RE: (S30) PT 1 - Going International - captjanko - 07-21-2021 The Minnesota Ducks already have a wide international appeal. A migratory organization, they spend different seasons in new regions spreading the glory of what it means to be a fan of DSFL Champions. This off-season, a very unique land is in need of enlightenment and as such Antarctica has been selected as the Minnesota Ducks' off-season workshop. For those who have never looked at a globe, Antartica is that white mass at the bottom of the map. Frigid temperatures, excessive penguins, and high winds, Antartica is a frozen desert (not dessert) in need of some heat. And who better to provide that heat than rookie Morpheus Czargyros, the one who sizzles? Morpheus will take local scientists and adventurers residing in Antartica outdoors and demonstrate how to conduct sled run exercises, proper technique in tackling snowmen, and teach the cooking of spicy fajita recipes known only to Rancho Cucamonga natives. Locals will go wild over the wonderful combination of imported peppers and penguin steak. When Morpheus leaves, residents will be decked out in Ducks' tank tops and jorts. And after a delicious penguin steak fajita and a few hours of Morpheus' workout sessions, those clothes will be all the residents need when they're outside. After all, when you're living like Morpheus, it doesn't matter where you're living, you'll be sizzling. We spoke with recently drafted deffo not Leroy Leroy about the training. “Yeah we’ve been traveling and getting ready for this season by doing all kinds of new workouts and things on and off the field.” What kinds of workouts have you been doing with the team? “Mostly going over our plays and training with some of the best athletes in the world to try to be in game shape when season comes.” What about the reports of training with Leroy Leroy are those real? “Yeah the reports are real we’ve been training with him to get in shape because he’s a professional basketball player.” Up In Montreal we have seen the team running all kinds of plays and drills unfortunately no tape will be shown because we want to respect the privacy of the team. The team is looking decent going into the year and we would love to see them improve. They are training for hours each day to work on becoming the best team in the league one day. Honolulu building a legacy hype. Leroy speaks again “let’s be the best and shock the entire league this szn wooo, go Honolulu, let’s gooooooo” Words 213 RE: (S30) PT 1 - Going International - Mooty99 - 07-22-2021 SHL PT RE: (S30) PT 1 - Going International - Zoone16 - 07-22-2021 SHL Affiliate RE: (S30) PT 1 - Going International - y2bobman - 07-22-2021 The fairest way to pick someone to travel over to England to give the workshop was to force the last one in for training to go. And that happened to be your favourite LB L'Gazzy Burfict. That's the last time he stops off on the way for an all you can eat breakfast buffet, I know that. The workshop itself was, thankfully, pretty structured. Coaches Crunk and RB2 had worked hard to pull something fun and engaging together, in a way that not even L'Gazzy could go too wrong with it too. He played tape of some big plays, and some controversial decisions, and aksed the attendees what they would have done. He also gathered up their ideas for the next ISFL draft class, who they thought would be the next big thing. The only fear from them was the Q and A session to close out the workshop. And sure, Burfict didn't hold back in identifying players he'd love to brawl with, the agents who tamper and the best cafeterias in the ISFL. But the most interesting part for most was with his own closing remarks. Burfict spoke passionately about never giving up, pushing to be the best and his quest for Ultimus glory with Arizona. In some ways, he said, the pressure had been off due to where he was taken in each draft. But the drive is by the individual and that is what's got him to position he is today, as one of the best in the game. The workshop organisers have asked Burfict to come back again... But hes waiting until Ultimus is secured before making a commitment because the boat ride over (he is afraid of flying after all) was a little sluggish and took him away from valuable chicken wing eating time. RE: (S30) PT 1 - Going International - TheSparkyDee - 07-22-2021 The Chicago Butchers have been asked to go to Germany for some workshops each season now since I joined the team. Here is what baffles me. There is an ISFL team in Germany? Why are we getting asked to join this camp? They must not trust their own team to run a camp. I mean they want a team who won’t choke in the Ultimus Championship. Their fans have been watching the Berlin Fire Charizards for a few seasons have a fantastic team, but not win? Strange. But we have gone to this camp each season to show their fans what a good team looks like. We always used to bring the cool positions to this camp, like quarterback, running backs and wide receivers. The kids who are here at the camp in recent seasons were just kids who wanted to play those “cool positions”, but this one camp we just had in Munich were BIG kids. The kids who showed up wanted to be okay linemen on the offense side and defense side. We had to have some of our defense line players come out to this camp and we brought a offensive linemen. Camps here in Germany have been so much fun. I can not wait to go back next season for our 4th annual Germany camp. After his recent visit to Liechtenstein, @.simo was heard singing this refrain over and over to the tune of "Oh Christmas Tree" or "O Tannenbaum" depending on who you ask (it's the same tune). Why was this retired Fire Salamander singing such a strange song? Because Achtfunf decided he needed one last hurrah before hanging up his cleats. After falling short in the Ultimus in what would be his last professional football game, Achtfunf took his love of football, German, and apparently Christmas caroling to the tiny country of Liechtenstein for a one time only football training camp. People from all over the country came to see this event, as Achtfunf ran hand drills, agility training, strength challenges, and even a full on scrimmage with a group of youth and college students with ISFL aspirations. At the end of the event, Achtfunf called the group together and gave them a rally speech. He closed out the event with these words, "Football is a gift that isn't forever. Enjoy the hell out of your youth and play this game as often as possible. And then, when the time comes, pass that gift on to the people coming after you." We'll see what young stars may be traced to this camp in the future, but if nothing else, when asked how he was feeling at the end of the camp, Achtfunf said, "Closure. I feel like I have closure now on a terrific career. I hope even one of these kids gets to experience the journey I've been on over the last years, cause it's a hell of a ride." RE: (S30) PT 1 - Going International - unconfident - 07-22-2021 Seeing as Austin is a very diverse team, with a surprising amount of non-Americans, or at least more than I'd expect in an American football internet community, so there are plenty of options to send to foreign camps to help the children of these countries learn the beautiful game of football from some of their countrymen. One such camp was one in the United Kingdom, where quarterback Jackie Daytona, safety Annie May and linebacker Daniel O'Leary each hosted part of the camp. They each taught different skills at the camp, being that Daytona is the quarterback and could teach a lot of the offensive side of the game, and the basics of the offense in football, while May helped with the defensive mental side of the game, and O'Leary could teach the more physical side of the game as a linebacker, all of which is equally as important to offense. The people at the England camp really connected with May and Daytona, and were very inspired to learn the game from someone who the culture and had similar accents to them, really made it easier to learn the game they were there to learn. Unfortunately the Aussies of the team didn't get a chance to make the trip this year, but surely next year they'll be able to host the camp for the land down under. Code: 226 words |
