*Will we need to fold two NSFL teams? - kckolbe - 05-14-2018 I just want to add that while I wouldn't *fight* it, I am against carryover as well. I'd rather send a message of new players being able to compete than rewarding loyalty. Hell, SHL gives first gen players BONUS TPE opportunities. *Will we need to fold two NSFL teams? - manicmav36 - 05-14-2018 (05-14-2018, 10:30 AM)kckolbe Wrote:I just want to add that while I wouldn't *fight* it, I am against carryover as well. And, as you know, PBE gives first timers a way to earn a solid chunk of extra money. Both fantastic ideas. *Will we need to fold two NSFL teams? - ItsJustBarry - 05-14-2018 I am not going to argue for or against carryover TPE. I can see both sides but there's not much to be said that hasn't already been said. I will say that bank carryover is far less significant since new create gets an automatic $5M DSFL contract and a free $1M training so essentially a $6M rookie season deal. This is tied for 2nd highest NSFL season contract so I wouldn't call their new create bank account being a disadvantage. *Will we need to fold two NSFL teams? - AdamS - 05-14-2018 (05-14-2018, 07:30 AM)kckolbe Wrote:I just want to add that while I wouldn't *fight* it, I am against carryover as well. If I were to join VHL I'll let you know that I'm not fan of carryover When did I say it did? I've been there since Day 1. I have asked around forums on why guys have or haven't joined leagues. You can doubt me if you want, but I'm just laying it out there. It seems you guys just like pissing into the wind though, instead of actually learning from previous and current long standing leagues. *Will we need to fold two NSFL teams? - Kendrick - 05-14-2018 Wait wait wait, never did I even mention scraping cash carryover. TPE carryover takes the place of that. But as a veteran if the only thing I get rewarded for is a lousy bank account then thats pretty shitty. "Well your bank account would be higher if you looked for larger contracts". Yeah I guess we should endorse being an asshole and not being a team player as well. *Will we need to fold two NSFL teams? - majesiu - 05-15-2018 (05-14-2018, 11:38 PM)Kendrick Wrote:When did I say it did? Do you seriously need to use pissing metaphors to emphasize your opinion? I can speak for myself and when joining next leagues after PBE I was looking at various things, TPE carryover among them and as mentioned it one of the reasons I joined leagues that didn't have that. Of course, it wasn't the main reason, it's mechanics, not a heart of sim league after all. It's just simply unfair to me that new players will be severely disadvantaged, even 50 TPE at the start is a huge advantage with update scale. That delay proposal is making a lot more sense to me if we need this to encourage veterans to stay. They get a bonus, but only if they stay for longer without unbalancing first, crucial in my opinion, years in the league for newcomers. If we assume 5% carryover maybe 1% TPE per year since sophomore campaign (so in years 2-6 of recreate career)? *Will we need to fold two NSFL teams? - Kendrick - 05-15-2018 (05-15-2018, 01:04 AM)majesiu Wrote:Do you seriously need to use pissing metaphors to emphasize your opinion?Kind of yeah, because the response I've received in the past or even now concerning things other leagues have been through has been "well this is how it will go...". I'm telling you how it goes as i've already seen the natural progression and run off of some of the decisions. I'm not the be all end all of sim league experience, but I've been in them for 13 years and I can tell you exactly what has happened because unlike the majority here, I'm not just in money-earning leagues. It just seems a lot of people here are set in their ways, which is even more mind boggling considering the amount of sim league inexperience. I'm not calling anyone out, I'm just giving you the realistic point of view of things here. Carryover doesn't not discourage new members if done right. However, when I suggest carryover you have guys automatically going "ohhhhh no not on my watch". So I'll leave it as that. Veterans members have no real motivation to recreate here because the only thing you get is a carryover of a bank account (something a new member can get pretty easily as soon as he reaches the pros and gauges a team for all their worth (Ballerstorm style). *Will we need to fold two NSFL teams? - ExemplaryChad - 05-15-2018 Another vote against carryover TPE here. I don't think it's a world-ending or game-breaking problem. It just feels too... in-crowd for me. Recreates are already going to get huge advantages in the league: huge bank accounts, system knowledge, and higher draft picks. Seriously, when S1 players start recreating, there isn't gonna be a new person picked higher than, what do you think, 10? Some people won't care about that, but to some that's gonna suck a little bit. Knowing that they're automatically worse on top of that? I just don't think it's very new-player-focused. I can only give anecdotal evidence, but I can tell you the reason I haven't joined the SHL is that I've heard it's very cliquey, with the old guys already knowing each other and giving special treatment on that basis. Implementing carryover TPE isn't going to hurt me any (in fact, it would help me), but I just don't think it's a very outward-facing policy. *Will we need to fold two NSFL teams? - Kendrick - 05-15-2018 Everyone voting no to carryover because of the benefits, once again; THEY WOULD NOT RECEIVE THEIR MONEY CARRYOVER! |
