Now that the Tijuana Luchadores have sealed home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, I am feeling really good when I say that the Luchadores have the opportunity of a lifetime in becoming 7x Ultimini Champions. With the great quarterback duo of Waters and Slothlisberger, the awesome Back and Gilbert in the backfield, the insane defensive core featuring players like Hexagon and Valdyr, and of course the Special teams maestro Jacob Small *wink wink* who could be DSFL Kicker and Punter of the year, but that is just a theory. As much as I wish I could name everyone, it would be a waste because everyone on the Luchadores is a strength to the team. After a rather slow start, everything went our way as the season progressed, especially compared to the mess of last season. Instead of losing 4 straight, we won 4 straight, and that is just one of the few things that changed for us. We have 3 sweeps on the season and you better believe if we meet up with one of those teams again, the result WILL NOT be any different from the previous games! The playoffs are 3 weeks away and I am feeling like the Luchadores have a fantastic shot to succeed this season.

If that doesn't work.

At the end of the regular season for the DSFL, only four teams remained. These were the Norfolk Seawolves and the Tijuana Luchadores for the SFC south, and the Minnesota Grey Ducks and the London Royals for the SFC North. There is only one possible outcome for the playoffs in my eyes, and the clear winner is the Minnesota Grey Ducks. This is because of our resilience and determination that has been shown throughout the season, after starting the season 1-3, the whole team didn't stop our dream of an Ultimini, we only wanted it more. Now 9-6 and in possession of the 1st seed in the SFC North, with a home game against the Royals to start. A dark horse that I can see would have to be Norfolk, as they had crawled there way into the playoffs after starting 1-4, very similar to my own Grey Ducks. I hope both the Grey Ducks and the Seawolves make the Ultimini, so we can have our 3rd match up this season. I believe the player to watch will be my player, Jamar Lackson, as after having a terrible season by efficiency standards, he will hope to prove all doubters wrong, and carry the Ducks to the Championship, like he has felt that he should have been doing all along.

The DSFL is really competitive right now. Only two weeks ago, the NFC North had a three way tie for second place. Now, the SFC South is in the same position *and* the NFC North has a two way tie for second. Both conferences have teams that have edged out as the clear frontrunners - the Luchadores and the Grey Ducks. But, the DSFL and NSFL have had their fair share of upsets this season.

The SFC South is such a hard call. It is really anyone's game. Part of the equation is which Birddogs team is going to show up. Their gamelog clearly shows that they have gone through spurts of losses and wins. If they can't pull out the two road games left in their season, then their playoff hopes look bleak. If they show up, they can win out the rest of the season, and they have the potential given the new acquisitions off waivers.

The NFC North is in a similar situation. The London Royals started off the season winning four of their first five games, then went on a losing streak which was broken in Week Eleven. If their new acquisitions have opened up new strategy options and filled in some holes, perhaps they could finish what they started. Conversely, KC is at home for the remainder of the season, and while they might have the longest path to the playoffs, they could disrupt the Birddogs in the last week of the season in a very meaningful way.

The post-season is right around the corner in the DSFL and at this point in time there is normally a clear cut favorite emerging to hoist the Ultimini but this season seems to be a little bit different. We are entering the final week of the season and not a single team has been eliminated from playoff contention, so every locker room around the league has to be on edge and wondering whether they will be rejoicing or left heartbroken at the end of Week 14.

When it comes to picking the champion this season I have to look a little bit deeper in the rankings and pick the Dallas Birddogs to be the last ones standing when all the smoke clears. Yes Tijuana and Minnesota are looking quite comfortable at the moment, but when it comes to the playoffs you never know what can happen and the hard work of the Dallas front-office in recent weeks has ensured that the team is quite stout defensively. This coupled with an offense that is full of play-makers makes the Birddogs a dangerous match up for any team in the playoffs.

Defense and Special Teams wins championships and Dallas's commitment to strengthening in this area as the season comes to a close will surely pay off for them as they hoist the Ulitmini at the end of the season as the DSFL champions.

After watching this past weeks game it is clear that the biggest threat to win are the Minnesota Grey ducks. Faced with two games on the road they come out with a strong showing in both games and a respectable 1-1 record. When it comes down to it this is a team no one is gonna wanna see in the playoffs. Their defense played amazing in both games. Defensive Back Matt Krause especially deserves a shout out. He single handedly makes the football field half as large. Teams dont even consider targeting him and when they make that mistake he will make you pay. Next up is a running back who will hit you hard and hit you fast - Jamar Lackson. Jamar puts up a strong consistent 4 yards per carry and just wears that defense down. Your offense might have a difficult matchup against the Grey Ducks defense but Jamar Lackson is making your defense miserable. With two home games coming up I see the grey ducks with a nice clear road to the playoffs where I think people will find that they are the same team they have been in the past as they take the championship. It would also be an incomplete write up if I ignored the presence of a generational kicking prospect. If you let the grey ducks get past mid field you can damn near guarentee they are dropping 3 points on you.

With there still being a few games left to play in the regular season, it seems a little premature to speculate about which team is going to be the favorite going into the playoffs. With that in mind however, I still believe the league is in the same position as it was a season earlier where it would be foolish to look past either the Orange County Otters or the New Orleans Second Line to become the Ultimus champions once more this season. I think the Yellowknife Wraiths could once again be somewhere in the mix, but I personally see them coming up slightly short once more and it being an ASFC team that takes home the trophy. I would like to say I anticipate my player making some sort of playoff contribution this season, but based on what I've seen so far from the Sailfish I just don't think it's on the cards that we make it into the playoffs, and even if we do, it will be very different for us to get past any of our potential opponents. As I've said, I'm predicting another championship for either the Otters or the Second Line based on their consistency this season and the history of success their front offices have. While their rosters remain as intact as they are, it's hard to see other teams pushing ahead of them.

Quote:In 200 words, look ahead towards the postseason, either NSFL or DSFL. Who do you see coming out on top? What dark horse teams do you think can make a run? Will your player be a vital part of your team’s championship, or will you be sobbing on the couch at home? Give your best predictions here.

The London Royals of the Developmental Simulation Football League are going to win the Developmental Simulation Football League playoffs and take home the Developmental Simulation Football League Cup, Trophy, Bowl, whatever its called. Why do I say this you ask? Multiple reasons. First, they're competing with Portland for the last playoff spot of the Developmental Simulation Football League playoffs, and Portland has Trautner who is stinky, so Portland will miss the playoffs. Secondly, the London Royals of the Developmental Simulation Football League recently picked me up on waivers, and I am god-mode TE that will carry them probably nowhere, except to the Trophy / Award / Cup / Bowl. Whatever gets awarded for winning the Developmental Simulation Football League playoffs.

In the National Simulation Football League, I have no idea who will win, but I know who won't. Orange County won't win for multiple reasons. 1, they have Speculadora / Paquette / Paq, whatever his name is on this god forsaken website. Additionally, Joe K just dunked on them, and it's highly unlikely they'll ever recover.

To summarize this brilliant PT, the London Royals will be winning the Developmental Simulation Football League playoffs, while the Orange County Otters will not be winning the National Simulation Football League playoffs.
