When young Calvin Hobbes was asked to restore harmony in the Portland Pythons locker room after a fight broke out during the last practice.

Calvin started by addressing the team as a whole to try to get everyone on the same page and working towards the same goal of winning as many games as possible. He started by mentioning how a well functioning team that has great chemistry and team spirit, will convert that into many wins and a streak of what seems like good luck. Whereas the Pythons in the current standing is struggling does not have that luck on our side. Much can probably be attributed to the poorer team atmosphere that can be seen by the fight.
And while fighting isn't good, it's not all bad either, all players want to win, earn their spot on the roster and play as much as possible, pushing emotions high and putting players on edge. By trying to change that annoyance at the teammates and the competition for spots into something positive to help the Pythons win more games!

The individual players will also get a talking to, where Calvin is trying to reach into that deeply rooted desire to win and perform at the highest level and try to build a better atmosphere and feeling in the team, starting with the offending players.

Additionally, Calvin will start by having another approach where he will organize a weekend away for the team with various team and trust building exercises. Among those will be climbing as a duo, paintball in various team sizes. The 2 offending players will also have to come up with 2 of their own activities for the team to engage in.

Saleem Spence hasn't truly obtained a leadership role within the Sailfish, due to being a rookie on a veteran laden team that has been together for a while. That said, being 6 foot 5 and 230 pounds does mean that if an argument got heated, there are worse people than Saleem Spence to have around to break it up.

A recent argument took place between Sarasota Quarterback Mike Boss Jr. and backup Offensive Lineman Bob Doe, a bot provided by league sponsor Wolverine Studios. Doe took except to Boss Jr. criticizing the playcalling of Coach ZBot Frostbite_0002, particularly after recent losses to the New York Silverback and Berlin Fire Salamanders, involving badly timed 3rd down spikes, followed by ineffective run calls on 4th an 5. Boss Jr. insisted the Wolverine Studios-provided a coach that was intentionally sabotaging the team, and Doe stuck up for his fellow cyborg. A fight ensued that was broken up by Saleem Spence and several others.

For some reason, management asked Saleem Spence to mediate the dispute. Spence proceeded to do so by reaming out Bob Doe for defending the STUPID IDIOTS at Wolverine Studios providing bots for the league, verbally eviscerated the bot for missing several blocks in practise, and then knocked Doe out with a left hook. The entire Sarasota team cheered and hauled Spence on their shoulders, parading him around the practise field like a conquering hero, while Bob Doe tried to remember which way was up so he could get there. Overall, a quality display of leadership, that elevated Spence in the eyes of everyone on the Sailfish.

PT 29-5- Fights

So here I am one day just practicing dominating per usual doing line drills, when I look over and see wide receiver ivan Toastovich and CB Charity Beaver going at it..Ivan has been having a hell of a season whereas Beaver is our top cornerback this season. I think I've on was trying to go deep and there was just a little bit too much contact for his liking and they started shoving each other it turned into a real thing. this little brawl then turned into an offense and defense of fight which us on the offensive defensive line were pretty used to but we usually keep it in house but these young bucks out on the outside and speedster seem to take things a little too personally. Afterwards the coach told us to hit the showers . Even though I'm a rookie on the team I think I have established myself as somewhat of a team leader so myself along with offensive lineman Dick thickum and the quarterback Stanzi told Ivan and Beaver to get in the film room for a little chat. It was pretty simple process but they were both still pretty heated but these are just two competitors that are having a good season on a team that's looking to win a championship. having two big lineman and the quarterback sit him down hash it out and go over the fact that they're both competitors and look into just make each other better it was a pretty simple process to get them to calm down and look at the big picture. By the end of it I wouldn't say they were best friends but they were definitely two respected competitors that are trying to both win a championship with the same team and both put on the same jersey I heard at the end they might have went out to dinner together at Chipotle and had a couple of burritos over their fight so hope that's the end of it.

Of course the coach will come to me to help restore order, who else would everyone in the locker room listen to than the great and majestic Jackie Daytona?! I will first of all call a parlay between he warring sides, bring them together under a flag of truce. I would want to the 2 parties to meet and talk through the issues, this maybe an issue as we have some strong willed characters in our dressing room so it would not be too easy to get them to this peace meeting. Once I have the two parties together in one place I have a 2 part solution. The 1st part would be to take them out and party, get them drunk and even involve other substances (this is fiction I do not condone drug use). Once they are passed out from partying together I enact a phase 2. I put both of them in an incredibly realistic doomsday scenario, they wake in a room filling with water for example, forcing them to work together to escape, what better way to bring people together! Now in the past there has been accidents and a lot of trauma caused but I swear this time it will work, trust me!

Written option: A fight broke out between your teammates during training, causing great concern within the locker room and organisation as a whole. Your coaches have asked you to help restore the harmony in the locker room. How would you approach this situation? Would you address the individuals directly or the team as a whole? Would there be a specific teammate you would get on board to help you?

As the unofficial captain of the team (I just let other people get their captain dotts card, I am a nice guy like that) it is obvious the coach would come to me regarding this fight. Now fights are a very delicate thing in the locker room as they can mess up the teams dynamics which can result in worse play from the players, which you of course do not want. So some people might think that this is just a case of getting the parties that are involved together and finding a solution. However I believe that this is a whole team thing that we need to get into. So I have got the whole team together and we are going to sit down in the common area. I take them all and shake em around. The fuck is wrong with yall why we fighting like this. We are a team, a family. Like stitch from lilo and stitch would say is. 'Ohana means family and family means no one gets left behind or forgotten'. We are all in this together, we need to elevate each other to higher standards to get this team going places. How are we going to win games if we all resent each other. That ain't us. We are a family. Now hug it out and drop the bull. Everyone hugs and kisses and we are all good again.

Tensions are high in the locker room pretty much always in Chicago - we're either stressed about our poor performances like this season, or we're stressed about the expectations to do well in the playoffs and win almost every game. However, we rarely have any fighting problems, as unlike many teams around the league we have a bunch of active offensive linemen who act as enforcers of the law, partially by decree of the coaching and management staff, but mainly just because we freaking want to man. We've got me in this group of course, but also league-wide star Mo Magic with his crazy pancake totals, Rigby Raccoon with his rabid tenacity, Givussafare Rubbe with his impressive experience at a position that's always been tough on the old knees, and James Gath who just kind of sits around with a blank look on his face but is still hella intimidating. Puny wide receivers get pissed at George because he didn't look their way often enough last game? We'll put those punks in their places. Same with puny cornerbacks acting like divas, puny linebackers bragging about their tackle totals, or puny defensive linemen wanting the same credit that our sick-nasty offensive linemen get. Everyone just needs to get the heck over themselves and focus on being the best team we can be.
