(S2) - Weekend PT #3 - Breakout stars - sabills - 07-30-2017 We all know how much offensive linemen are valued in this league, but a star? With Jordan Danvers, don't be surprised. The big pass blocker has already been putting in some major work, despite not even being available for the draft for another year. Since he's been picked up of waivers by the Philadelphia Liberty, Danvers had already positioned himself near the top of the offensive line depth chart for the expansion team, and plans on making more strides in that direction quickly. Danvers is big (310 lbs big) and strong (70 strength this early in his career), and is ready to take the NSFL by storm. He'll be asked to help protect starting QB Jameis Christ as the passer drops back for the attacking offense that the Liberty mean to employ this year, but don't sleep on him in run support as well. It may not be his specialty, but Danvers has shown in practice his ability to play any time, anywhere for his team. The regular season begins soon, and the whole league will be watching as Jordan Danvers preps himself for the Season 3 draft. A year of work with a team like Philly, plus his own internal drive, look like the right formula for the talented lineman to push himself ahead of the pack, and to put himself in a good position for an early draft pick. Some mock drafts have him solidly in the first round already. The skies the limit for Dancers, and right now, it looks like he just might hit it. (S2) - Weekend PT #3 - Breakout stars - 7hawk77 - 07-30-2017 As far as break out stars, the sabercats don't really have players that like to steal the show. The team is humble and plays as a team. Now as far as new players that will make a huge impact, we've already seen glimpses of this during pre-season. The sabercats defensive line is going to be a force to be reckoned with. You already know plenty about Dan Miller, but Enchilada and Chidubem Okonkwo are already shaping up to be great talent for that line. If you looked at the first time the sabercats played against liberty, you could see that the newer players definitely had the skill set to make the plays, but the jitters overtook them. Dan ended up with a bunch of sacks that game but a lot of that had to do with the pressure the new players were bringing. Shortly after that game, there was an additional pre-season game where they would face off again and the Liberty would have the home field advantage. This time the entire defensive line was picking up sacks and pass rushing very well. Dan's always been a really strong guy, but now with these two faster defensive line men, they will either create mismatches in speed or strength. Code: 208 words (S2) - Weekend PT #3 - Breakout stars - Ltsmashie - 07-30-2017 Two words - Big Bot. With the NSFL still coming to terms with an apparent android being picked in the season two draft, Yeti's DE Big Bot is set to be a breakout star for season two. Standing at a mammoth 6ft 6 in height and 310 lbs in weight, the power rusher without a past is making waves since joining the league. Having made consistent improvements in preseason with Yeti staff seemingly still working on the droids AI, Big Bot could be the first in a long line of droid type players in the NSFL. While rumours on the street persist that Big Bot is not actually a droid at all, but a delusional athletic freak with severe Aspergers syndrome, regardless of this case, neither management not fans of the Colorado Yeti will care one iota once their player get's to the oppositions QB come game day. When asked about the Yeti's newest defensive end, Luke "LT Smash" Tiernan had the following to say. "Big Bot has impressed me greatly, he doesn't have a lot to say, but the coaches only need to say something once to him and it's ingrained in his being, he's a very quick learner and I see him being a great asset to our defense this season" When asked if he believed Big Bot was indeed a robot Tiernan was not prepared to speculate. @loco (S2) - Weekend PT #3 - Breakout stars - 124715 - 07-30-2017 "Aaand it's North over the middle, and he's racing downfield, and it's CAUGHT! Oh, there's no one to stop him! TOUCHDOWN, PHILLY!" The announcers were practically screaming into their mikes as the Jameis Christ unleashed his rocket arm and sent the football screaming down the field into the uncoverable hands of Fox North. It wasn't the first time, and it won't be the last time either. Fox North is set for stardom. Entering the draft as the top WR in a slightly disappointing class, he was selected as the Co-GM for the Philadelphia Liberty. He's a powerful presence in the locker room, always exuding optimism. He has a clear plan for the team's future, and works tirelessly to enact it. On the field, he's a hardworking role model for the whole offense. You'll find him always in the first couple of pages of the activity check, and even going on vacation didn't prevent him from being active in our team Discord. It's shown on the field in practice, too - he's beaten CBs Tyler Oles and Kristoffer O'Sullivan numerous times in 11-on-11. He has crisp, polished routes, but he can fly. Christ, being the gunslinger that he is, takes advantage. North has solid hands, too, only notching a few drops in the Liberty's practice. It's hard to envision a future where he doesn't become a star. Brad Madlad plays one of the more sought after positions in the NSFL, and as such, there is a lot expected of him for the upcoming season. His hard work and dedication to the process of run-blocking will lead to a successful season. His strength, coupled with his actual run-blocking capability will allow him to open holes for even the slowest of running backs. His pass-blocking is nothing to shake a stick at, as it's only a little bit behind his run-blocking capabilities. Moral of the story: Bradley Theodore Madlad will be a solid contributor for the Philadelphia Liberty in their quest for the Ultimus Cup. Only time will tell if he succeeds in becoming a star in the NSFL, but the groundwork is certainly laid by the most competent of engineers. The Philadelphia Liberty, an expansion team in the start of the NSFL's second season requires their recently acquired rookies from the draft, as well as their veterans brought in by the NSFL expansion draft to make big strides to achieve competitiveness in the league. Bradley Theodore Madlad will be a definite boon to the team in their attempt at wresting the Ultimus Cup from the hands of the Arizona Outlaws. Code: 227 (S2) - Weekend PT #3 - Breakout stars - Muford - 07-30-2017 One player that I believe flew under the radar and will break out and make some noise has to be Alex Hansen of the Yellowknife Wraiths. He is one of the few hard hitting, big play making safeties in the league. He is one of the reasons the secondary in Yellowknife looks as good as it does. He flies under the radar, doesn’t draw attention to himself, he puts in his work every week, and man oh man can he lay the hits out. One of the strongest safeties in the league, wide receivers think twice when making a cross route through the middle of the field. Don’t forget about his speed either! He isn’t the fastest guy in the league, but he is not the slowest, and he has an eye for the ball. He didn’t have the interceptions that other safeties had, but man he was there on every play, racking up a total of 74 tackles in season one. This is one man that you do not want to sleep on this year, and I would go as far as to say he might as well be Safety of the year in season 2. This is one tough guy and he will only continue to improve. (209 words) (S2) - Weekend PT #3 - Breakout stars - adam2552 - 07-30-2017 Season two’s breakout player is going to be none other than the 8th overall pick, offensive tackle Micah Hendrix. The offensive lineman came out of nowhere this offseason to become a first round pick. His play at the University of Miami went largely unnoticed until late in the draft process. Hendrix was not even invited to the NSFL Combine. Despite this, the expansion Philadelphia Liberty felt what he showed in his limited sample size was worth trading up, back into the first round, to secure his talent. If the early returns are an example of what's to come, it is safe to say the Liberty’s gamble will pay off huge. Hendrix has been a cornerstone of the developing locker room. He’s also played great as the leader of the offensive line. One of his key roles this season will not be seen on the stat sheet though. Hendrix is going to be in charge of keeping the Philadelphia Liberty’s rag tag group of offensive lineman working together. The offensive line is made up of 3 rookies, 1 WR converted to OL, and a waiver claim. This will be no easy task, but one that Hendrix is already taking head on. The NSFL players selected an offensive lineman, Angus Winchester, as the season one MVP. With the precedent set, Hendrix certainly has the pedigree and work ethic to become the next offensive lineman to win MVP. @HalfEatenOnionBagel |
