(S2) - Weekend PT #2 - Rookies first practice - Muford - 07-23-2017 The first rookie practice that took place in San Jose was something to be remembered. Besides the fact that the Sabercats brought in ten rookies this year, and it looks like they can help change the team around. One thing that has been noticed early on were the three linemen brought in to play with Ben Longshaw. Longshaw has been mentoring Vincent Sharpei, Jordan Yates, and Braden Sharp very well, and showing them the ropes falls in with how San Jose runs their offense. Dan Miller has been showing Chidubem Okonkwo and Enchilada Charlton the ropes on the defensive end. Something that should be looked forward on these next few rookie practices is how the offensive and defensive line work against each other and the unity they are already forming so early in camp. You know things always get heated on the field, even with rookies. The Sabercats are building a dynasty and it is great to see your O-Line go against the D-Line, but something that always happens in the end, is no matter how heated things get they still build together and want to build cohesion off the field as well. San Jose is looking really good this off-season, and hopefully they can bring more pride back to San Jose. (212 Words) (S2) - Weekend PT #2 - Rookies first practice - jparks98 - 07-23-2017 The first day of training camp is a favorite for everyone. Fans know that means we are closing in on the start of the season. The practice gives coaches their first chance to see how to incorporate their new players. It gives former players the ability to gain chemistry and trust in the new players. But most importantly it gives rookies their first chance to play for the NSFL. This is truer for the Colorado Yeti than any team as they lost key pieces in Vinny Cox and Vikian Marmeladov. Instead of trying to make superstar deals they trusted rookies to their places. From the looks of training camp so far, they were not wrong in doing that. Throughout training camp, Roman Thomas, Big Bot, Blaster Blade, and quarterback turned safety Torque Lewith, was making plays from everywhere on the field. When talking to Johnathon Saint about them he said this, “Man it’s crazy how good they are already. They are almost making my job way too easy. I think the offense actually hate them right now. Maybe it will change when we play someone else...they are like an anarchist group or something, like a Ruckus Society. They love to just wreak havoc and cause chaos on the field.” (S2) - Weekend PT #2 - Rookies first practice - adam2552 - 07-23-2017 The first team practice for the Philadelphia Liberty was likely much different than any other team’s first practice of S2. The Philadelphia Liberty have a team that is comprised mostly of S2 rookies, a whopping 16 of them in all. Due to the unique roster composition, many of these rookies would be asked to take on leadership roles in the locker room. Thankfully they all stepped up to the plate in that aspect. Guys like Micah Hendrix, Paul DiMirio, and Fox North have established themselves as go to guys for questions from other offensive rookies. On defense Tyler Oles, Kristoffer O’Sullivan, and Perry Tucker have taken control and really set the tone for what the team expects of their defensive players. Not to be out done, their veterans like Omar Wright and Stephen Harris have exceed all expectations and set the bar for all rookies to follow. With the players so heavily invested in the idea of building a champion from the ground up, it almost seems inevitable that one will be paraded through Philadelphia in the next few seasons. And the guys at the forefront of that parade will be the guys who were at the core of building the culture for this organization. Things are certainly looking promising for the Liberty, this season and beyond. (S2) - Weekend PT #2 - Rookies first practice - Gwdaja - 07-23-2017 The air is clear, the birds are chirping, the field is freshly cut...and Darlane Farlane is running like a madman. All the blocks are lining up, and even when it looks like a hole is closing - boom - he blows through at an alarming speed. Then a bubble screen to him, and he's nearly impossible to catch. This is just a practice, but dear god almighty this man can move. It's easy to get excited about the upcoming season, everything is clicking so far. Looks like the offense will come out as a reinvigorated unit. The rookie O-Linemen are doing work in the trenches and making a name for themselves. Farlane and Kyubee will be the most thankful for the line improvements, but it's just a welcome progression (and a much needed one) for the team overall. On defense, people are looking aggressive and plays are being recognized quickly. Hendrix is a standout as usual, and rookie Darnell Turner is impressing with lock down coverage and even coming down hard on run support. Reports after practice are making it sound like the Hawks may turn to a run-heavy offense, so that Kyubee can progress with less pressure on him. Probably a good strategy, and one that will work out, with the new line and starting RB. Code: Words: 214 (S2) - Weekend PT #2 - Rookies first practice - Rabidsponge21 - 07-23-2017 Rookie Hazing. It's part of every single major sports league. Some let the players run out first alone to do laps, other make them buy dinner for the entire team with their first real paycheque, others have a little to much fun with sharpies. Vegas does things a little bit differently. Late to party Iyah Blewitt has joined the Las Vegas Legion late before the pre season starts, because of this, they made sure to make his first practice....a 'welcoming' one. Reporters captured Blewitt shortly after arriving for his 1st practice. The Legion manager pulled him aside and said he had a photo shoot to do 1st as a way to build up some hype for their new kicker and the team going into this season. Happy to help the team any way he could he suited up (literally) and got ready to go to work. Unfortunately after setting up what looked to be a photo shoot ![]() Blewitt was lead outside onto the field for 'better lighting' where he was subsequently met by his entire teams roster as practice had already started. Laughs and cat calls had the young kicker laughing but embarrassed to help break the ice in this young players career. The part that caught the camera crew and team off guard? Blewitt who say a football t'ed up for a kick, proceeded to waltz over in his tap dancing like shoes, and put it between the wickets, dead center from 45 yards out. :jawdrop: :jawdrop: :jawdrop: Yeah, I think he had the last laugh. All good fun in the 1st training