RE: (S29) PT 2 - Double Trouble? - xtitanxmvpx - 06-02-2021 PT #2 Double Trouble (Option #1) (387 words) The league has definitely been interesting to start the season but I think things are actually pretty accurate as they stand. “Teams Overachieving”: Orange County Otters: The Otters are currently sitting at a 3-2 mark to open the season and I do not think their defense will continue to maintain the low points against that they are currently enjoying. Their offense is very emaciated and I believe this will eventually catch up with them. Colorado Yeti: Colorado has a very one dimensional attack on offense and it has struggled this year in comparison to years passed. Their defense is struggling heartily as they have given up the second most points in the league. These factors can’t keep getting them wins to sit above .500. “Teams Where They Should Be”: Philadelphia Liberty: Philly is still a young (but talented team) and as the season goes on they are going to be the team that other teams are really going to be nervous around. Their games already this year have been very close with a few of the top teams in the league and if their TPE continues to rise as it has been they could very well end up in the playoffs or upsetting some teams’ chances. Arizona Outlaws: The Outlaws have been playing outstanding football and that’s because they are an outstanding team. They have a hell of a roster put together and I think this could very well be their year (if they don’t choke). Their offense is running on all cylinders and their defense is playing like it was built to play. “Teams Underachieving”: Berlin Firesalamanders: This roster should be sending the firelizards through the roof at this point but they have really struggled to pull off any resounding wins to start the year. The addition of Deville and Hood should have them riding the top position not sitting at 3-2. Honolulu Hahalua: God, you know, I thought the Hahalua would have a so-so year, but I did not expect them to sit at the cellar of the entire league without a win 5 games in. Their defense has struggled to stop anybody and their offense has been lethargic to say the least. I’d look for them to turn this around at least a little bit, but who knows. RE: (S29) PT 2 - Double Trouble? - mee - 06-03-2021 SHL RE: (S29) PT 2 - Double Trouble? - y2bobman - 06-03-2021 L'Gazzy Burfict loves kids. Fact. And no, not like that, he is no L'Gazzy Savile. Thing is, what with his community work and coming from such a close knit town back in Mississippi, he has just always found himself around them. So when the letter found its way to him shortly after the Outlaws had gone 5 and 0 he was more than happy to send over his RSVP to the family. The party itself was the day of the game over in New Orleans which meant L'Gazzy had to catch a later flight out there (coach signed this off, but it clearly hampered his on field performance). Now L'Gazzy Burfict is far from an ideas man. I mean, he's had several concussions over the years which probably haven't helped, so his plan for the party made the parents a little sceptical. First off, he arrived with a box full of chicken wings (he had to get his fix) before then inviting the kids to sit down and ask about his career so far. After a little while he then decided to challenge them all to a few show of strength type activities. First off, to see how many of them could climb on him before his knees gave way. Second, how many of the kids it took to take him down in an Oklahoma esq drill. The parents were a little shocked, the kids loved it, and there were minimal injuries. To close out, L'Gazzy gave the birthday boy an Outlaws signed jersey and everyone got tickets to an upcoming game. RE: (S29) PT 2 - Double Trouble? - Goat_Whisperer - 06-03-2021 Blago Kokot is a man of the people. When a letter from a fan celebrating their birthday reached Kokot - he knew he had to go. To make the day that much more special, Kokot decided to organize a surprise for the fan. When Kokot arrived at the fan's house, he was dressed as a clown! To make things even more interesting, Kokot hired few actors to come with him, they were also dressed as clowns, so now the fan was looking at five clowns. Was it a surprise? Yes, it was. After the surprise factor faded away, the fan was smiling. The fan proudly stated that the only clown without huge shoes must be Kokot since Kokot has huge feet. That provoked a laugh among everybody present, but Kokot was not smiling. Kokot has always been self-conscious about his feet. As the other clowns kept doing little tricks for the fan, Kokot was fuming inside. Finally, he had enough. He picked one of the cakes and aggressively threw it at the fan. As the fan and the parents looked in awe, Kokot ran away. Other clowns stayed behind for a bit. Luckily, Kokot has never been known for his ability to throw things, so no real harm was done. Afterward, Kokot sent the fan a signed Wraiths shirt with a letter explaining the whole situation. RE: (S29) PT 2 - Double Trouble? - Drizzy - 06-03-2021 SHL CW (username is dankoa) RE: (S29) PT 2 - Double Trouble? - LB3737 - 06-03-2021 - We're now a quarter of the way through the season and the league is abuzz with with both surprises and disappointments through the first four games. Which team do you think is currently overachieving and which team do you think still has a chance to bounce back as the season progresses and why? Well I am writing this Point Task after Week 6 of games so its gonna be a bit weird, but it can certainly be said that up to this point in the season, certain teams are certainly outperforming their season goals, and vice versa for other teams. One team