2018 """Speed. I am speed." -Lightning McQueen" -Stormblessed" -Sunnycursed I remember the first time I had a coach ask me to do catching drills. I'd never heard of it before. Like, why would anyone ever work on their hands when they can work on their feet? Total craziness. Naturally, when he told me what we were going to do, I was lost. The reasoning for why they wanted me to do it was silly too. They wanted me to get better. Better?!??! How could I get better? I literally scored a touchdown on every reception I had, you can't get better than that! Then coach started talking about drops, and how I apparently drop 90% of passes thrown my way. But hey, QB gotta throw it better, thats not on me. When I catch the ball, we score, plain and simple. I do my job, make the QB do his. Anyways, it was a really dumb drill, and it was hard. After practice I went to the athletic director in my high school and told him that the coach was touching me inappropriately and he was fired on the spot. After that, we got a new head coach, won a school championship, and I never had to do one of those stupid drills again (S10) - PT 3 - Memories - JVMjrDOT - 09-16-2018 A memorable moment in Jordan von Matt's life was when he first met with a college scout. Jordan was 16 at the time, and dominating at the high school level as a wide receiver. In his mind, he had a college scholarship locked up already, considering how well he was playing. This confidence came to an abrupt halt when he had his first talk with a scout from the University of Washington, who had come to watch one of his games against his high school's rival. The scout confirmed that Jordan had all the necessary skills to make a college roster. There was even potential to go pro. The major problem was Jordan's grades at school. While he was exceptional on the field, in the classroom was where Jordan struggled. The college scout explained to him that no matter how good he was at football, he wouldn't be eligible to play anywhere if he didn't get his grades up. This talk was just what Jordan needed, as he was able to buckle down and focus on his schoolwork for the rest of the year, graduating with high enough marks to get him into the University of Washington. The rest is history, as Jordan now plays for the Kansas City Coyotes, and has been drafted by the Philadelphia Liberty. |
