RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - LewisMelville - 07-29-2021 Now here is a question I find I am asking myself pretty regularly. "What would one of the best cornerbacks to grace the international simulation football league be doing if he was not playing football in the international simulation football league?" This has been a question I have thought long and hard about and when I go my to my childhood, I think of my roots and the rough upbringing many families had in my local area in the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh. Now I am not sure many of the other players around the league are aware how rough an upbringing I had and how tough it could be. What I would be doing with myself now is quite simple, I would be formulating new products and punting them to the locals and selling them to other members of the public to stock their local areas with some fresh "crayons". As most of you are aware I am the international simulation football leagues advocate for Crayola's edible crayons. I had already begun working on mastering the product long before I ventured stateside (and back to Europe). It wasn't until I got the opportunity of moving to bowling green university for the semester did it dawn on me that becoming a professional international simulation football league player could be the gateway to fast tracking my product. So to answer the question I would be punting my "crayons" illegally with the intention of starting off in my city before moving nationwide, continental before eventually going global and bringing in the big bucks. RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - xTri - 07-29-2021 Taro Raimon is a sports lover. All his life he would play any type of sports possible. He would do swimming, basketball, football, soccer and baseball all in the same summer when he was in elementary school. But he then consolidated his efforts slowly into baseball. He was always dedicated to watching and playing baseball but ultimately, he was not good enough with the bat to be a starter for the team. His only saving grace was his fielding on the diamond which was considered the best of his entire team. But as luck played out, some other students discovered how well he can catch the ball and offered the suggestion to try football as his skills would easily pan out as a wide receiver. So as the years gone by and tens of thousands of hours sinked into practice, he has ended up as currently one of the best wide receivers in the ISFL and is paid extremely well to do so. So what if he never was suggested to play football? Maybe he wouldn't have continued his sports dream and pick up a regular 9 to 5 job in an office. Or maybe he suddenly knew how to play with the bat and become a phenomenal baseball star in the Japanese leagues. RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - TheDangaZone - 07-29-2021 I think my choice to play football was almost always obvious with my size, speed, and hands but there were definitely other options I could have went with. Just none of those options were ever truly something I was considering. My cousin, big guy over in SHL and in RoH maybe you have heard of him, Keith Lee; He tried to push me into the wrestling scene like he is in and while I have dabbled here and there with it for fun it is not something I would ever truly consider for a career. Hockey he kind of pushed and while it is fun as all hell to watch it is just not for me. Baseball was something a lot of kids duel sported in during highschool with football but something I never really got into. It never really let me show off my true skills the way that I really wanted to. So when the choice in high school was up for which sport it was always going to be football. I guess the most plausible alternate reality would be wrestling as it interests me the most out of the other sports. I could definitely see myself dominating in RoH just as my cousin does, beating up that punk coward named Doom who no one likes at all. I think I could easily do that just like everyone else does. In the end though I'm glad I ended up where I did. 244 words RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - Dagumpa - 07-29-2021 It was around the end of S29. I was kinda burnt out on football from playing in college and finishing off the regular season with the Portland Pythons. I was good. I kinda liked the concept of finishing my career there and focusing on becoming a rapper or a lawyer or a zookeeper. But then my mom told me that I made it this far and should keep pursuing it. I told her that she wasn't the boss of me. She gave a rebuttal that lasted 14 hours as proof that she, in fact, was. So I decided to give it a shot full-time. I would've liked to have tried figure skating. I'm pretty nimble and there's a lot of ice in Minnesota. Plus seeing some of those dances those guys do with the babes, damn...they give away that stuff on TV for free. I would definitely have more time to make experimental smoothies. This one guy was telling me about how he mixed peaches, strawberries, acai, and soy milk. Isn't that insane? That definitely beats my milk and ice smoothie by a country mile. But I don't know, this is what I chose to do. Or, rather, what my mom chose to do. Will I suck? Yeah, maybe. But it's good work experience. RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - Jimi64 - 07-29-2021 The path to football always seemed like a clear one in Jimi DeSoto’s heart, but realistically it wasn’t always a sure thing that Jimi would make it to the big leagues. In college, though he started at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as a highly touted high school prospect, to say he disappointed would be an understatement. He played so poorly that he rode the bench early in his freshman year till partway through his junior year. Only due to injuries to the current linebacker corps did he see the field. The rest is history. However, if those injuries to the starters would have never occurred, he would’ve followed in interests in archeology and completed his degree. This would’ve led him to pursuing the lost city of Atlantis. The ruins of this underwater city would be named the 8th wonder of the world. Jimi would’ve been lauded as the greatest explorer of modern times. He would’ve started a business to conduct submarine tours of the city without disturbing it’s structures. This tickets for these tours would be extraordinarily expensive to start with in order to establish a fund to continue the preservation and research of these structures. After building his fortune and ensuring the safety of the ruins, keeping other businesses in the world from exploiting their historic beauty, Jimi would open up the submarine tours