(S18) - PT1 - Defense wins Championships! - Modern_Duke - 10-19-2019 The Colorado Yeti did not have a good defense in Season 17, allowing the most yards per game and the third most points per game. However, the good news is the Yeti are a young team and are ready to make big improvements. On the defensive line, Season 17 first round pick is ready to make a big second year leap, and has already accumulated 4 sacks in the Yeti's first four games. Elsewhere, rookies Trae Bacon and former tight end Steco Ocewilder joins the defensive line that is looking to dramatically improve upon its worst in the league 21 sacks in Season 17. The linebacking corps is an area of strength for the Yeti, as the Season 15 class duo of Mo Berry and Tony Gabagool lead the charge for the defense. These two alone combined for 210 of the Yeti's league leading 703 team tackles last season. However, the really exciting squad is the secondary. The Yeti forced an amazing 16 interceptions last season, lead by cornerback Quentin Sinclair's 7 picks. Now, the team added the top two defensive backs in the Season 18 draft class, with cornerback Louisiana Purchase and safety Pete Parker. Purchase is the reigning unanimous DSFL Defensive Player of the Year and contributed 7 interceptions of his own to the San Antonio Marshals last season. Pete Parker has already proven to be a star in the secondary, with 2 interceptions and a defensive touchdown in the early part of Season 18. But they're average at best. We've seen championship caliber defenses come and go in this leagues. It's really just an offensive league. No current YKW defense will make a difference without a leader. You know who that leader was? The long gone Cameron Taylor. What a stud. He won Ultimus trophies. He was a winner. But you know who does have a young buzzing defense? The Chicago Butchers. Now you could ask 100 players in the league to name a starter on the Butcher's squad and I don't think anyone could. That's the beauty of it though. There are no stars, we just play good enough to let the offense score more points than we let in. That's how you win football games. That's what YKW fail to understand. You have to allow less points than you score. I know I've been harsh towards my Wraiths brothers, but hey, at least we aren't the Philadelphia Liberty. That would be a nightmare. Talk about a never ending dumpster fire. Main point is: Everyone has been underestimating the Butchers since expansion and here we are after taking down the Yeti and Hawks on Friday at 3-1. So by all means, continue to estimate us. We love to be estimated. 217 (S18) - PT1 - Defense wins Championships! - ADwyer87 - 10-19-2019 SHL PT (S18) - PT1 - Defense wins Championships! - Snussu - 10-19-2019 SHL PT (S18) - PT1 - Defense wins Championships! - tlk742 - 10-19-2019 PBE (S18) - PT1 - Defense wins Championships! - Lowlycrib - 10-19-2019 The San Jose Sabercats aren't really known for any one aspect of their team at the moment but one could say that their defense is the stronger of the 3 facets of the game for them. Their defense is a young one and mixed with a few veterans such as Freezer, Staley, Tuck, and Deringer. They may not be able to suppress many of the elite offenses in the NSFL but they can do their best to get better every week and to learn from their mistakes as they gain experience. Their defensive back core is arguably the best aspect of their defense with players such as Staley, Tuck, Brackenridge, and all of their newly drafted rookies which have all looked promising in their start to their careers. Tyron Brackenridge, as long as he remains on this teams, aims to teach the new rookies in the areas that he excels at such as his tackling skills and how to patrol the field as a ball hawk. This Sabercats team will be capable of big things in the near future but this season doesn't appear to be as bright due to their youth and relative inexperience and skills. (230 words) In order to become one of the great defenses in the league this team needs to invest in the defensive line because Freezer Riposte needs another talented line mate to be truly effective (S18) - PT1 - Defense wins Championships! - SabaDonutMan - 10-19-2019 Defense?! You want me to write about my team’s defense?! Defense is a waste of time, offense is where it's at. Fine, I want my 3 TPE so I’ll talk about the Arizona Outlaws’s defense. Let's start with the defensive line. Our 2 defensive ends are Chad Maulalo and Marc Spector, both of which are inactive. Maulalo was originally a part of the Liberty but he was traded during the offseason for our backup running back, Seer Zephyrous, and another defensive end, Steven Moore. Although he may not have the most tpe, he is young and won’t regress for a long time. Marc Spector on the other hand, is a seasoned veteran. He started his career all the way back in season 11. He does have a 416 TPE but his first season of regression will hit him soon so he should enjoy the time he has left. Oh wait, hes inactive. Moving on to the defensive tackles, we have Ricardo Morris and Shane Masters. Morris is inactive so I am going to skip over him. Masters on the other hand, is in fact active so I will he talking about him. Masters is a very young player from the s17 draft who was picked up in the second round. Although he was in the DSFL last season he is in the major now and ready to make his mark. He may not be a max earner but because he is a defensive linemen he gets to earn at his own pace. I would talk about linebackers now but I’m already past 200 words so I don’t see a reason too. Let’s just say our defense is one of the best in the league.
