For this point task, I will be detailing why the Sarasota Sailfish will make it back to the playoffs. We'll go over with, regression, expansion, fa/retirements, and then end with the draft.

Regression

The Sailfish did have two key personnel in regression and one who was lost entirety. Dexter Banks, the starting QB, is in his final year of his career. This does slow down the Sailfish just a little, but he has been able to maintain all his key attributes. The same can be said for Xaiven Adams. The CB is still very strong and a veteran presence. Lucas Knight the other starting corner regressed passed his usefulness.

Expansion

The Sailfish came out ok in expansion. They lost a really great contributor in Clark Boyd. He was a great locker room presence and did a lot of the little thing to make the offense tick.
The Sailfish also lost Eric Richards, who they traded for during the season to shore up their Safety position.

Fa/retirements

The didn't have any major losses here.

In the draft they were able to acquire. a starting caliber cb, te, ol, and some very nice depth for the future. They also had Cuco Clemente move over to Safety. The Sailfish are a young team posed to make another deep playoff run.

So I was wracking my brain to find out what I was going to write about for this point task, and I finally thought of something. I think the ISFL expansion team, the Berlin Fire Salamanders are going to win the Ultimus this year, but not for the reasons you can think of. Let's take a look at their competition, the Yeti, Liberty, Copperheads, Otters, Hahalua, Butchers, Hawks, Sailfish, Wraiths, Silverbacks, Sabercats, and all of the others that I do not want to type out right now. What do they all have in common? They are all flammable. If I have this right, a Fire Salamander is a lizard that has fire breath. So really, they have no challenge, the only team that really stands a chance is the Wraiths. The only reason I say that is because they are like ghosts or something. But fire usually works pretty well against the undead and I am the one writing this, so I say the Salamanders win. If you need any more evidence for my claims that the Fire Salamanders breathing fire, do not come to me because I am not a lizard expert, which I looked up by the way and a lizard expert is called a herpetologist, who would have known.

This season there can only be one kicker in the DSFL that can help the team win it all and get potentially both kicker and punter of the year, and that kicker is no other then Minessota Ducks own Gluteus Maximus. My first point is that I am already ahead of the s26 class when it comes to TPE! My stats is already good when week 1 comes rolling, nearly 80 kicking power and 80 kicking accuracy and if those stats doesn't produce good kicking stats from the start, then I don't know what else to tell you! My next point is, I simply don't have any competitions. Mcderpants? That scrub is barely active. The pope chickened out and decided to switch to defensive end so that crosses out a potential s26 kickers alresdy. By the time the end of the season rolls around ill be nearly cap on my kicking stats. Also, don't forget that nearly every kicker in the DSFL last season was called up to play in the big boy leagues, this should mark my awards! My final statement before the season starts is "you not prepared for my absolute huge leg and glutes is about to do this league, I might be the best kicker to ever step foot in the DSFL, and you better believe that.

RE: (S25) - PT 1 - Opening Statements - negs - 10-06-2020

I believe that when assessing draft value in the DSFL, when needed, quarterbacks and running backs are of higher value than the defensive line and cornerbacks are when needed. I see the draft in the DSFL similar to recruiting in college basketball. Cornerbacks and defensive line are the closest thing to “one and done” in the ISFL landscape. On the other hand, due to fewer opportunities in the ISFL quarterbacks and running backs are the “developmental 3 year prospects”. As a DSFL organization, unless you are one of the top teams competing for the Ultimini, I believe there is more value in investing in talent that will stay over a possibility of a one year player. In the simulation, there is a heavy priority and importance to defense. Cornerbacks are vital, the defensive line must stop the run game, and linebackers fly everywhere. As a result, there is more demand for this, causing more DSFL defensive players to be one and done than their offensive counterparts. As a running back or quarterback, the DSFL team has the possibility of them staying for the full three eligible years. As most 1st rounders are close to if not max earners, they will be capped by the second year. In a 2-3 year span, a DSFL team is getting 1-2 years of a capped player rather than 1 year of progression and then simply a possibility of one full capped year for an in demand defensive player. This opinion is SOLELY based on draft value, not value to a team or value to winning as I have not yet been able to dive into that aspect as much. In terms of pure draft value in the first few rounds, I believe drafting a position that is of less positional importance but will be capped for longer holds more value than a player who is just one and done, even if they are at a more important position in terms of the simulation. One specific example I can give is Sam Howitzer. Rather than staying just the 1 year that many defensive players or OL stay in the DSFL, Howitzer stayed down the extra year and hit cap. This allowed him to earn league MVP and lead the Pythons to an unlikely playoff spot.

Tijuana Luchadores will win the championship next season.

For starters, the secondary is stacked. All of there Defensive backs were drafted in the ISFL draft
Triplet was a 1st round pick
Football league was a 3rd round pick
Alexander-Arnold was a 4th round pick
Gillion a 5th round pick.

All 4 are max TPE in the DSFL.  Gillion moves to SS in their base defense to keep all 4 on the field then slides to nickel DB.

They lead the DSFL in pass deflections with 53 last season and had 12 interceptions which was 2nd best.  They also had 2 defensive TDs which was tied for the league lead.  They will again lead in pass deflections and will lead in INTs

Vance Slattery DT was drafted in the 2rd round, also max TPE.  Timmy Dimbi the other DT, also max TPE.

