RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - jzajenius36 - 09-08-2020 As a new player, the league economy is something that I’ve yet to completely wrap my head around. As the season has progressed I’ve come to realize that if you take advantage of media posting then you can really pump in some cash for your player – and from there contracts really become almost completely unimportant. Just from what I’ve seen, I guess maybe one solution to keep people from constantly pumping out media posts just to cash in on money payouts would be to create some type of tiered payout structure where a player’s first article or two is worth maybe X amount, and then the payout gradually decreases for subsequent posts. The problem here is you would start to lose good, quality media posts from veterans who you really want to hear from. It’s a slippery slope. I do think that tiered payouts for media posts would work if you continued to have these various ‘media events’ where the payouts are worth more than a typical article would be. Also other specialized media events such as “all content written by a quarterback will be worth an extra $x this week,” or “players with a defensive touchdown this season, share your vision of the play and get paid an extra $x for your post.” All I know is I don’t envy the league office people trying to make these decisions! Good luck. (232 words) RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - gbfn - 09-08-2020 For me the whole idea of trading cards is useless. Why would i want to burn money just to get a few pixels? I am not a high earner in the league. I took a min contract to help out my team and giving them the opportunity to go chase free agents. All to help my team improve our chances on having a successful season. Although i have to admit, that you can argue if Honolulu is a good team (damn Crunk ratings). I get the idea of Dotts though. There are members sitting at 200 Mill and more in their bank and other users may get envious of them. But please remember: There is a reason for that. The users who accumulated that much mones didn't get that by sitting around doing nothing. They invested time and effort to keep the league going and should be compensated therefore. However, I suggest, that due to the fact that it IS a sim league and you create players, there should be a rule, that not the total bank account should be useable to invest in the new player. I would establish percentual fee like a "rich tax", that comes into place when the bank account is above a certain threshold at the point of recreation. This would limit the money in the leagues economy while still providing the luxury of having a bit of a cushion for recreates. But these are thoughts straight from the demented and really weird brain that is my player Tom Teboat. Oh and did I mention he thinks we’re playing baseball and not American football? Tom Teboat: You’re asking me about how to improve the trading cards? Well I am not an expert round these parks but let me tell ya that these little devils are hard to find. I mean, I know I buy all the cards at the local store with my salary but can ya at least make them easier to get? Like come on man lemme catch a break. I’m just out here trying to catch an autographed “Hall of Fame Victoria Secret” card and I can’t without spending like thousands of my hard earner American dollars. What’s the deal with these like no names showing up? Who the hell is Jimbo or Laszlo Forty-Two? And what are they wearing on their heads? Why do they want to cover up their face in the picture? Where are the bats? Why is nobody wearing like baseball caps and stuff? And what is with the weird brown, egg shaped thingy in their hand? I mean if they can’t be bothered to even wear their equipment for the card why even bother? Who knows, maybe that is how they play. If it is, lord help us all. What have they done to my beautiful game? RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - pauadrian - 09-08-2020 First of all I do want to post a disclaimer that these are not my actual thoughts. The difficulty I have is that despite there being cards and them seeming interesting, I have almost no reference to the past seasons in the league. So when I see legends to others, I just see names on cards. One way I think to improve this is to maybe have some sort of catalog to maybe look up and see what some of that players accomplishments inside the league were, and I mean that outside of just stats and awards it would be more interesting to me to see maybe how that player interacted within the simulation league to give me a better idea of who the legends in this league really were. Perhaps when the most recent cards come out I will be more interested but for the time being everything is too confusing for me to actually want to get into them at the moment. Another way to stimulate the economy could be to have veterans maybe run "Camps" for rookies in the offseason, the veteran could pay a certain amount to run the camps and the rookies could pay the veteran and everyone could get some TPE out of it. This could be good for DSFL teams maybe if none of that seems against the rules but I think it would be a super cool way to incorporate real world football stuff into earning tpe in the offseason and also pulling money out of the economy. Of course the inner workings of it might be a bit complicated. RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - ddrector - 09-08-2020 While I personally have not bought any Dotts cards yet, I have seen them and generally like the way they look. The one major change I would make is that I would add the players username to the card as well. This is a cool way to recognize users that might have multiple players with high level cards. Also, I've only seen the front of the cards, so I'm not sure if there is anything on the back, but if not I think the back should have career stats for the player if it's a normal card and if it's a special award card or something maybe some info on what the player did to get the award. As far as different sets go I think it would be cool to have a No Fly Zone set that is cards for the Top Ten players in PD in their career as well as Top Ten Interceptions for career players. You could do this kind of set for any kind of record to be honest. The #1 would have the highest level card and then the #2 and #3 the next level down and so on and so forth, but the cards would obviously have some kind of special banner or something. It would also be cooled to have sets like this that update as new players enter the Top Ten and the old cards that aren't in the Top Ten anymore are now retired. RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - deadlunatic - 09-08-2020 As a DSFL rookie, I like the addition of the Dotts cards. It gives me another thing to spend my money and makes me submit more articles than I would if it was only for weekly trainings, (which are mostly covered by my twittering) and Tier six equipment. I would prefer if there was some thing more to it than just collecting them, but honestly I dont know what could be done. Maybe once trading becomes available there will be some incentive to trying to get certain cards other than just because they look cool. Maybe a way to sell them for money to those rich collectors, or make it a trading card game so we can battle each other in our cosplay stuff, depending on which trading card game you prefer. I would dress up as a planes walker from magic the gathering and use my players as lightning bait before I found a way around the opponents moat so I could win the all important battle! I want to catch them all. I do like the addition, but I would love to see something more done to it to keep it exciting, of course once I can actually get my own card / cards, it will be more exciting. But until then, I'll keep buying me some packs. RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - bjkman - 09-08-2020 I've been with DOTTS since the very beginning with it just being a discussion and a section in the Tijuana Luchadores discord. From that little spark, Dotts became the insane mammoth of work it is today. I have created most of the base cards you see in Dotts today, I have spent many hours over the summer, and late nights in photoshop making sure the cards looked good and this would look like a professional product that people would enjoy. This is why it pains me seeing people not like what Dotts is so far, it has been months of work to get to where we are today, and just a week in we have people complaining. But at the same time, we have received praise and some awesome suggestions as well. I love seeing all the budding ideas for different types of card topics, and different ways for us to get our cards out to more people. My current idea for a card series is "Draft steals", I was one of the biggest steals of the season 22 draft, and this is my way to support players like me who to a little while to be appreciated and get into the ISFL groove. It is a fantastic way to show that just because you were not a boss to begin with, that does not mean you can't become someone people love to watch. Code: 234 WORDS |
