(05-12-2018, 12:02 AM)Alfredo_Pasta Wrote:I'm here to talk about one thing I like in our league. That thing is and probably always will be the community. For the most part everyone is cool. Of course there's a few little kids here and there that try to ruin it, maybe even unintentionally, but nevertheless they try. I like that we are all on discord and we can communicate with one another and the rivals are so bad that I absolutely hate my opponent. It makes it fun and everyone on here is about having fun, if you're not having fun on a team they'll trade you so you can be.

So here is what I think that should be added, it's two different things. I think we need to change a few things… I think we need to figure out a different sim. Something that is even just a tad more realistic. I think that would help get new people in and help keep people retained here. The other thing is our forum. It is terrible to navigate when you're just starting. I have zero patience so I almost didn't join this league. And I wouldn't of it wasn't for my brother pushing me into it. I don't know the answer but I'm sure someone can come up with at least something better.

What I would remove is some of the stupid ass point tasks. This one in particular. I understand you're trying to find some suggestions to make it better but come on. Ever single god damn season? How am I supposed to bullshit this stupid ass task every season? I only have so many suggestions. Now someone is seriously reading trying to make it better and you have people like me bullshitting it because one I don't give a flying fuck and two all I want is my mother fucking tpe. That was by far the best of my answers. Hopefully you take that into consideration. Even make a different folder in the forum dedicated to NSFl upgrades or a suggestion box.

Yes. Let the hate for Oles point tasks flow through you

Add: Not a huge thing to add, but I think it would be cool to have a place in the forum to talk about PTs. Some of the PTs I've happened to read are the funniest/ most interesting content in the league, but unless someone mentions something in the discord or forum specifically there isn't really a place to talk about them. I think a subforum where people could talk and show off some of the better and more interesting responses would be pretty cool. It could even help motivate some people to try and put as much effort as possible into making PTs, which it seems like a lot of users treat like a chore.

Remove/Change: Weekend Pts are something that I think could be changed around a bit. It's not terrible right now, but the weekend is a pretty short amount of time to do a PT if you happen to be busy. I know personally there are some weekends where I have poor connection to the internet and getting in my response before the deadline is tough. Personally I like how the PBE has been doing PTs where one is a large Pt and one is small, but you have the same amount of time to complete both. I don't know if this exact system needs to be implemented but I think it would help quality of life around the league (at least for me).

Like: There has been a lot of talk about recreate TPE and stuff like that floating around recently. Personally I like how the league handles TPE right now. I've tried out some of the non-money leagues liek the SBA and EFL and I can never get into it as much as I can in money leagues. I don't entirely know what it is about non-money leagues but I feel like it makes earning TPE more of a chore. So if there was one thing that I would say has drawn me to this league as opposed to other leagues it would have to be the money system (I especially like the carryover money from bank accounts, I feel like it's fair to allow users to keep money that they put in work for but haven't gotten around to spending yet).

One thing that i currently like about the league is the activity in the discord chat. I know that some people would prefer the league activity to be on the boards, but i think for the league to survive, having the discord set up for the league is important. So much of the league activity and discussion comes from the discord chat, and i know of a few people who have said that they would not be as active on the site if not for the team chats present. I think more emphasis should be placed on GMs creating a lively discord locker room. NOLA locker room the GOAT locker room, dont @ me.

One thing that i would like to see removed from the league, is the current salary cap and salary system in place. So much of a players money comes from their jobs and their effort on putting out media, and not enough from the contracts that come from the teams themselves. I think players should not be forced to take minimum contract deals in order to stay on the team of their choosing. I also don't think that one should have to work on media nonstop just to meet the weekly $1m training, unless they also have a job + large contract.

One thing that i would like to see added to the league is an automated system on keeping track of TPE and earning TPE. I think what turns a lot of newcomers away from the league is the effort involved with typing everything out manually. When i asked a mod on reddit to post on their subreddit for recruitment, one guy said "It looks too oregon trail-ish" or something like that. I agree, and i think that finding a new system on updating and earning TPE should be a goal for either the near or distant future, to encourage newcomers to stay longer.

Brand new to this league, please take any suggestions not as criticisms. I understand better than anyone about having new members suggest changes to people who've been there forever. This is mostly going to be cosmetic anyway.

1 Thing I'd Add:
One thing I'd like to see added is a darker skin option. I never really thought this would be something I missed, but coming from the SHL, which has a dark option, to here is a lot different than I expected. The site is very bright and just having another option might be good. I'd also like to see a side bar on the site. It's a great way to see which members hold certain jobs, specifically Head Office and GMs. Of course, you could stroll the forums and find out, but having them right there on the home screen creates visibility for the more important members of the league.

1 Thing I'd Remove:
Again, without knowing the inner workings of the league, this is just something that comes to my mind right away. First thing is the idea that you can change positions without any real restrictions. It does seem weird that as a WR I could just decide that I want to be a linebacker. I can see switching from WR to RB or CB to S, but the full changes are something I didn't expect. Another thing is the regression timeline. It seems like you spend around 2-3 seasons in the DSFL and then you get 4-5 seasons in the NSFL before you regression. That seems quite short, however I can that maybe you went this way because football careers are generally shorter than any other sport.