that up to this point is definitely, without a doubt underperforming is the 0-6 Honolulu Hahalua. The Hahalua will probably feel a bit hard done by sim luck and looking at their schedule might have surely expected 2 or 3 wins, but as of now are sat on a fat donut, the only winless team left in the league this season. On the flip side, a team that is outperforming their expectations and then some, coming from the same division as the Hahalua, are the San Jose Sabercats. Tipped to have a very down season, the Sabercats are currently sat on a record of 4-2, and have pulled of upsets against the likes of the New York Silverbacks and New Orleans Second Line. In the other divison another team who are definitely underperforming relative to where they could be at is the Chicago Butchers, who lie dead last in the NSFC with a measly 1 win. The Butchers also have disappointing results on their record, such as losses against divisional rivals the Liberty and Hawks RE: (S29) PT 2 - Double Trouble? - Alcott - 06-03-2021 The Austin Copperheads have had just brutal luck this season, but I think they still have the opportunity to turn it around and finish strong. Every game they've played this year has been decided by 8 points or less, and unless they are the literal equivalent of the San Diego Chargers (I refuse to recognize that many teams from Los Angeles, plus honestly it just rolls off the tongue better) from the last two seasons (2-11 record in one score games), the Copperheads have a good chance to revert closer to the mean and start winning some of those close games. While a 1-5 start is hard to overcome, they do still have one more shot at each of the five teams ahead of them in their division to try and even the gap between each of them. And if they can start getting ahead in games, their fourth overall ranked rushing offense and first overall ranked passing defense should help to secure victories by draining the clock when they have the ball and not giving up a bunch of yards to allow the opposing team to move into scoring range. The Copperheads are only being outscored by an average of 3.3 points per game, so if they can muster up either another touchdown or a field goal with one more defensive stop they should be in great position to start putting up more Ws in the win column. RE: (S29) PT 2 - Double Trouble? - TeyonSchavari - 06-03-2021 Almost midway through the season, Captain Rogers is becoming worn down on the field. Much to his surprise, he received a letter in the mail from a young fan from his home city of Brooklyn. It reads: "Dear Mr. Rogers, thank you for all that you do for my favorite football team. You are my favorite player and you are from where I am from. I like seeing you run into people on the other teams and I think your shield is very cool. I have all your comic books and your movies are my favorite. I wanted to be just like you, but I am too sick to walk. I have my room in the doctors decorated with posters of you and the team. I would be so happy to meet you, but I know you are busy with football and fighting bad guys. Good luck this year Captain! Love, Jackson" Taken aback by what he just read, Captain Rogers decides to make this kids wish come true. He fired up his motorcycle, put on his old uniform, and the star-spangled man headed to the hospital. Upon meeting Jackson, Captain Rogers was surprised at just how much memorabilia this kid had of his and he was even wearing a Rogers jersey. The kid's face lit up like the night sky on the 4th of July! They talked for a good hour about Rogers' time in Germany, the Avengers, and of course, the Silverbacks football team. After their meeting, Rogers arranged for Jackson to meet up with the team, with the help of the doctors. On this day, Captain Rogers made a great little friend. RE: (S29) PT 2 - Double Trouble? - Jay_Doctor - 06-03-2021 A quarter of the way through the season, that are certainly a few teams that have been overachieving to this point. The first team that I will say is overachieving is San Jose, but that should come as a surprise to no one. I feel like they seem to play above the level you expect them to on more down seasons but below the level on seasons when they look poised to make a good run. Maybe that's just me though. Either way, they are 4-2 with a negative point difference which means they are winning the close games. Next on the list would probably be my New Orleans Second Line. Sitting at 3-3 on the season and a positive point differential, things could most certainly be worse. Three close losses, by a combined 10 points, could feasibly see NOLA at an even better record. A tough string of games through the middle/late part of the season may prove to be too much to overcome. Though they are 2-4, I think that Baltimore could be in the overachieving category as well. They are significantly below the next closest team in TPE still, though that is to be expected for a team going through a monster rebuild. All I can say is it won't be long before Baltimore is going to put the league on notice. Just for fun, if Mason received a birthday party request he would certainly make an appearance in some fashion. If it was during the season, it would probably have to be a video call with a signed jersey delivered for their birthday. If was the offseason and no major conflicting events, he would show up in person. On a complete side note, Mason has always wanted to "crash" a wedding for a couple who are diehard Second Line fans. He would never actually crash it as in completely show up unannounced. He would reach out to the parents of the bride or maybe the best man to confirm that it wouldn't detract from the couple's big day.
