I think something that the league could use is a new, more automated player update system and/or banking system. I know that it would be a *lot* of work and that JCink makes it a bit difficult to do so, but we're dreaming right now okay? Smile

There are often errors when doing player updates and assigning player TPE, and this leads to problems in regression and contract negotiations. Having a computerized database of all the TPE players have earned would make tracking that easier and put everything in one place, and that can be combined with an updating system that is connected to that which automatically checks that the updates are correct and that the claims are valid. It would save the updating team a lot of time and would save the players a lot of time as the claims could automatically pop into the system for them.

Again, and this is the big problem, is that this would have to be done on a place separate from the forums. It's good to keep everything centered in the same place, and forcing users to jump through many hoops to get things done just makes things less convenient. Plus, there would be a huge upfront cost in time to make the program and killing bugs that it may not even be worth it. I'm sure the great people in the development team have thought about it, and I believe it would be very difficult to implement.

But if there was a sim league genie and I could wish for something to make the league better (that didn't involve giving the Yeti a ring) that would be it.

There would be a simple addition, in my opinion, that would make the league fantastic. It is a grave injustice that at this moment, the greatest sports city in North America, Boston, is not represented in this league. Instead we have teams in certified loser areas: Arizona, New Orleans, Chicago, Baltimore, Colorado, and San Jose all have other major sports teams as well as NSFL teams. These cities are, to be polite, sports garbage. Arizona has the Cardinals and Coyotes, they suck. The Diamondbacks were good 20 years ago. New Orleans had 1 championship w Drew Brees and AD wanted nothing to do with it. Chicago has Rex Grossman and the White Sox. Baltimore has the Orioles and the murderer Ray Lewis. Colorado has the Avalanche who stole Ray Bourque, the Rockies whom were swept by Boston in the 2007 World Series, and the Broncos…lol. San Jose has the Sharks, who are notorious choke artists. There is no reason why Boston is not represented in this league, especially when you are putting teams in places like Yellowknife or Austin. Both of these places not only suck with sports, they actually suck to live there as well. There is a simple solution, and it would make the league much better and give me a legitimate option to consider for Free Agency.

It's hard to decide what would be the right thing to choose. What could I possibly change if it's just one thing? There's a lot I like about this league but a lot of room I see for improvement also. I think I would redo the archetypes again. While I've done this before, I think there was a missed opportunity to really reduce how many we have and make fewer choices. Like on defensive line we have 5 choices for DT. Why? Why not just three? Speed, power, balanced. Linebackers the same. Speed, power, balanced. Receivers? Speed, possession, balanced. Tight ends? Blocking, receiving, balanced. Most positions I see no need to have 5 archetypes for when 3 will do. We have to recall which attributes are most important in this sim and how we can best gear towards that. By reducing choices we can actually increase the variation between builds and help new people not be overwhelmed when they first try and join the league. Choices are great but also can be confusing when presented with too many. The issue is how many problems you can encounter when doing major overhauls. Even then you run into a ton of issues. Nobody wants to have their archetype removed or have it changed. Updaters will hate it and mistakes will be made and...yeah it would be bad.

Honestly the only thing I would change at this point in time is the sim engine. It's broken and everyone knows it. The only problem is that we can't do anything to fix it. That's all on the devs of the game. It sucks to even think about that, but it's the truth. It's broken in so many ways, that it's honestly hard for me to even watch the streams. You have timed when the sim will decide to kick a field goal with a few minutes left even if you're down by 4+. I've also seen it decide to go for it on 4th down when there was literally zero reason to. Everyone hates the huge home field advantage. In real life the home teams win likes 56% of the time or something. In the NSFL I swear it's closer to 90%. It's at the point where a lot of people just put the home team in predictions because you're likely gonna be right. It's just dumb. Also, I think the creators of the game only enjoy watching the run game because that's basically all that works. Like I said, though, that's on the sim engine itself. Outside of finding a new game to sim in there's nothing we can even do.

One major thing I would change about the league is the Double Draft Media Week. It’s a great way to quickly earn some money, and I’ll admit that I’ve definitely benefited from it myself, but it also causes many problems. Many of the most talented media authors we have will store all of their creative talents until draft day, where they unleash one 6000+ word article that they’ve been writing all year to earn enough money for a couple seasons. This discourages people from writing any content during the normal pay in the season. In addition, because the draft media is so lucrative, people will churn out five or six versions of the same basic article concepts - draft rankings, mock drafts, and prospect lists to name a few - that quickly grow repetitive and get less interesting to read. I think the solution to this is to dissolve Double Draft Week and instead have two variable weeks of 1.5X payout spread throughout the season. The topics that these would focus on would change from year to year. Not only would this greatly expand the scope of possible articles, it also encourages writing throughout the entire year and dissuades people from sitting on relevant content for the entire year so that they can cash in on double payout.

I am enjoying my time in the league, but there are definitely a few changes that would be beneficial, some pretty easy to implement and others probably a lot more difficult.

My first suggestion would be easy to implement, heck it could be an option already. I would really like to have a spoiler free option to check out the games, something I could click on that takes me directly to the play by play for the selected game. Often I don't have the option to watch the stream, do reading through the play by play would provide some suspense.

The stream itself could use a bit of work too, I would love to see the plays that result in incompletions and maybe some more info on the plays that are called back via penelties. Also, I wish the box scores were more robust, with targets, drops, etc. I have no idea if that's even feasible with the sim but it would be nice.

Finally, the sim itself is definitely lacking. I know this has been brought up a ton, and have no idea what other options are available, but it would be cool to have a more realistic game experience.

Oh, and an update tool would be great, the current method is a pain in the ass on mobile and my desk top is broken.

I really enjoy my time here in the league and if I had to choose one thing that I would like to show some improvement is the sim engine. There are a lot of frustrating results that usually share two things in common: playcalling and penalties; about the latter, its unacceptable to have an offensive drive completely ruined because your QB goes to commit an “offensive pass interference” penalty. One solution that has been suggested is to turn penalties off, but that certainly would make the games less interesting. As for plays, I can't understand why on certain occasions when there's the possibility to tie or win game (field goal range), the team just punts it away instead of kicking a field goal; also, there's a case in which the team that is winning by a good margin still goes for it on 4th down when they're at in their own side of the field. At this point, I just hope Wolverine Studios would be able to fix many of these details with their upcoming version of the sim or else start thinking about using something else like Madden. Anyway, a change is needed to make the livestream games a bit more appealing to watch.

I just want a better sim for the games. It really bothers me just how trash this sim is. I think that homes field advantage is severely way too overpowered. It seems that whoever has home field is practically guaranteed to win the game, no matter what. I am just not a fan of practically knowing the outcome before it even happens, just by looking at where the game is being played.

I think that another problem with the sim is defense. The only defense that you can do in the sim is Nickel 35. Every other defense is just garbage compared Nickel 35, and it really is sad. There is no strategy at all to it. You do not have to plan at all because you can just slap on nickel 35 on to your defense and call it a day. I really wish there were different schemes to consider and really have to take in to account the players that you have, and work around that.

I also wish that there was more than one viable type of runningback. In this league. If you aren't a speed runningback with speed maxed out at 100, you are going to put up numbers very much less than 100 speed running backs. And that just is not realistic at all. In the NFL, there are many different types of RBS. Marshawn Lynch is an all time great rb, but if you tried to he like him, too bad, you suck and should reconsider every thing you do.
