(S2) - PT #1 - Pre Season Hype - 37thchamber - 07-26-2017 I'm old school. I don't like all this trash talk, it's just not me. So I quietly make a note whenever a loudmouth wideout says something like "the Hawks are trash" or suggests they can have it all their way when they line up opposite me. I'm not the type to be out in the media running my mouth. Mainly because we, the Hawks, didn't have a good season last year. Kinda hard to talk down to anyone when you were bottom of the conference. But, last season was last season. There are over a dozen new guys in the locker room here in Baltimore, and I'm not the same player I was last year either. Any of those top tier receivers we come up against, Garden, Stormblessed, Westfield, North ... even Damian West if he gets snaps for the Wraiths, I know what he's capable of. Any of those guys, I look forward to facing them all. Mainly because I'm hoping to shut them up for a little while. I didn't ask to leave Baltimore this offseason even though a few friends encouraged me to, and there's a reason for that. I want to be here when this team turns it all around. Then you'll hear me talking, maybe. But it still won't be trash. (215 words) (S2) - PT #1 - Pre Season Hype - Noppadet - 07-26-2017 Steph Harrison is looking forward to meeting the Wraiths this pre-season. They're the only divisional rival, and two of the best linebackers in the season 2 draft, Wright and Cushing will be playing on opposing defenses. Wright, of the Hawks, has thrown a bit of friendly shade at Cushing in the wake of a media article prematurely wondering if Cushing was a bust. It can absolutely be argued that Wright, perhaps deservedly so, sent a small message to Cushing telling him to step up his game a bit. Wright so far has performed exceedingly well in the preseason, and he was drafted after Cushing. Getting back to the division, Steph Harrison is also looking forward to seeing the Wraiths because of the Hawk's dismal season 1 showing. The Hawks will be heavy underdogs in until they prove themselves worthy of respect again, and although it would only be a preseason game, contending with the Wraiths and ideally beating them, preseason or not, would say a lot with regards to how much the team has changed from season 1. Having the Hawks on the schedule at the end of season 1 was pretty much a guaranteed win, and Steph Harrison believes that has changed, but it's time to prove it. Code: 211 words (S2) - PT #1 - Pre Season Hype - Ben - 07-26-2017 The friendly rookie RB rivalry between Ardie Savea and Darlane Farlane has been discussed in the media before. The first match up between the two former team mates came in the pre season although the game was not all it was made out to be. The Las Vegas side showed up mostly hungover, still drunk, or high on any number of substances. The party life for the new team seems to be a bit much so hopefully they will have it out of their system by the time the regular season rolls around. The Vegas coach was so high he sent in a Jugs machine to play QB after the starting QB played for a few minutes before retiring to the sideline to eat chicken wings and count his money. The RBs themselves flashed a little of what they can do, Farlane cracked 100 yards gaining 109 off of 29 carries. Savea wasn’t getting the touches he expected but managed 5.1 yards per carry off of his 7 attempts. To really compare these two rookie running backs we will have to wait until the Baltimore Hawks play the Las Vegas Legion in the regular season. Hopefully the Vegas side will have sorted out the off-field issues by that time. (S2) - PT #1 - Pre Season Hype - Rabidsponge21 - 07-26-2017 Honestly when it comes to the start of Season 2, Iyah Blewitt has more than a few faces he looks forward to face. Out to prove he is the best ball punisher around he has his sights on a few of the leagues top kickers. Stephen Harris - (PHI) Turk Turkleton - (BAL) Archibald Booter - (YLK) All 3 of these kickers have been on Blewitts radar for a while and he it out to prove he can stand toe to toe with the best of the best. In order to be the best, you need to beat the best, and he has every intention of doing so this coming season. "These limp wristed, chicken legged goombas, have nothing on me, they would be lucky to make a 40 yard field goal in a windless day with silence in the entire stadium. They sweat just thinking of stepping on the field yet alone standing toe to toe with the greatness that is the Iyah (as he refers to himself in 3rd person). I will be, bar none, the best kicker this league has ever seen, and the Legion will find that out for themselves this season. S3 will be the year a kicker is taken 1st overall." Strong words from this young kicker, only time will tell if he will live up to the this self impossed 'hype'. You can tell that I'm upset, as I usually am. After a season of splitting the backfield, I'm hoping to show Arizona that they made a mistake by trading me away. I'm better than Mackworthy, and it's going to show again this season when I dominate the backfield for my new team. I'm