My favorite memory of the DSFL is of course, the great, nay legendary, S5 season.

Pretty much all offensive players weren't very good. First, at quarterback, only 4 players had more TDs than INTs. Out of those we have one guy who threw for less than 2000 yards, one guy who was a bot, and one guy who played in 2 games. We had no rusher over 1000 yards or 10 rushing TD. And in receiving we had a whopping two guys pass 1000 yards, with the highest mark for TDs being 7. Overall, offense was just really bad.

Then of course we had the meme legend. Here both the bot teams, Palm Beach and Norfolk beat out San Antonio and Kansas City to make it into the DSFL playoffs. Norfolk was an away team to the league leading Portland, and ended up losing a tight 14-10 game, but the Solar Bears were top in their division and wound up destroying the Luchadores 27-3. In the Ultimini, despite being the away team, Palm Beach overcame the odds and won 17-3, becoming the first and so far only bot team to take home the crown in the DSFL. That alone is enough reason to be the best DSFL season ever

Jordan von Matt didn't have a great time in the DSFL. He felt that he was deserving of a lot more play time, and was overshadowed by other wide receiver prospects that didn't end up panning out. He was drafted by the Kansas City Coyotes, and he was never the #1 receiver at his position. He would have loved to see if he could have broken any records in the DSFL, especially the single season receiving yards record. Everything ended well though, as he did gain some much needed experience to prepare himself for the NSFL, a much more difficult league that had its own challenges to deal with. Jordan used this experience as a slot receiver in the number 3 position to transition to the NSFL with the Philadelphia Liberty. Understandably, Jordan wasn't the best receiver that the Liberty had, but since he was used to playing in the slot, he still had a very successful rookie season. Cut to this current season, Jordan finished with the 4th highest receiving yards and the 2nd most receiving touchdowns. He even spent some time returning kicks to help his team get better field position. Jordan looks back on his time in the DSFL and wonders what could have been, but it was still a good experience overall.

Ah yes the DSFL what a magical time for my player whose name is Blackford Oakes you see Blackford Oakes was picked up off waivers by the Tijuana Luchadores and then was never put into the sim so he never actually played even though he was technically part of the team which is the Tijuana Luchadores so his time in the DSFL which is the Developmental Simulation Football League was mostly spent watching from the sidelines and not actually doing anything so that was pretty sweet I must say however the DSFL has gotten quite a bit better since then so when I retire this player whose name is Blackford Oakes and create a new player whose name is yet to be determined then I am pretty excited to play my first ever DSFL game so that'll be pretty cool for sure hopefully it'll be for the Tijuana Luchadores which was the team that picked up my first player because I definitely owe the franchise some games for sure so hopefully they're able to select my recreate who I haven't named yet to play for them the Tijuana Luchadores but honestly the DSFL is awesome like it's a whole different meta than the main league which is boring as shit like look what San Antonio did where they just beat the shit out of teams by running the ball like 24/7 it was awesome and you'd never see that in the NSFL.

Oh man was my time in the DSFL a hectic one. Joining a team that moved from Kansas City to Chicago was totally bizarre, especially since fans in both cities were seemingly angry with us. The Kansas City fans felt betrayed for us leaving them, and how could you blame them? But as rumors came out that we weren't going to stay in Chicago for more than just that season, the Windy City fans turned on us pretty quickly. Compound that with an extremely talented team that was underperforming (partially due to the reasons listed above) and you have a rough start to your career.

That Coyotes team was very interesting though. We ended up having the #1 overall pick in the draft in Cordell Joshua, and the three most talented and most recognized names from that draft class (myself, Borkus Maximus III, and the artist formerly known as Poopyface Tomatonose, Jaylon Broxton) were all from that team, yet we couldn't win if our lives depended on it. I certainly didn't help, as I was focused both on finishing my degree at school halfway across the country and kicking at the same time, and both ends suffered because of it. But I wouldn't change my experience for the world, as it really developed me into a prepared player for the professional level.

Some great memories in the DSFL - from joining in S5 and playing with Fletcher in the San Antonio secondary coverage, some friendly competition including ribbing him that he never got a pick 6 (his was resimmed) even though Fletcher had much better stats than my guy Morris. Learning and chilling with kolbe and slm as the SA GMs, who were both terrific and took us under their wing to introduce the sim and the league. My memories from that DSFL season were centred around Hero and I doing the NFY podcasts, the SA defense, and friendly competition on the team for defensive stats.

Later, it was awesome to get the opportunity to co-GM with kolbe after slm joined HO. Late nights sim testing dozens of strategies. And then, later, GMing SA solo for a few seasons was a terrific time and I got to know a lot of really awesome guys that way and introduce a few to the league. And where Run and I got our first GMing gig and won the Ultimini that season. Pretty incredible run that season to kick off our GMing careers. It was sad to leave the DSFL life, and I'm looking forward to getting back into that league with my new guy.

Awesome. Glad I found this.