for lower prices to the general public to be enjoyed by all. This contribution to society would make Jimi one of the most impactful people of the 21st century. Of course, this pales in comparison to the glory of playing in the ISFL, so clearly the current reality is the most preferred. RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - Reno - 07-29-2021 Why football in the first place though if it wasn’t her initial calling? Some loser named Jason Garciaparra convinced her to do it back in high school, and while it was never her first love Tessie still found it super enjoyable. Being a safety in high school connected with her main love of surfing. Waiting in the back of the field, watching the pieces move and determining the most effective way to make her mark, the exact same as sitting on your board analyzing the wave to determine where you want to begin your initial run. Then the adapting on the fly; the player goes the place you weren’t expecting, the route gets broken up entirely too early, the wind picks up changing the height of the swell, the current gets faster throwing your balance off, the similarities don’t stop. As to what Tessie would be doing if she wasn’t in football? It would be surfing, without a doubt surfing (sim league surfing when?). Whether it’s Hawaii, Australia, some random dude’s backyard in Texas, if there’s surfing involved Tessie would be there. It does create a bit of an issue when practice is going on and she’s busy surfing but in the end there’s no place she’d rather be. RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - MMFLEX - 07-29-2021 Miles Weperom was fortunate enough to have opportunities in athletics and academics. Coming out of the Silicon Valley area and both of his parents working in the technology industry, it's likely that Miles would have found a place in that industry if not for football. Cal Poly was a school in which he was very interested in their programs and research fields. There was a brief time where his inner circle believed he would forgo an opportunity in football and begin studying robotics, which is what he fell in love with at Cal Poly. He was so in love with robotics after his visit to Cal Poly that he convinced his high school to explore the possibility of adding a robotics program to their school, or to partner with a university. Miles had this idea to develop a convenience service, much like Shipt, that could deliver anything by use of drones. Once Miles ultimately decided to play football and enrolled it UCLA he went the cliche athlete route by selecting communications as his major. If anything were to disrupt his football career early we could see Miles continuing on using his communications degree, or there is a strong possibility he could return to school and follow his passion outside of football in the technology industry. (Words: 215) RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - hexify - 07-29-2021 When HAKK saw Derrick Henry destroying Linebackers and Corners alike on youtube, it gave him the motivation to become the Linebacker who could take him down. Ever since that day, football was HAKKs everything. Before that, however, HAKK was taking a lot of business classes in High School and College alike. He majored in Business at Kentucky, and would most likely be a normal, office working joe if he hadn't fallen in love with football. When HAKK got done with his college ball career, he had a choice. He could enter the ISFL on a waiver claim and hope to be picked up, or he could simply pursue a life of mediocrity and business. When he weighed the possible chance of failure versus the relatively safe chances he had in the job market, he made a choice. He took his chances and joined the ISFL. If he had not, who knows where HAKK would be today. Sure, he could be making decent money doing business or whatever other nerd stuff that earns you money, but where is the fun in that? HAKK earns a lot more while also playing the game he loves. Although most of the money goes towards training and not much goes towards luxury, it's the best life HAKK could have asked for. (216) RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - dude_man - 07-29-2021 I highlighted this exact hypothetical in my wiki awhile back, but basically, I’d be a nobody at this point. After my mom had passed away, I was worried that I would not be able to care for my father. There were times where I thought, “this is it, everything you worked for, has led to nothing. And you’re going to be working at a grocery store your whole life.” While not totally dogging on those who have minimum wage paying jobs, for me to work so hard and not get to where I wanted to be when everything started falling apart would be utterly brutal and humiliating. So if I had to guess, I’d be probably a manager at the local Boring grocery store in Oregon. Probably would be raising a family on my local farm, making sure our finances are covered as well as my father’s finances and health bills. After thinking about this hypothetical, I can’t thank the ISFL enough for putting me in a situation to succeed but also to help my family now and for the rest of my career. I will always praise the organization for looking out for the best interests of the league and it’s players. This is why I do what I do now, to play and enjoy the sport I love while being financially cared for. There’s nothing else better than this. RE: (S30) PT 2 - Alternate History - slate - 07-29-2021 The importance of a backup plan to professional football had never been lost on Peter "Petey" Patterson. After his father Zane spent his college days as a star player for the University of Minnesota, an ACL tear led to him falling out of the draft and never being able to put together a career in football as he once imagined he might. While Petey's pro prospects also seemed promising, his father's experience and the lessons he learned from it growing up meant that he was always dedicated to applying himself in academics as well and taking full advantage of the opportunities given to him by the sport he loved. With this in mind, Petey took full advantage of his redshirt year at the University of Iowa to take a variety of courses and decide upon a course of study that could be useful if his football dreams didn't pan out. After discovering an enjoyment of physics and engineering, which he credits to using the same spatial thinking as he relies upon in coverage on the football field, he decided to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering. While his completed degree was never put to use as he instead declared for the DSFL draft, in the event of any unfortunate incidents Petey should have been able to have a solid career as a mechanical engineer. |
