(S19) PT4 - ‘Tis the Season - SouljaBoy2007 - 12-28-2019

I used Christmas as a reason to go home and spend time with my wife and son, as the travel during the season makes it hard to stay at home for long periods of time. I needed the break badly because this season has been rough physically and mentally. We had a good time opening presents and singing Christmas songs. My wife's parents came to stay for the holidays and they were a blast to have over. They live in Illinois and are huge Butchers fans. I got them a signed Leaf Jr. jersey and a game ball. I got my son a power wheels car and he has been driving around my front yard endlessly. My wife got her childhood dream car of a Jeep and a necklace. I also went to the Outlaws CFB party a few days after christmas. Unfortunately, my alma mater is not anywhere near playoff caliber but it's fun to see guys that are brothers on the field argue over their old college teams. Bucky gave himself a gatorade shower after Penn State won in OT against Florida. I had a great time during our few days off for the holidays and I hope that everyone else did too! Back to preparing for the next games ahead of us.

This winter, Ashley Owens went home to Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin to spend the winter holidays with his parents, older brother, and older sister. Also his dogs! The first order of business was obtaining a Christmas tree. Ashley and his dad took their old Ford (Owens bought his parents some new cars, but his dad refuses to use it) out to the Christmas tree farm to pick one up. As is tradition, they made sure to get the absolute tallest possible one that would still fit within their home. After the tree: decorating the tree! Festive ornaments made it shine and, naturally, a star to top it. Then presents were loaded under the Christmas tree, and the family retreated to their old bedrooms! All through the night, not a single creature was stirring, not even a....Yeti? Something like that. Anyways, come morning, the family gathered, had a nice breakfast, and opened presents. Ashley’s brother gave him a gag gift: a fake ticket to the Ultimus in a box... “so you can still go!” It was in jest of course, not malicious; brotherly love and all that. After that, the family spent the day at top golf then mini golf. It’s easy to burn a day that way, trust me.

This holiday the city of New Orleans, and more importantly the fans of the Second Line, got one hell of a Christmas gift: a playoff win. Since the team started this rebuild in S14, we have never even made it to a playoff game, let alone pulled out a win in one. This has been something we have worked for as a collective for so long that to see it pan out this successfully has been truly incredible. On our board in our film room “Host a playoff game” has been sitting there all season under “Goals” next to “Get Fyodo his 10k career yards”, and we managed to achieve both of those this season. Obviously, the new goal is to make it to the Ultimus and then win, and that’s what we’re focused on now, but for just this Christmas, we got a playoff win. Forrest got home on the night of the 27th, tired from the game and the partying down Bourbon Street afterwards, to find his Christmas decorations still up. This was more of a holiday than Christmas turned out to be for him, because Christmas comes every year. This had never happened before. And you know what? He played pretty damn well during that game too.

Christmas is truly the Season of Giving which is why the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers used their one off-day this week to visit the less unfortunate children at their local hospital, the Grand Strand Medical Center.

Earlier when Jeffrey LaVert was younger and entering high school, his younger brother had suffered from a rare disease known as Kawasaki Disease, which had resulted in him losing the ability to walk (temporarily), caused the skin all over his body to peel and made him very tired in general. It was a very tough time for the entire family but the young boy had a lot of support and people that supported him during his time of need.

Grateful to all of those that helped his brother in his time of need, Jeffrey made it a point to be there for those that might need him. I want to be their idol, I want to be a positive role model in these kids’ lives, he thought to himself, hoping to be looked up to and wanting to make a difference in the childrens’ lives as he lugged around a massive bag of toys from the team’s annual toy drive.

At the end of the day, Christmas isn’t always about giving/receiving gifts, it’s also about spending time with the people you love and the positive experiences you share with them, whether it be at the dinner table or under the christmas tree. It is why we celebrate and make it such a joyous occasion essentially, but there are people that cannot afford to do that due to constraints, which was why Jeffrey and his teammates spend time doing toy drives every christmas season to those that may need/want to share those experiences with someone.

If you already saw a couple of my previous writings, you saw it all. Because you guessed it, Kulture Fulture once again spending a big holiday (whether it's Christmas, New Year or other one)... or more like wasting his time with his pals and drinking a hella amount of alco. Obviously, he never cared much what are his teammates were doing and he even didn't attend to a team's Christmas party cause of the reasons above. Then he probably recalled he has a family. Some newsmakers spotted him in his hometown, Youngstown and he most likely indeed spent some time with his family as well. Anyways, he is back in Chicago and I guarantee that he is about to have a week long party. And it doesn't even matters that the New Year party should be over by January 1st. He will find any reason to prolong his fun, especially when it's offseason. Example: he knows that Orthodox people are celebrating Christmas in January 7th. He ain't even Orthodox, but that won't stop him from partying. He just can't stop won't stop with that.

