(S12) - PT 1 - Back to Football - JSS - 12-15-2018 ![]() (S12) - PT 1 - Back to Football - TrueTexican - 12-15-2018 The Portland Pythons are looking really good after picking up some key players and getting some important players back. First off, in the DSFL draft the Pythons picked up Caleb McCoy who looks to take over the reins from Johnson Cox III as the new starting quarterback. They also picked up the top receiver in the draft with Lucius Kane which should help out the team since Errol Maddox is called up to the Baltimore Hawks. Another key draft pick was Corey Trevor who should create some great offense with Beauregard Smallwood-Chess in the backfield. The pair of backs will wreak havoc on a lot of defenses since they can switch off so easily. Roman Stakowski is coming back after getting drafted by Arizona and should give the team some great blocking now that Adrian Pitcher is gone. Finally, David Ginsberg was another great off season addition to replace the defense that was lost over last season. The Pythons made some good moves in getting excellent offensive weapons and should feature another high octane and exciting brand of DSFL football. Fans in Portland and around the world will be happy to see how the team hasn't lost a step and is ready for the next season! He's notched another punter of the year award under his belt, making two total and one kicker of the year award, but he wants more of the latter. Seven years of kicking in the national simulation football league have taken a mental toll, with him consistently being a top kicker, but not THE top kicker. That said, he's also very hyped for the upcoming season. As one of the oldest players on the team, and the one tied with veteran safety Darren Morris for the most years spent as an Outlaw, he's seen the team go through a rough rebuild, but believes their poised for a breakout season, and soon, some hardware as the culmination of years of hard work from everyone in the front office to the coaching staff to the players down on the field, putting in work day in and day out. The Arizona Outlaws made several great offseason pick-ups, including free agent wide receiver Trey Willie, and rookie cornerback Hike Mughes plus rookie runningback Arbin Asipi III who will both be starting on the professional roster immediately. Also, sophomore tight end Steven Moore and sophomore runningback Slim Shady have been called up. The off-season is almost over and football is going to be your life again. How did your player spend their off-season? How does your team look headed into Season 12? Write about the off-season or the upcoming season for your player or team. Lavelle heads into his twelfth official offseason and to be honest, age is catching up with him. He's a shell of his former self and many believe this will be his final season in the NSFL. Regardless of his critics, Lavelle is still performing and preparing the same way he did eleven seasons prior all the way back in S1 when he entered as the leagues' first-ever waiver player. Lavelle spends his offseason working out and putting himself through the paces in an attempt to get up to top-tier conditioning, especially as he heads into a real make or break season for the Yellowknife Wraiths. Lavelle's career is a real fairytale story as he nears the end of it. It looks like S12 will be Lavelles last real season as a player with S13 looking to view him as a player/coach and onfield mentor for Wraiths newest draft picks. Right now Lavelle is playing for legacy and looking to extend all the records at the top of the career leaderboards before he sees his name in the highly coveted NSFL Hall of Fame. S12 will really be a hot and cold season for Lavelle and more so the Yellowknife Wraiths as all eyes will be on them with this constantly changing roster. The challenge has been that even though the team hasn’t done very well the past few seasons, they have a loyal fan base and with all the new young and acquired talent, San Jose fans are starting to recognize the team’s players more and more off the field. So, Xandra and Nax were able to get some practice in at the Tijuana Luchadores’ practice facilities when the team was watching film, lifting, or done with on-field work. Nax, who was always well loved by the staff and team, enjoyed his time as well. The current Luchadores seemed to really brighten up with he was around, especially given their heart breaking loss in the DSFL championships, which they had been hoping to win for the fourth time. Even though there’s a lot of new and higher profile talent, Xandra’s feeling pretty confident that her speed is unmatched, especially after the new drills she was experimenting with recently resulted in her fastest 40 yard dash yet. And, by picking up some salsa classes, her focus, eye-hand-feet coordination, and endurance have picked up, as well! (S12) - PT 1 - Back to Football - iseedoug - 12-16-2018 As most players spend the offseason, Ben Horne spent it in the gym. This offseason Ben’s focus was 100% on increasing his endurance. In addition to working on increasing his endurance, Ben spent notable time in the war room with the SJS head office. As a leader of the team who is interested in the teams future, Ben has been allowed to voice his strategic opinion with the head office. Not only was Ben in the war room this offseason, but his former trainer and agent, now co-GM of the DSFL’s Tijuana Luchadores, Icy Douglas was in the SJS war room this offseason. Apparently, Icy has been doing some unpaid consulting with the Sabercats head office in recent weeks. The product of this time and many others time in the SJS war room was the blockbuster Pennington trade made between the Wraiths and Sabercats right before the season’s start. This trade reunites Ben with his former DSFL teammates, Thad and Chad, as well as create new playing strategy for Ben. While in many situations all 3 star linebackers (Horne, Pennington, and Deringer) can play at once, Ben will be working on playing Defensive End in 2 Linebacker schemes. While this will likely hurt Ben’s overall stats, he hopes it will help the team win more ball games. Words: 217 (S12) - PT 1 - Back to Football - Saliva^ - 12-16-2018 GOMHL PT |
