The Kansas City Coyotes are up and coming. Young on both sides of the ball, there is a lot to look forward to. On the defensive side of things, we'll break it down with the good, the bad and the ugly so far this season. We'll also make some predictions to expect moving forward.

The Good: the rush defense
The Coyotes have been elite when stopping the run so far this season. Through four games, they have a DSFL best 144.5 yards allowed on the ground per game. In a league where Full Backs can run for over 100 yards per game, this is impressive. The Coyotes have been stacking the box early and have found success slowing down early-down runs.

The Bad: field position
Through some turnovers and mental mistakes, field position has not been a strong point this season. The defense has found itself defending a short field various times so far, with not much success keeping teams out of the end zone. Teams have also had some sustained drives against the Coyotes as well, not helping the field position struggle at times.

The Ugly: the pass defense
The biggest weakness of the team this season is stopping the pass. The Yotes have given up a league worst 232.3 yards per game through the air thus far. Teams have found throwing on early downs to be highly successful, picking up chunk plays galore.

Season Outlook: plenty to look forward to
Going forward, expect both the rush and pass defense to fall more towards the norm. The coaching staff is still working on getting the secondary to gel, which should help alleviate some of the passing woes. Alternately, I expect the rush defense will regress a bit as the team shifts more focus on covering up the passing issues. Overall, this team is still finding their groove. I expect the Coyotes to find themselves in the playoffs and competing to win it all. On an individual level, keep an eye on rookie Free Safety Mason Blaylock. He has posted 2 sacks, a FF and FR, and is tied for 1st in tackles at the FS position. He also earned a Defensive Player of the Game honor as well. Don't be surprised to find him continually harassing the offense the rest of the season.

Baltimore's defense was one of two faces coming into this season. We had the best group of DBs in the league lead by veterans Xandra Troyski and Arbin Asipi III, with young safeties Terim Fatih and Walt Green who are about to hit their peaks. However, with the unexpected loss of Axel Hornbacher, we had not only an ageing defense line, but also an aging linebacker group that wouldn't be able to fill that loss. Fortunatly S18 Draft pick Fabricio Baldari is ready to go to be our new DE, and Dorfus Jimbo made an unexpected move to S after the aquisition of runningback Ludicolo Bigby. Dorfus will be able to fill in at NB or LB as needed. And after just the first week of games, the team made a big trade for veteran D'Pez Poopsie who helps to fill our other DE hole for the next several seasons as we look to bring in younger players. After two games our defense is looking stellar. While Eco’s tpe tracker lists our defense as only the 4th highest in TPE, we are the second highest in the NSFC which should be good enough to send us into the playoffs. If a little bit of sim luck goes our way, We might just be able to hold of YKW for home field advantage to the Ultimus.

Last season the New Orleans Second Line had a very solid attack and rush defense, but we got torched through the air. In an effort to solve that problem, between the end of last season and week 2 of this season, we added a staggering 1274 TPE to our defensive lineup. Not only are we very young, but we’ve been building steadily for a long time. One of the top earners of the S17 class in Jordan Andrews has been developing alongside Deon Taylor, a great player who has been with the team since the S15 draft. My backup RB switched to safety to help shore up our secondary, his speed and lateral movement ability will be huge there. Swift is lined up beside Rector, traditionally a cornerback but playing as a quick as hell strong safety. Our linebacking corps has been impressive since the S15 class, and we’ve built on that in this draft. Moving our edge rushing star, Johnny Slothface, to DE and calling up an exciting young prospect immediately in Thudd Kassel to replace him at SLB. As normal, we have the polar bear extraordinaire Quenton Bode at MLB. Our defensive line is star studded, with newly converted defensive tackle and trade acquisition Blake Faux lined up beside Bjorn Ironside, and team veteran Lo Rax completing it.

Written Option: Write about your team's defense. Go into detail about why they are good, bad, average, underrated, or young and growing. Maybe predict how they will finish in the league stat wise. As long as you stay on topic, I’m to however you want to write it.

I think that the Austin Copperheads defense is gonna be okay this season. Right now, the Copperheads need to just focus on growing the youth that we have because to be honest we have a lot of stars in the making. On the defensive line, we have veteran stars in Wizardry and Kuusela. Kuusela I believe was entirely robbed of defensive lineman of the year last season with all of this anti-copperheads bias going on. The dude had a sack in literally every single game. Anyway, we have some up and coming guys too like Ennis and Bradberton. The LB corps is stacked with veteran Bakshi along with upcomers in Edmond and Gaines. I think going forward that LB group will be one of the best in the league. They are active and just have to keep building on the solid bases that they already have. Then in the defensive backfield we have Lavelle Jr, Okura, Adams, and myself. I believe that my player is coming into his own this season as one of the league's top tacklers and 2 interceptions. Lavelle Jr is still a beast as he was projected to be. Okura and Adams are younger, but they have a hell of a lot of potential. Overall, we still have some TPE building to do, but there are a lot of good things to like about the defense. Filled to the brim with active players who just have to put in the work now.