Other Christmas traditions? What you mean?
Giving gifts? What the hell is that?
Waiting for gifts from Santa? Wait, he's too old for that. But he obviosuly won't turn over a gift from other people, that's for sure.
At least he visited his family for a dinner. At least one tradition that he's done in these holidays.

Good ol' Kulture Fulture, never changing his persona.

This Christmas is a little bit different from the previous ones as this will be Jayson Kearse's first Christmas away from his family. This year he's going to celebrate the holiday with his new team in Yellowknife. Apparently there is a tradition were the rookies buy all the alcohol fir the party and considering Cooter Bigsby is our QB the bill was a lot higher then you'd think, moonshine isn't cheap. But it isn't all bad for the rookies because the veterans on the team care about the new players. GM Gideon Graves but me a giant parkas with the Wraiths logo on it to keep me warm during the long winter. My mentor Nero Alexander bought me a watch so I would never be late for practice, it hasn't happened yet he said he wants to make sure I have no excuse if it does happen. Last was Cooter Bigsby I'm not if he realizes I play defense or not, maybe he was thankful for all the moonshine but he set me up with a new 4k TV and a new gaming system. All in all I enjoyed my first Christmas here in Yellowknife and I'm hoping to help gift my team and the fans another Ultimus trophy.

Thorian Skarsgard always celebrates Christmas, and he always makes sure that he's at home to do so, even if it's only for a day. His mother and father ingrained in him at a young age that Christmas was a special time to spend with family and other loved ones. His parents always pick him up from the airport, and usually his grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins are already at the house. No matter how long he gets to come home for, he always has an incredible time. He treasures his time with family, as he only gets to see them a few times a year. It's one of the hardships of playing football on the opposite side of the country, or even on the opposite side of an ocean, from those you love. It is a traditional Norwegian Christmas celebration, with his mother and grandmother preparing a meal of roast pork belly, sauerkraut and boiled potatoes. They then spend the evening gathered around a warm fireplace catching up and sharing stories from the year. Before they head off to bed, Thorian goes around an hides any brooms in the house. Norwegian tradition claims that Christmas Eve is a day of evil spirits and witches, so they hide the brooms before bed, and it has been Thorian's job ever since he was a child. On Christmas day they open gifts and just generally spend more time together as a family. It's something Thorian looks forward to every, single year.

Written Option: Write about how your player or teammates are celebrating this holiday season! If they don’t celebrate any of the religious holidays, you can use New Year’s.

Dermot Lavelle Jr. didn't celebrate christmas this year. Nor did he celebrate New Years Eve or New Years Day, he didn't even have a pint throughout the month of december. Unusual considering that his parents are rampant alcoholics due to them being Irish.

Lavelle Jr. spent the entire offseason running himself into the ground, in order to get ready for the upcoming offseason following th Austin Copperheads first round defeat in this years playoffs, alas this does make 2 consecutive years of playoff appearences for the new franchise, a landmark moment for them all.

Lavelles primary focus for the offseason camps was to improve his ability to read quarterbacks and get to a position where he can force turnovers. His lack of ability to make the big plays has been highly documentated throughout his short four season career and he's going to put in the work needed to change this as quickly as possible.

Lavelle has been consistent in what he has been asked to do in his starting CB role with the Copperheads thus far, he tackles hard, he breaks up passes with his deflections and he snags the occasional interception. On return duty, he's been lightning as well. He's been performing a little under what everybody has expected from him though, as the son of the greatest defensive player in NSFL history.

For most people, the holiday season is a great time for everyone to relax, relieve some stress, and take some days off to maybe spend with their families or whatever. But for professional athletes that isn't the case and Galf Wilf is no exception to that. Sure, as the end of the year rolls around he tries to find some time to either have his family fly out to see him or vice versa. Now that he's literally on the other side of the country from where he grew up trying to fulfill his dream of playing in the NSFL, it makes this time of year even harder, especially since the season starts to run into the holiday months. This winter, in his first, and hopefully only, season in the developmental league, Wilf was able to get his family flown out from New Jersey to see the final game of the season in Myrtle Beach and then they will also be joining him for the NFC championship game in Minnesota against the Grey Ducks. Hopefully, Galf and the Pythons can perform better in the postseason than they did against the Buccaneers and give his family a nice gift to start the new year. Either way, he'll be returning with them after the final game of the season to finally get a little bit of rest and relaxation as he prepares for the upcoming NSFL draft.