1 Thing I Like:
Already I can see some features of this league that I like. I think the ticker at the top is a great addition to any league and can really be useful if used properly. In the first installment of the SHL, we had a ticker at the top of the league and it was a great way to advertise upcoming games in the schedule, news around the league, and big trades. Another thing that seems rather unique is the video sim. It just gives you something else to get your results and that's always good for members. Being able to actually see your player in action, even just in dot form, is a good feature to a sim league.

One thing that you would like added to the league: I would like an automatic PT claim, and update page be added to the league. So by this I mean a separate page on the site that keeps all of your player TPE information for you. You would go here to update your player with new claims and equipment purchases. You would enter the hyperlink for your different claims and purchases, the system would parse it and determine if you already claimed it or not. Then the system would update all player pages on Saturdays. This would eliminate math errors, would make updating simpler for the common user, eliminate the worst job on the site in updating. It would also help with annoying portions of updates in regression, which can be a math filled nightmare.

One thing that you would like removed: I would like to eliminate the ability to switch positions with only a monetary penalty. I understand the point of it, but as it stands it lessens positional value, and greatly increases user activity value. Why sign a 300 TPE LB in FA, when you can sign the super active 600 TPE TE and he'll position switch to LB. It's kinda crazy, but I really believe it is a big issue that impacts our current FA malaise. Positions are not valued. However, instead of just removing the ability to position switch, I would say imposing a TPE penalty would be more effective. It could be small and permanent or large and temporary, but something to deter position switching. This will cause a natural and needed shift in the positional supply-demand curve and naturally affect FA. If there is only one good LB on the market, he will be in more demand than the flood of WRs, who you could just position switch.

One thing that you currently like: I like the influx of some of the newer talent, and new-ish talent to the league bringing us a nice influx of media. I really like the taunting @supersquare is bringing to the media game. I like the old man @DeathOnReddit and the taunting he brings to the discord servers. I really enjoyed @tlk742's article on his FA choices. @Durden's ranking of potential landing spots was a good read as well. I'm really happy to see the media forum kind of be revived. I guess the one thing that I currently like is all the people on the forum. I consider you guys my friends and it's the reason I come back here. Just to shoot the shit and talk trash about anything. So look for a big media piece from me soon.

Write 1 thing that you would like added to the league, 1 thing that you would like removed, and 1 thing that you currently like. Each part requires 100 words to be written to receive credit for it.

Add!

The thing I would like to see a couple things added to the league. The first, (I think it might be in the works already, but still) would be a way to more automate the updating process/TPE earning process. Basically have it similar to what I've heard about the racing sim league where it tracks TPE like an account balance and you check out (update) via shopping cart. It would make it easier on rookies and updaters!

Secondly, I'd like to see PT Tokens for league job-holders. Doing a league job helps the league a ton obviously, but we often see positions going unfilled. A way to increase job applicants could be ti give PT tokens that can be redeemed to skip a PT. A simple salary is useful for awhile, but eventually you run out of things to spend money on.

Remove!
I would love the ability to remove anybodys complaints about minimum salaries being too low. The system as it is works mostly efficiently. Players taking minimun salaries aren't what is causing the good teams to be good. It certainly helps fit under the cap, but it's not the driving force behind teams being good. Good management, keeping up activity and drafting and retaining top talent is why teams are good. Look at NOLA, Bovo turned that bottom-feeding team into an almost playoff team in one season. It wasn't all the minimum salaries that did it, because he had loads of cap space and FAs still weren't flocking to NOLA. He drafted and traded well and built that team.

Anyway, increasing minimums or changing the dynamic will not affect any of the teams really. Teams that are already good at gaming the system will remain good at gaming the next system, and all we've done is cause inflation and an eventual rise in salary cap.

LIKE!
Bovo. I suppose I can't just type his name over and over and get credit so I'll ramble on. The dude is a chill mf'er and just a fun presence in the league. He's been a friendly, frequent trade partner that doesn't try to nickel and dime you for every possible cent. He sees a fair trade and makes it. I may have the championships to show for it, but Bovo is a better GM than I'll ever be.

Enough Bovosexuality I suppose. The main reason I'm still here is the community in general. You guys are all usually awesome, and when you aren't, I can quietly bitch to TC about it and drink some beers. Keep up being cool NSFL bros and sis's... sistas? Siss? I don't know.

So I have been here now for a little while and while I don’t have a whole lot of complaints, actually none to be completely honest, this is more of just reaching for straws to have something to write about, but I’d like to see the ability to “uncap” so to speak one of your archetype limitations. The cost could be pretty costly to make people think hard about doing it, but it would be nice to have the option. If you fill out your player with your primary attributes, and then secondary ones, eventually you’ll run out things. You can bank for regression, sure, but having that option to uncap would be neat.

The one thing I really like about this league, and has grown on me exponentially, is the ability to do graphics and articles for extra money. Gettting low on funds? Well, go knock out some stuff and beef those funds right back up. You can really sustain a healthy balance to always stay in the green to find your training and equipment every week/season. I also like the fact that TPE is very easy to obtain here. These leagues are for fun, it’s more fun when you can come on and do some small and/or quick stuff and get a handful of tpe for your player.

Remove the long offseason. Get it done sooner. I know that’s always easier said than done, and trust me, I know that, but it’s a balance of will your new guys stick around through that period or get bored and leave. So far so good in that department, but I’d hate to see the member base dwindle because of the length of the offseason.

Overall right now, I can’t complain about much. Everyone has been wonderful and I am having a lot of fun. Keep up the good work everyone.