Issac Owens is an up and coming DE.

Two up and coming LB BamBam McMullet
And Vincent Jones Jr

The defense is loaded and probably will be the top defense in the DSFL.  They have an expired secondary and defensive line to give the Linebackers time to grow and gain experience.

Offensive rookie of the year Bronko Mills returns as well as well as Mike Boss Jr.  Boss was second in the league in passing yards last season.

Also returning is Adam Mellot (2nd round pick in the ISFL draft) who anchors the left side of the offensive line.

3 rookies WR who will benefit from an experienced QB and a strong running game.

Defense wins championships and Tijuana's defense is loaded.  They will have a ball hawking defense and strong run game

Though some may say I come at this topic with a little bit of bias, I know for a fact that the Tijuana Luchadores are the greatest team to ever grace the DSFL. With four years of experience in Tijuana, I can confidently say that, without Tijuana, I don't think I'd still be an active member here today, and I believe that would apply to many other players as well. Not only is Tijuana the most successful team in the DSFL, but it also boasts one of, if not the best, locker rooms in the entire league. Even when Luchadores are eventually called up to the ISFL, no one ever really leaves Tijuana, with constant visits and check-ups in Tijuana. Despite now being an Austin Copperhead, I am going to be watching every Tijuana game and rooting for them all the way to the Ultimini. Despite the number of call-ups every season, Tijuana manages to be a big contender every single season, regardless of what people are predicting. After last season, Tijuana suffered some big losses, notably, the presence of the long-time Kiwi duo of Doug Howlett and Friedrich Vequain, yet Tijuana has covered their losses very well in the DSFL draft by drafting three solid receivers, among other important positions like linebacker. Once again, Tijuana is also in line to secure yet another Ultimini, which should be no surprise for anyone. There may be arguments for some other teams, but in my mind, I have no doubt that the Tijuana Luchadores are the greatest team in the DSFL.

RE: (S25) - PT 1 - Opening Statements - Thor - 10-06-2020

Something I've seen people discussing quite a bit is whether the ISFL could have expanded with more than two teams in this past offseason. Today I am going to argue the case as to why two teams was an appropriate amount to increase, not due to the needs of the ISFL - but instead the needs of it's developmental league, the DSFL.

This season we saw the following numbers of call ups:

Dallas: 8
Kansas City: 8
London: 12
Myrtle Beach: 8
Minnesota: 4
Norfolk: 13
Portland: 11
Tijuana: 7

Total Call Ups: 71 Players

The reason I bring this up is because this can be a general guide to how many players each team will need coming into the next season, assuming they had a full roster the previous season (including use of GM bots, but not filler bots). Keep in mind not every team had a roster without any filler bots last season already as it is, and would therefore need *more* than the listed call ups to fill out their roster, but I digress.

To compare to this, the entire S26 draft class had 60 players picked - a deficit of 11. Teams drafted the following amounts of players each:

Dallas: 8 (0)
Kansas City: 7 (-1)
London: 7 (-4)
Myrtle Beach: 7 (-1)
Minnesota: 8 (+4)
Norfolk: 7 (-6)
Portland: 7 (-4)
Tijuana: 7 (0)

As you can see, every team (except Minnesota who had an unusually low call up amount) had a negative or even net result from the offseason process, a bearable change by all means - but a negative overall none the less. Now what's important here is to bear in mind that while almost every player who gets called up is likely to be at least semi-active and was contributing a good player to a DSFL teams roster, there's a good chance in any given draft that 30% or more players will go IA before the end of their first season and may not be a contributor on the same level, leading to an even greater loss in active talent.

If it has not already made itself evident, my point is that the DSFL in its current state, and under its current rulebook cannot sustain all of the existing teams if the ISFL had gone ahead with a four team expansion. By all means I would agree that the ISFL is the focus of the league, but keeping the DSFL running steadily helps to improve the new player experience and gives rookies a good place to cut their teeth and learn the league.

The only way to allow for another set of teams to enter the ISFL in my eyes without contracting the DSFL would follow one of two paths:

Continued sustainable and increasing recruitment numbers

OR

Loosening of the IA rules for DSFL rosters

Either of these would create space for more teams by creating a surplus of players in both leagues, rather than directly impacting the DSFL by overextending the league's reach.

RE: (S25) - PT 1 - Opening Statements - Number 82 - 10-07-2020

The legally tamperable clause is kinda weird:
So let me start off by saying that I'm not against the existence of the clause and if you have it or looking to add one to your next contract, I really don't have any issue and it's not a shot at you. The reason why I think tamper clauses are weird is because it's a clause effectively circumvents a league rule. Looking at contacts, players who sign one year rookie deals are limited to signing for a max of 2 season in their following contract. Adding a clause such as a team, player or mutual option for year two would be a way to circumvent the limit. However, looking at the rulebook, it states that if the they opt out of year 2, their contract is effectively treated as a one year deal and as a result, they would only be able to sign for a max of 2 seasons following their rookie contract. This effectively prevents the use of an option/clause to tiptoe around the rule. Tampering is a punishable offense and it even gets its own section in the rulebook. Punishments for tampering can vary and can include a fine, loss of GM position or loss of draft picks. It seems weird to me at least that a clause could exist which effectively overwrites a league rule, especially since tampering is something that the league looks to discourage given the punishments that could potentially be handed out or have been handed out in the past.