looking forward to showing Arizona that they traded the wrong piece and make them pay. I'm hoping that it's not another one of those situations in San Jose. It looks like I've been splitting hand offs here too, so I'm generally just excited to see if coach makes the right move and gives me more reps. I'm not staying in a place where I have to share the ball. That's not me, and that's not what's going to make us win. (S2) - PT #1 - Pre Season Hype - Raven - 07-26-2017 For me playing the Philadelphia Liberty will be the most hyped game of this preseason. Mostly because they are the new squad in town and as an expansion team it's always hard to get settled in a league. Luckily for them the league is only one season old at this point, so even though they were late to the party, they will be able to catch up quickly I reckon. We are writing history for this team in their first ever season and it'll be fun to put our mark on it. Beat or lose it's a first for them and thats a great experience. Also their kicker is Stephen Harris, who used to be my teammate. Back in season one I was given the Kicker role and he was put into a punting role for the season. I`m excited for him that he now has a team that he can be the main kicker guy on. We`ll be able to start a rivalry now. Was Baltimore in the wrong to put me into the starting role? Would Harris have made a differnce? Will he be able to kick a better season than me? All very exciting questions that will be answered this season. (S2) - PT #1 - Pre Season Hype - Zoone16 - 07-26-2017 Code: 201 words I am most excited to face 2 teams. The first team I am excited to face is my old team, the Yellowknife Wraiths. I have nothing against them but since they drafted me and then traded me in that blockbuster deal to the Las Vegas Legion, I feel I owe it to the Legion and to myself to show them they were right in selecting me. On a personal note, it’ll be my first game against Josh Garden and Chris Orosz, with whom I battled for the QB spot and for receptions on the field. It’ll definitely be an emotional match when myself, Ramrio and Varga get to meet our former team. The second team I am excited to face off against is the other new team in the league, the Philadelphia Liberty. The Legion and the Liberty are building on different philosophies and the battle between long-term building from the draft and short-term all in from the get-go will be an interesting match-up for seasons to come. Whilst I believe that the Legion is the better team as of me writing this, I do think we should never count out any team in the league at any point in time. (S2) - PT #1 - Pre Season Hype - TheLastOlympian07 - 07-26-2017 Coming into the NSFL as a rookie is a scary thing indeed. However, it is a new beginning for myself and I look to take full advantage of it. Jameis Christ is the starter for the Liberty right now and I look to learn from him in practice as the number two quarterback for now. As of now I am almost at 100 practice hours which is a little behind Jameis who is at 164. If you take a closer look though at both of us you will notice that we play different styles. I am a pocket passer while Christ is a gunslinger. We both have different strengths and weaknesses so I assume that the team will look at us and see which style would play better against a certain team. The hype I am seeing here is a QB "Controversy". This is much like Brett Farve and Aaron Rodgers right now. It will be interesting to see how it plays out in the long run as I plan on being here week in and week out. Other than that, I think the city of Philly is pretty hyped up about NSFL football coming into it's first season in Philly. Hopefully the team can give them something to cheer about because we all know how hostile Philly crowds can be when they want to be. (S2) - PT #1 - Pre Season Hype - AsylumParty - 07-26-2017 Season two is promising to be an exciting ride with a plethora of promising rookies prowling the sidelines waiting for their chances at glory. Some luckier ones are even day one starters, myself included. I'm most anxious to really prove myself, though. With no interest in taking the easy route, I'm most hopeful to face off against Dermot Lavelle, the number one pick. Being highly touted following a very successful pre rookie season, Lavelle has proven to be a shutdown defensive back that I absolutely think I would thrive against. That's not to say Dermot isn't a standout corner, but that high pressure situations are where I'm at my best. With no regular season schedule, I'm unsure when that opportunity will come, or for that matter, if I'll be lined up across from Lavelle or Koetter that game, but the anticipation is persistent, nonetheless. If I plan on making Dustin Evans a household name, I've got to believe I can play with the big boys. I won't make it anywhere by fluffing my stats against weak defensive backs. I need to live up against the corners that think they'll put me on an island and leave that game with them understanding it's not going to be a good day when they've got to play the Outlaws. 217 |
