Dallas Birddogs have not had the best start to the season. 1 home win and 3 losses. However there has been a few rising stars and a a hard nosed leader guiding us and keeping us in games. The leader I refer to within our packflock is none other than Zoe Watts. Winner of "Best in Show" several times this season already, this savvy veteran has been leading by example, with incredible rushing numbers and an almost unstoppable engine when out there on the field. Keeping the rest of the team entertained in the locker room with wise words and even wiser jokes.

A few of the rising stars include three members from the Birddoggystyle defense. All rookies, you may want to look out for some of these players picking up the DROY when all is said and done. Guy Fields LB, despite being a rookie he is a locker room favourite and an amazing player to boot. He is racking up tackle numbers and despite the defenses slow start to the season, expect this player to go from strength to strength. The next is Lionel Rumper, safety. A relatively quiet start to the season, however his balanced style is paying dividends in our defensive scheme with him racking up tackles and deflecting a few passes. Look for him to make a meteoric rise as the season progresses. Last but not least is Raylan Crowder, defensive end. Crowder has been turning some heads in practice and in the locker room. He's been putting his mind to the test and learning about the X's and O's of the game to help further his own development within the team. Hopefully this translates, as he works hard during the week to prepare for game time, and this guy probably has the highest potential out of all the rookies on the defense.

I had a quick look at all the different stats that Portland Pythons have so far. Unfortunately there is no stat or player that is a standing out at the moment compared to the rest of the league. Except one… Buster ‘Boulder’ Bawlls. I’m only kidding but we will get to Bawlls later.

It is in fact Portland Pythons kicker Pseudo QB. Stats for the number 1 Kicker in the DSFL; 4 games, 9 extra point attempts, 9 extra points made. 100% record on extra points is amazing and expected. A fellow 3 kickers also have a 100% record on extra points, but all of these kickers have missed a field goal. What about Pseudo QB on field goals, No missed field goals. 5 for 5 from 30-39 yards and 5 for 5 from 40-49 yards. Also with the longest field goal of the season so far, 47 yards.

To recap Pseudo QB is the best kicker in the DSFL. No misses at all and the longest field goal of the season. If any Portland Python player deserves an award then it has to be Pseudo QB.

P.S. another player on the Pythons roster deserving of an award is Buster Bawlls for best Fullback.

Ben Anabender on which team mate deserves an award:

"Mate, none of yas likes talking about Special Teams, maybe it's because they're barely 'simulated' whatever that means, maybe it's because they're not like the rest of the game, or maybe it's because you don't have a national sport based on kicking the s*** out of a ball. But me? As a defenseman I can appreciate when my job is made easier by the deadly wicked barrels week in and week out from our own god leg Mr Blago Kokot. Speaking first hand as a member of a defence that has struggled against the run this mad c*** has made the other team run whole bloody field lengths to score on us, and when I get that much extra field time to show my greatness it feels good. He makes their job harder, our job easier and we gave him a game ball but nobody likes talking about him anyway. Bloody legend in my eyes. Deadly leg on him, shoulda moved to Australia woulda been better appreciated there."

As of week 4 Kokot has the longest punt, longest average punts, second most inside 20's (trailing the leader in Myrtle Beach by 1) and he's managing it with the same volume of punts as any other in the league. Absolute shoe in so far.

Portland is in bit of a tough spot right now, season has not started as well as many hoped, that also shows in the players and their seasons. There are of course few bright lights, rookie Pama is 4th in yards rushing with his 385, he could have what it takes to be a contender for Offensive Rookie of the Year IF Pama and Portland as a team manages to have a strong second half to the season.

Myles Smith is third in tackles with 53. Two Minnesota linebackers are ahead of him, but similar to Pama a strong second half to the season could put Smith into the award talks for Defensive Player of the Year. Third player I'm going to mention is kicker Pseudo QB, he has been having a strong year. Pseudo is one of two players with pure 100 FG% and he is tied for longest kick so far - 47 yards. If Pseudo is able to keep going like this, I would nominate him for Performance of the Year purely because of his accuracy as a kicker.

Portland does not maybe have the brightest stars from early of the season, but the team has enough potential to turn the somewhat rainy start to a positive ending, when that happens the players will also start to shine more and it will be easier to see more players who could be up for awards after the season.

So when I look at my team BBB I do not see any individual player currently in the running for any of the awards given out at the end of the season. Instead I see a team that is much greater than the sum of its parts. You see while our team is leading the league in rushing, we don't have a single runner in the Top 5, instead we have 3 over 350 yards for the season. Our passing game is near the bottom of the league and our defensive is upper middle of the pack. hell we even have a negative point differential So how on Earth are the Buccaneers 4-2 right now? The answer is simply our GMs. They have put together a roster that works well with each other and can still compete in games. More importantly, they have created excellent game plans that allow us to compete on the field despite the current gap in on field talent. As the season progresses, our team will only get better as we have 4 maxed players (second lowest in the league). If the team is 4 - 2 now imagine what they will end with as the on field product gets better. Quite simply the Buccaneers success is due completely to the GMs and they should be the favorite to take the GM of the year award at the end of the season.

So i think the first player to win deserve an award in my team is my quarterback mr O holloway aka spec, and the award he deserves is the jameis winston trophy. You never know which holloway youre going to get any given game, either he pulls out 150 rushing yards, the next game he throws 3 picks including back to back pick 6s (even beating out jameis himself).
Having by far the highest avg YPC he certainly deserves some sort of award either for being a genius or the other thing.

The other award that i sincerely hope our Team wont get is for best record missing out on playoffs... And it certainly looks possible so far, given that the Myrtle Beach Buccs are currently third place in the division, with a record of 4-2

Lastly i would like to have said that my player was on record breaking pace throughout the first 3 weeks, with 3 turnovers (2 interception and 1 forced fumble) ,7 PDs and 15 tackles through only the first 3 weeks, but since then there was been a HARD drop off in performance unfortunately, but if I can pick up and continue performing like in the first 3 weeks then winning any type of award is a real possibility

I have been blessed to be around some truly incredible teammates this season, and I have seen some of the incredibly kind words written about me, so it is time for me to return the favour. Norfolk's rookie defensive end Sam Roes deserves, at the very least, to be in consideration for performance of the season. During his very first game, travelling to the west coast, to Portland and delivering five tackles for loss is an absolutely insane statline that I doubt will be topped any time soon. This becomes even more impressive when one takes into consideration the fact that during last season, there were four players who got four tackles for losses. Across the fifty-six games of the last season, there were only seven games where a player even came close to achieving four tackles for losses. Moreover, with regards to season twenty-three, the tackle for losses leader achieved nineteen over fourteen games. To reach a quarter of that within only one game is a ridiculous feat and testament to Roes' abilities and dedication to this league. Ultimately, whilst I do want my players to win all the awards, I feel like Roes has set himself up for a great season, a likely pro bowl slot and almost definitely getting his name on the ballot for performance of the year.
