One of the biggest busts in recent memory, many people have been already discussing, as you read through this point task. That is the Great Bust of Season 19, Sweet James-Jones, Wide Receiver out of Third Ward University. He was drafted by the Chicago Butchers with the Sixth Pick in the Season 19 NSFL draft, after they had already drafted Sean O’Leary with the 4th Pick of the same draft. They could have gone a lot of other ways, but instead took what was perceived as a cancerous pick, there, with Sweet James-Jones. I would not doubt that he would have fallen to their second-round pick, at 19th Overall, if not further. But I digress, as Sweet James-Jones was a problem throughout his short-lived time in the league. He got a hell of a lot of money out of Chicago, as well as signing an extension only to be permanently banned from the league within the following week of that extension. Probably one of the biggest mistakes Chicago ever made was drafting him, when there were still so many other options out there to take, hell, Rayne Gordon was taken one pick later, Mason Blaylock one after that. There were so many other options that Chicago really just shit the bed with this draft pick.

I dont think this is a good PT because the only answer here is Sweet James Jones drafted by the Chicago Butchers. At first it seemed like it could be fun, drafting two wide receivers in the same draft super early, creating an elite receiving core for the Butchers. However there seemed to be one thing that Chicago overlooked: Sweet said he never wanted to go there. Why draft someone who has no interest in playing for you? Might as well draft an IA, cause thats what Sweet ended up doing. There were several better users available including user Rain which would have benefited Chicago so much more and they wouldn't be in the middle of their rebuild right now. Now that was not the only thing wrong with Sweet, as he had an attitude problem. The best way to describe him was the bad rapper in the old 2k where you played as Frequency Vibrations mixed with the old pastor who sang that Jesus Christ was his (choiceword). Sweet thought he was the best in the league without proving it and unfortunately I don't think I have seen many individuals succeed in the league with such a toxic personality, and Sweet was just one name in a list of draft busts.

(P.S. I dont think this was a good PT. I like the idea of a history PT, but this is difficult to do for most users post s20. Draft busts are not as documented as HoF are. I would say be a bit easier on this one because there are only a few busts.)

Mr. Beard, drafted 5th overall and retired shortly thereafter. Showing his potential even after retirement.. What could have been.

Given that this PT is called Boom or Bust, I'd suggest in the future maybe giving the option of writing about a draft bust, or a steal.... I really dislike writing negatively, but will give it a go because... TPE.

As has already been written by many others in this PT, I will be covering the story of Sweet James Jones from the Season 19 NSFL draft class. He is a bust for a number of reasons, not the least of which is his now permanent ban on the site. One of the biggest things that stands out when discussing Sweet James Jones is the fact that Chicago had already drafted a wide receiver just two picks earlier with the fourth overall pick in Sean O'Leary. Sean of course is one of the current stars of the Butchers roster and turned out to be a fantastic pick. Sadly, the same cannot be said for Sweet James Jones.

Jones was already a questionable pick for Chicago, given he had expressed multiple times a desire not to be selected there. Regardless, Chicago took him 6th overall. Jones proceeded to fight with the GM at the time, eventually leaving the league entirely when his IRL best friend got slighted. Eventually they returned and chaos ensued. Regrettable things were said, and eventually poor Sweet James Jones was removed from the league permanently. And thus ends our sad tale of the 6th overall pick in the season 19 draft class.