camp for this young promising rookie. (S2) - Weekend PT #2 - Rookies first practice - Jogn - 07-23-2017 There are whispers on the sidelines. They're understandable. CBC North is the only full-time media establishment in the Northwest Territories, and they don't have a permanent bureau in Yellowknife, so sportswriters have had to come up from Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary to write about Canada's hottest team, the Yellowknife Wraiths. "That's Matt James, eh?" one reporter asks "didn't he hold out from Philadelphia? What did they trade to get him?" "Yeah" says another "Jazzie J and a 4th. He signed here cheap though, only on 500,000 for 3 years." "Think it was worth it?" "Oh ya. We'll see a lot out of him this year, he's thrown himself into activity and that'll pay off in the gym and on the field" "But what about the character concerns? He's really been stirring the pot with the old management. Think he'll fit in here?" "Well we said that last year about Jogn and Mat - if they're fighting all the time, how are they going to find the time to work together on the field, eh. We asked questions about Jogn and Ricky when they signed those front-loaded contracts, about if they were just going to be trade chips if they refused to play season 2" Suddenly, a misthrown football interrupts the conversation, nailing one journalist in the shoulder and boucing into their other's face. The second throws it back, and both immediately apologize for being in the way. "Guess we'll have to see, eh" (S2) - Weekend PT #2 - Rookies first practice - Kristy95 - 07-23-2017 I was very excited for the first practice of the new season. I knew it would be a huge change to how college practices went. I was nervous to meet my teammates and to face off with some of the elite Wide Receiver we have on our team. But most importantly, I wanted to meet and practice with my cornerback colleague Tyler Oles. He will be on the other side of the field as the other starting cornerback and together we want to shut down opposing offenses. He had been drafted much earlier than myself and therefore I was definitely nervous about meeting him and look up to him as a player. I know I can learn a lot from him, despite both of us being rookies. It was immediately noticeable that he had a certain something. He was professional, dedicated and precise about the different exercises. And most importantly, I noticed he had a certain speed in his step that was hard to keep up with. I knew immediately that I wanted to practice and work harder so that I wouldn't fall behind and wanted to measure up to him and make our team better in the long run. By trying to copy him, I know both of us can end up being better. (S2) - Weekend PT #2 - Rookies first practice - XxpurplepurpsxX - 07-23-2017 Wow, my first practice as a rookie was a daunting experience. Just walking into the outlaws facility I knew that I was joining the start of something great. Coming in to an established championship locker room was making me quake in my boots. Meeting the whole team went pretty well I managed to stammer out some "hello"s and a couple of "nice to meet you" to the veteran players of the team. The rookies all got together next and started to mingle among one another, Tim Pest and C.A Chess were the two most notable personalities among the rest of the rookies. Pest was too busy getting hazed by the rest of the team to get to know him too well but Chess was gracious enough to sit down and talk about his experience with me. That helped me get a little more comfortable because it helped me see that everyone has their own unique way of getting on to the team and now that we are all here it is time for all of us to work together and bring another championship to Arizona. The other player I was really excited to meet was Ryan Flock he helped me a lot during the first practice, as the other safety on the roster we worked together out on the field quite a bit the first day. Flock guided me through some of our defensive schemes and even gave me some tips on what equipment has worked best for him in the NSFL. It was a great practice and going home later that night I knew that the Outlaws were going to be the greatest show on turf this year Code: 281 words (S2) - Weekend PT #2 - Rookies first practice - Vikain - 07-23-2017 That time of the year where fresh faces are looking to settle into their new teams. But the Philadelphia Liberties have all new faces, as this is their inaugural year in the NSFL. WIth just a few veterans in the mix, most of the player body count comes from Rookies that were just drafted. As Philadelphia and Las Vegas being the two teams that just expanded they have the tough task of getting everyone situated and building the chemistry as fast as they can. For the Liberties they are going to look for Veteran Marmeladov to help lead the youngsters into the season. Many fans that attended the first practice for the team, could see Marmeladov talking to everyone on the field. You could see many of the rookies flocking over to him to ask some questions. It feels strange to Marmeladov as may we not forget this is only his second year. “It's a little weird since I still have to learn a lot and work to get better. But at least I can give these guys some knowledge of how my first year went and teach them some things that I learned. So far they are like sponges, their learning plays like crazy and the talent they are bringing to the team, it's making me really excited on what we can do this year”. (S2) - Weekend PT #2 - Rookies first practice - Anti-Hype - 07-23-2017 Here in Vegas the amount of rookies we have is quite low but the talent is not! As we were able to find some gems in the rough late in the S2 Draft and we filled some positions of need! First and foremost we have a battle going on for the starting running back positions. Between perpetual underdog Kyle Cobb and the unanimous top dog when it comes to the RB position for S2 rookies Ardie Savea. A lot of people are expecting Savea to make short work of Cobb in this battle but I think Cobb has been showing great improvement in the face of adversity and you know what they say about diamonds and pressure. On the defensive side of things we were able to score on of the BIGGEST steals of the draft in Thaddeus Bullard. From what i've seen in practice, believe this man will be able to terrorize opposing offensive personnel for seasons to come. He was passed on due to having conflicting attitudes with other teams. I don't get it I think the guys a fucking hoot! On top of that his big and he scares me and that's exactly what we want here in Vegas. |
