(S6) - PT1 - Draft Day Fever - sapp2013 - 02-18-2018 You know what, getting ready on draft day was the most nerve-racking thing I did and for some reason I didn't feel nervous at all. I knew I was going first overall. There was no way I wasn't. Colorado needed a big time playmaker and that is what I brought to the table. I was by far the best player in the draft despite what some statisticians or television personalities might say. Getting ready, I got my combo stuck in my hair. Never happened before. My girl used her ninja hair dresser skills to get it out with no damage to my flow. Putting on my pants, popped the button off. If anything, I lost weight since I wore these last. My momma taught me right and I sewed that back on in a jiffy. It took me 8 ATTEMPTS to correctly tie my tie. What the hell? I've tied my own tie perfectly the past year and a half, and this is the day I forget how to correctly get the right length? And yet, everything was going smoothly. I was right on time, and calm as ever. I got to my table, and waited for my name to be called. "And with the first pick in the Season 5 NSFL draft, the Colorado Yeti select... CARLITO CRUSH! Tight End from THE Ohio State University and Portland Pythons." The league is about to find out why you do not disrespect the name, Andre. Bly. Jr. (S6) - PT1 - Draft Day Fever - ralams123 - 02-18-2018 I remember my draft day like it was yesterday, I was brand new to the league and the DSFL wasn’t established yet, I was a true raw prospect. No one knew me so i was already at a disadvantage in a strong draft class that is the Season 3 draft class I made sure to let every team know I am active and will pit in work for their team. When draft day rolled around I knew I was going to get drafted late a lot of mock drafts put me in the late 4th high 5th round, a couple teams showed interest in me but I wasn’t going to get drafted high but yet I was still nervous. I waited and waited by the time the 3rd round finished I was sleep but finally in the 5th round the Otters called my phone telling me that I will join part of their defensive back core I was in shock I was half awake and was convinced I was dreaming I made the league and I was prepared to take it by storm I knew what I was getting into. Being a player who was drafted 3 times in 2 years getting drafted by the Otters changed my life. (209 Words) (S6) - PT1 - Draft Day Fever - Oles - 02-18-2018 Written: Must include 200 words. As the drafts pass everyone remembers the day their name was called. Whether it was going unexpectedly early, or an event happening during that day that almost sent the day into other chaos, the draft is certainly a memorable time. Write about the day your name was called, whether it was the draft itself or something that happened before or after the draft had happened. I remember the buildup to the draft like it was yesterday. When I declared for the league in S2 I had no clue what to expect when draft day came, and while I did my best to make myself a more lucrative player by saying the right things, being active in the media, and just making my name known, never would I have expected to be graded as even a 3rd round talent. When the Liberty came to me and told me they were taking me with the 12th overall pick in the draft, which was middle of the second round, I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t know that any gm valued me that highly, and here I was going to the expansion team that is the Philadelphia Liberty. I remember looking at guys like Darnell Turner and Dermot Lavelle, two CBs who were ahead of me in the draft, and then thinking that there was no way I was the 3rd best CB, and the one to fall after those two names were called. What was a day where I would have been happy going in the 5th round, turned out to be a day where I was shocked, surprised, and ecstatic that a team saw me as a 2nd round pick. The day where so many amateur athletes have worked their young careers for. A moment where talent scouts and analysts have spent every waking moment leading up to the event preparing to make their presentations. General managers careers are defined by their success in selecting the right talents and personalities for their organizations. Draft day has so much impact on the viability and structure of the franchise, they mock the possible selections months in advance, only to re-mock and scrutinize each potential selection. When the team gets their guy, it may take one season or many seasons for it to pan out, but the benefits of a successful draft have lasting significance. What sticks out to me in my day in the sun, is the fact I was surrounded by the friends and family whom I love and love me. Sharing these moments with the most impactful people of my life is a blessing. The organizations who drafted me, first into the DSFL, the Tijuana Luchadores, then second, to the NSFL’s Orange County Otters will forever be the greatest and most influential employers of my young career. There will never be another day like Draft Day. Word count: 233 |
