With limited knowledge on the history of busts in this league, since the real bad ones are put away into a dark corner to be forgotten about for all those involved, there is only really one possible name for me to talk about, Sweet James-Jones.

Whilst most obviously, a first round pick that ends up not being able to live out their entire career automatically makes it a bust, what makes it over the top is in the way it happens. NSFL teams draft with more scrutiny on who will fit their team needs, either by their personality or position. A first-round pick essentially means that a top player in that class can go to your team, meaning they should be occupying one of team spots with high TPE gain, good personality and activeness. What Chicago go out of SJJ failed miserably. A first-round pick is expected to be a giant part of the teams image, and what SJJ did will always remain a blood-stain on the Butchers past. A misused first round pick on someone that doesn’t just go IA, but banned, is a high value to lose. SJJ was expected to be a part of the future Butchers line-up, a mainstay as a first round pick, yet that got blown to pieces by some “character work” that was astonishingly over the line. It can therefore be considered, the draft pick that was the biggest bust in history.

For me the worst draft pick of all tim in the NSFL goes to K/P Stephen Harris Jr., who got selected as 8OA in S14 by the Yellowknife Wraiths. After selecting QB Cooter Bigsby from the San Antonio Marshals as first overall pick, the Wraiths traded up to make another selection in the first round and to the surprise of most people decided to take a K/P with this pick. Stephen Harris Jr. played for the Tijuana Luchadores in the DSFL and was one of three Kickers selected in this draft. The TPE Tracker shows his highest TPE as 131, which indicates that he wasn't very active. He couldn't help the franchise that much. In his first season in the NSFL, he had the second lowest percentage in field goals made with 84.6% and he only made 90% of his extra points.
The better option as a K/P would definitely have been Alfredo Crisco, who was chosen in the secound round as 12OA by New Orleans Second Line. Not only did Crisco have better stats in his first NSFL season, he became an active member, gained much more TPE and in contrast to Harris Jr. he is still playing in the NSFL for the Austin Copperheads. In hindsight the Wraiths should have definitely selected Crisco over Harris.

My choice for biggest draft bust is not the most conventional, and I believe that anyone could rightfully challenge me here, but my choice is Zack Vega. Now, I am aware that Vega was drafted with the twenty fifth pick in a draft that had thirty-three players. I am aware that people knew about 'attitude' and 'problems' before the National Simulation Football League's season nineteen draft, yet I have three words that will back up my ideas.

Chicago Shit Show.

First and foremost, Vega was a good enough player to receive the interest of Chicago and end up there after an initial stint at Arizona. But when you think of a draft bust, you normally think of a player who was not able to be of any use for their team. Zack Vega was not only part of a very bad Butchers squad, he was also an instrumental figure in unravelling a bad internal situation for the Butchers, and publicised them for all of the league to see. Vega's actions led to the widespread ridicule of the team, and the complete shaming of Chicago's general managers. No other draftee here has completely unravelled the foundation of his team and cemented their status as a joke. If there was some dramatic irony to end this story, Vega lost his starting job in Sarasota to Chicago's quarterback.

The disrespect when it comes to draft position for even very high end Running Backs in the National Simulation Football League may be, as experts say, “wack AF”. After all, Acura Skyline, the DSFL Offensive Player of the Year, Running Back of the Year, and Offensive Rookie of the Year somehow dropped all the way to the 4th round. However, sometimes when a team reaches and picks a running back early, it comes back to bite them. A great example of this is Antonio Summer, picked by my very own team the Yellowknife Wraiths who was drafted fourth overall in the Season Eleven NSFL draft. At the time Summer made sense, despite the bias against running backs, due to his high level of performance and commitment to getting TPE in the DSFL. However, it did not pan out, as Summer ended up being the only player in the first round of that draft to never make a pro bowl appearance. Additionally, to add insult to injury, all other teams in the draft played the waiting game and the next running backs off the board were not until Round Three, where Jerrod Canton and Slim Shady both were taken. Both of these running backs, unlike Summer, eventually made it to the pro bowl while Summer faded into history. That’s a pretty serious bust.

My choice for the biggest draft bust is the selection of Lucari Felix by the Philadelphia Liberty in Season 10. This biggest reason he is my choice for one of the worst draft busts is his high draft number and then going almost directly after... Inactive. The story of Lucari Felix shows a ton of promise. He played football from middle school and by high school, he was well sought after and received a scholarship to play at Florida State. After 3 years there he joined the DSFL after being drafted in the 2nd round by the Portland Pythons. His one season in the DSFL showed a ton of promise with 14 tackles, 4 deflections, and an interception.

His performance received a ton of praise from the head office of the Philadelphia Liberty who ended up selecting Felix 3rd Overall! The high draft selection and great developmental season had the Liberty excited for what else was to come from this Cornerback. Was he going to be the #1 cornerback on the team in a few years? Was he going to be the unstoppable return man like he was in college? No, he was not anything slowly fading away and not progressing like they once thought. A wasted pick in the top 3 is something that would be regretted for years to come.

The worst draft pick is of course when NOLa selected the one and only Dylan Deluxe at 4OA aka the one and only Thudd Kastle. Let's be real when have a new meme name ever workout? I could tell DD aka Thudd kastle wasnt going to make it far from the start. First reason why that pick was so bad is because he was selected at 4OA and picking him high wasnt only shocking but there was 2 LBs higher in TPE then him! And one of those LBs was one of the TPE earners in the class too which is Maurice Virtanan who is still earning very well on the Yellowknife Wraiths. Second he had tons of red flags before he was drafted, he posted many disturbing memes in the rookie discord, he started many riots and his general ugly attitude in general was a major red flag. I think all those flags proved right too when we violently tried to ruin our own commish with his friend SJJ with nasty out of context screenshots. I'm general DD was way over drafted dispite his attitude in the rookie discord and 3rd lowest LB in the class. I think this will prove to be one of the most worst recent draft picks in NSFL history.
