RE: (S30) PT 4 - Tough Loss - Jerms - 08-12-2021 Since Doc Holliday is new to the Tijuana Luchadores, he hasn't had as much time to grow his disdain for other teams as some of this other teammates. However, there are two DSFL teams that come to mind when thinking about who we want/need to beat the most: the Dallas Birddogs and Bondi Beach Buccaneers. I've been informed that Bondi Beach is probably the Luchadores biggest rival, but this season Dallas is the team we need to beat the most. We currently are tied with the Birddogs for 1st in the division, but we won't allow that to be the case for much longer. Since we have experienced a loss to them (albeit not as close as this post hypothesizes) we have experience dealing with that situation. It's definitely a sour feeling. A mix of disappointment in ourselves and unbridled rage that we were bested by an inferior team. In the locker room we're all "ok we will get them next time boys" but by the next meeting with them it's all, "put these damn birddogs down, these are our hunting grounds". So, we are graceful in defeat but before each game we are out for blood. I personally think it's a great balance. Doc hates losing simply because he isn't used to it. His life is a winning culture, so loss is somewhat of a foreign concept. That's the reality for rookies, however, as most have been big fish in a small pond their whole lives. The one thing Doc makes sure to do after any loss is learn from it and take that knowledge into the next game. We lost to them in the Ultimus, we lost to them in the regular season by a single point, we just can't get over that final hump against them and it has been immensely frustrating. If we were to lose to them again, the team would be pissed off for sure, and Raske would be one of the angriest members on the team. As a rookie and a captain of the defense, he has to be the one to lead the unit to victory. If he has anything less than a great game, especially against the Silverbacks, he'll be especially hard on himself. Of course, someone has to step up and bring the locker room back from the brink. Tensions are high, and someone needs to unite all the players once again. One man that I know would step up to that kind of challenge is veteran quarterback Nick Kaepercolin. Through eight seasons in the ISFL, Nick has been through some major downswings during the history of the Salamanders. While the team might be going through some tough times now, he's seen the very worst an expansion franchise has to offer. Berlin is the strongest it's ever been in it's short history, and we have to pull everything together to make that final push for the Ultimus. (231 Words) RE: (S30) PT 4 - Tough Loss - ddrector - 08-12-2021 The Second Line has had multiple gut wrenching losses. None worse than our recent overtime loss at home to the Honolulu Hahalua. Any loss at home is tough, but it is exponentially worse when you are in position to win the game and the sim makes the stupidest decision it possibly could. With just over two minutes to go in a tie game the Second Line got the ball on the Honolulu 48 yard line. The offense methodically drow down the field and with 1:26 to go Ben Slothlisberger spiked the ball on 1st and goal from the 8 yard line. This is where things go down hill. On 2nd and goal from the 8 yard line the sim decided it was a good idea to pass the ball, so Slothlisberger dropped back to pass and got sacked for an 11 yard loss to push the team back to the 19 yard line on 3rd and goal where Slothlisberger inexplicably spikes the ball again to stop the clock with 53 seconds to go. There's a number of reasons this doesn't make sense. Why stop the clock with 53 seconds to go making it 4th and goal? What would almost surely happen in this case would be the offense lining up and waiting until the clock hits under 40 seconds and kneeling the ball wherever the kicker would want it between the hash marks. Then the field goal unit would come out and kick a field goal as time expired to hopefully end the game with a win. At worst you miss the field goal and the game is in overtime. But what happened next is truly the stupidest decision I've seen the sim make. On 4th and goal from the 19 yard line the sim decided that NOLA should go for it and pass the ball. Are you fucking kidding me? We ended up losing in overtime after missing a 53 yard field goal as time expired in regulation. Fuck this sim. RE: (S30) PT 4 - Tough Loss - Reno - 08-12-2021 Another heart breaking loss in overtime. Are we sure that I’m still not on the Chicago Butchers at this point? It always sucks, especially losing to those noobs over in Myrtle Beach (yes they changed their name, but I refuse to learn it). They’re always so arrogant and super annoying in general about wins. They keep sending messages like “hey great game” or “you guys played well”. Just overall toxic behavior that has no place in this league anymore and I’m sick of it. Tell me you slept with my mother or something, stop being nice. After the loss the locker room is always a bit tense, mostly because someone accidentally opened Starboy’s anime folder on the computer instead of the game film folder and we saw things that no human should ever have to see. But usually once we overcome the Indiana Jones melting faces after seeing it, we push the skeletons of former players into the overflowing lockers and analyze the game film. See where everything went wrong, find that play that killed the momentum, finding evidence the sim is rigged exclusively against us and no one else, stuff like that. The main player stepping up after a loss to keep the room going is Jaycee. The voice of the locker room, Jaycee keeps everyone in good spirits when the going gets tough. Tessie is a bit more measure with her responses, saying few words but making good use of them. As the captains, her and Jaycee fulfill the same role, just albeit through different methods. RE: (S30) PT 4 - Tough Loss - MMFLEX - 08-12-2021 After a gut wrenching overtime loss to Baltimore in which Honolulu blew a 17 point 4th quarter lead the team returned to the locker room in silence with their heads down. Baltimore may not be a rival you'd think of for Honolulu, but both teams are working toward getting out of their rut and into contention, and Miles Weperom has publicly berated Baltimore on their franchise, it's a rivalry that has some merit. It was a good twenty minutes of silence with players only. Nobody took off their pads. Nobody showed any emotion. Dead silence until the coaches entered, stopped, looked at the team and said "Yeah. That's how you all should feel." And then they proceeded to enter the coaches office. It was about five more minutes of silence before Cobra Kai stood up and walked front and center and gave a short and sweet speech. "I just sat here and wallowed in my disgust. But for what? We can't change the past. I know for a fact we're still a better team, but we lost concentration. We phoned it in that last quarter. The only question now that matters is 'what do we do now?' I know this will make me work harder. Physically, mentally, emotionally. I'm working harder. I hope you all will too." Miles continued sitting in silence with his head down through all of Cobra's speech. It didn't look like it effected him at all, but it's now what you see on the outside; it's what you can't see on the inside. And on the inside there was a fire burning out of control within Miles. He was never going to let this happen again. A game featuring five turnovers and five sacks allowed by the London Royals squad left even the team captain, Dustin Parmalee, feeling low, as he took the brunt of the beating personally. Sam Squanch, the team's defensive captain, was left feeling equally defeated; despite leading the team in tackles for the day, his efforts felt wasted as the Dallas Birddogs cruised to an early lead and a comfortable sixteen point margin of victory. However, two players were there to shake the team from their misery: cornerbacks Savior Hawkins and Cedric Wilkins II. The two combined had fought ruthlessly all game, creating three turnovers as a duo for one of their best tandem performances of the season, and they were not willing to let the team sleep on their accomplishments. Despite a rough game and a rougher season, the pair pointed towards the team's impressive individual accomplishments, and to the fight the team has to stick with it despite their struggles. This was not a team of losers; rather, it was a team of fighters.
