After a mediocre season, Dougie Smalls has his eyes on a career year. Last season, despite being a highly touted rookie kicker, Smalls had trouble making Field Goals throughout the regular season. Hence, Smalls has spent his offseason continuing to work on his accuracy. With this new long offseason focused on perfecting his craft, Smalls is eying Kicker of the Year and a NSFC Pro Bowl in S22. With the expansion moving Venus Powers to the ASFC, Smalls has a much better shot at making the Pro Bowl. In addition to these individual accomplishments, Smalls is eying a championship. Yellowknife has consistently made it to the big game, only to lose it. S21 was no different. But this season, the team has not only improved through the draft and free agency, but the landscape of the division has changed through the expansion. On paper, the path to the big game should be much easier with a weaker division, but it all comes down to beating Colorado in the playoffs, the only other competitive team in the division. If Smalls and the Wraiths can get past Colorado, they can get to the big game for a 5th time in a row, 2nd time in a row for Smalls. Then it all comes down to one thing: #changetheending.

Lawrence Bass wants to win. That’s the most important thing to him; helping his team get to the W. This season he’ll be playing at Defensive End, rather than his preferred Linebacker position, in order to help create some more pressure. The LB core is strong in San Jose, and will be for seasons to come, but Bass’ skillset can easily wreak havoc from the line as well. As far as accolades and records, it doesn’t seem feasible to shoot for any of those this season. But, a broad team goal, that is well within reach, is making the playoffs.

Many people have already written off the San Jose season as a lost cause, but they are going to open a lot of eyes. Their defense has always been incredibly stout, allowing the third fewest points just last season, and it only got stronger this off season. The doubters say that the offense didn’t get any better, because their few offensive selections will be playing in the DSFL again this season. But, it’s been said for decades now: Defense wins championships. Will San Jose win the Ultimus this season? Maybe not. But Lawrence Bass is hell bent on making sure they get an opportunity to dance with the best of them, after week 14.

This season is a new opportunity for Rando Cardrissian to show he belongs as the number one back in San Jose. The next step after getting some surprise recognition as a leading candidate for Offensive Rookie of the Year is to reach for Breakout Player of the Year. That would start with breaking out of the shadow of Quindarius Tyerucker and proving he deserves a bigger number of touches. San Jose started off Season 22 with the two sharing carries. It'll take him better performances than 43 yards off 15 carries. Even if he doesn't outright snatch the leading back role, the team feels like a marked improvement already with a strong defense who just needs a better offense to support them. His next goal would be to help possess the ball more and win games that would swing San Jose into postseason contention. With the offense being the weak link, the passing game would receive a huge shot if he could improve his game more and even offer himself as a viable passing/checkdown option. In general, he needs to work with the team better and fit their scheme smoother. With better focus in training, the power back can make himself more useful in the long drives and especially be a force in the red zone and near the goal line, where the Sabercats so often fell short in Season 21.

My name is Von Hayes, and it's my first year in the big leagues, with all the other big boys. A 10th round pick, I shouldn't really even be here. But for now, I'm a starter and a key part of the offense. Draft night was rough, I was seeing mocks where I was going multiple rounds earlier than where I landed, but thats over now. I'm a starter, and I've got the support of my whole team and upper management. So instead of sulking on what happened in the past, I have to look ahead at tackling my biggest goal, becoming the best I can be, and winning. The Chicago Butchers are the only team excluding the new expansion teams that have not made an Ultimus game. The Butchers are in a rough patch, a franchise QB is retiring, and a lack of upcoming draft picks. But none of that matters, it will all fall onto the players and coaches, to be the best we can. It will definitely be a difficult and potentially long process, but my goal is to bring Chicago to the Ultimus. I know that making the Ultimus is challenging even for the best teams, but it will make it all the more satisfying when that day finally comes.

Last season, Daymond Brooks was considered a steal as the 208th pick in the S21 DSFL draft. I think that got to his head a little bit because being active alone doesn't mean you were worth being drafted. He had a good offseason, finally capitalizing on making media, graphics, and tweeting. This year, he intends to max out and be looked at by the Honolulu Hahalua as they make their call-ups for next year. He's projected to remain in Minnesota until S24, but he'll work hard to make it difficult for Honolulu to leave him in the DSFL. Off the field, he intends to help the rookies and newer players acclimate to the tough schedule that the NSFL and DSFL entails. He knows from personal experience that it's not an easy task. He hopes to help players like Tychondrius Hood just as other players helped him. As long as he's in the DSFL, he plans to make the most of it by A.) elevating his team, and B.) having a good year personally. Heading into S22 as the first WR on the depth chart, he's hoping to make the most of his increased targets and opportunities. He's built some chemistry with QB Sim SnowBow and hopes to help ease the burden of RB Jamar Lackson. Daymond will use S22 in Minnesota as the anvil to sharpen his skillset to eventually help his NSFL expansion team in Honolulu.

Benoit Blanco

What is an aspiration? What is an accomplishment? For the new French-born footballer? It is just being a part of a team. All his life, Benoit grew up wanting more for himself, Football was not huge in his hometown but he made the best of his situation. When things begin for his career, his achievement beyond being selected will simply be to show off his skill and win what he can, contribute where I can and help the team get some points. I know as rookie it will be hard sometimes to prosper but I will do my best for my team to learn what I can and do what I can for them.

My other goal is to make lots of friends here because I know they are good to have and hopefully my team will be friendly because I enjoy shooting the shit and having a good time and just enjoying myself, and part of the fun is being able to do that with a good group of guys. A lot of people may think that my talents are lackluster but I can promise them they are not, I am going to make sure I show them that I am worth every penny of what they pay for me and that I am going to do big things for them too.

Overall, the outake of this, is not to skip over Benoit Blanco, he is going to be an elite threat at wide receiver and is going to take over the league. Make sure you keep your eyes out for him.

There's nothing like the youthfulness of a promising career. Griffin Porter believes himself capable of more than anyone could possibly anticipate. That said, over-promising, especially to oneself, is a dangerous game. This isn't lost on Porter. Knowing this, he has set lofty, but (what he believes to be) attainable goals.

An ultimini is the ultimate testament to team chemistry, second only to an ultimus. Above all, this is what Porter is out to prove. He plays for the team. Though this isn't something that occurs overnight. There is a lot of work involved in building that chemistry. It takes long nights studying film with teammates, and it takes prowess on the field to gain their respect. It isn't as easy as one might initially imagine.

Though, it would be unusual to say someone with such lofty goals isn't out to prove themselves as an individual. That's why DRotY is also in the sights of Griffin Porter. He not only wants to prove himself worthy of the accolade to his team, but to the entire league, NSFL included. After all, this is only the beginning for Griffin Porter. This is where his chance to impress NSFL teams and GMs begins. Making an impression as an individual can be everything. To an extent, one can only hold themselves truly accountable, after all.
