I may not be on a team yet in THIS league but I've played with some real GAMERS in the past.  My youth team featured Ryan FitzMAGIC and Lenard Little.  Now we obviously rarely lost.  I mean 3 losses total from 2nd grade all the way to when they stopped making us wear helmets in 8th grade.  We only ever wore helmets cause our kid skulls were not yet harder than the helmets.  My area of the rural midwest our elders bop us on the head whenever possible to help achieve this level of skull toughness.  Anywho of the times we lost was in 6th grade, and boy was Lenard mad.  He had made 12 sacks and recovered one fumble for a touchdown.  Problem was FitzMAGIC was out that game.  He had a SAT or ACT or some such college entrance test dudes brain is completely wasted on football.  After the game Lenard just sat there staring around the room and brooding while everyone took their pads off and tried to make light of the loss we were just handed.  I stayed quite cause you can feel that level of anger comin off a guy.  I didn't want that noise directed at me.  Eventually Lenard stood up and yelled "HEY", everyone stopped and looked at him.  With their attention he just says.  "Next time Ryan is out, I'm playing quarterback"

Well, since my player has yet to play an official game in any Simulation football league, im just going to tell you about the time when his university team, the RUB Ducks lost a heartbreaking game against the goddamn scrubs from Berlin. Since none of the other players from that team had made it(or will not make it) to the big leagues and are therefore irrelevant, im telling you about how Bernd talked to his team after the loss. Despite him not being a motivator.
For the people that know Bernd D. Brot know him to be depressed, grumpy, curmudeonly, constantly bad-tempered, melancholic and overall just a real fucking downer. His deep baritone voice barely inspires his team, however after that loss he truly showed he can be a leader and a person to follow for the team. All the other players were close to becoming as depressed and grumpy as Bernd, however one inspiring speech later, in which Bernd quoted Ghandi, the Power Rangers, Sailor Moon, Obama and many more, his team was more fired up than ever, out for blood coming the eventual rematch against Berlin. And oh boy did it work, in the rematch the Ducks destroyed the fucking scrubs from Berlin.

Since I’m not on a team I’ll talk about college. Have gone to the university of Arizona, our biggest rivals was Arizona state. They were always better, and they almost always won.  It not this year. We were going to win for once! We were going to give state something to think about. Well did we ever. The game was back and forth. They would go up then we would come back. Finally it was the end of the second half. We were up by three and thought we had it in the bag. Well lo and behold, they kick a 60 yard field goal to tie it. They Get the ball first in over time.March down the field and score a touchdown. Ending the game and taking our pride and our joy away. That loss really had be down. Turned to cocaine. Started selling myself for cash. Losing is a slippery slope. But I’m a sex and coke haze a vision came to me, it was. The god of thunder. And he said, come play football. So I was like ok. And now here I am. Ready to roll. Or play or shank, whatever you need. Just keep me away from the cocaine.

This needs to be prefaced - did we (the Birddogs) just lose to the London Royals in NFL overtime rules or college overtime rules? Because if it's NFL OT rules, that loss will sting even more because out offense may have not even had a chance to get out onto the field.

That aside, the heart wrenching loss we just suffered took a toll on the morale of the team, for sure. The tunnel and locker room were silent as players were processing what just happened. I think somebody kicked over a cooler. It's the worst ting to happen to a professional athlete, and you could tell by the looks of this locker room. After a while, Captain Air Bud, the only doggo capable of lifting everyone up, took the floor.

"Woof. Woof, woof."

The heartstrings of everyone were pulled at these amazing postgame remarks. Anthony MacGuire was crying after hearing such uplifting words. LaDamien Beck, my player and backup safety to the prolific pooch, was in awe.

"That's true leadership right there" was his reaction.

As everyone was packing up to get on the bus, moods were slightly improved. The loss hurt, but the comradery of the team helps lighten everyone's minds. After a while, the consensus among the team was just "beat them next time."

Go Birddogs!

I think at this point our greatest rival would have to be the New York Silverbacks. Having come into the league at the same time, each matchup with them has grown in intensity and importance, culminating in a defeat at their hands in last year's Ultimus. I have a ton of respect for what they've done in New York, but it also has come at the expense of us rising all the way to the top, so there's definitely some rivalry in there. Following this hypothetical loss to the Silverbacks, you'd see a few things. Skiuuup would be able to tell us exactly where it went wrong, while also pointing out the time that he was open and we missed him. Kaepercolin would be pretty quiet, hoping that we wouldn't bring up the costly interception that sent the game to overtime in the first place. Danny King Jr. Would be quick to point out if Danny King Sr. had missed any kicks or had a bad punt or even looked at him a little bit funny, claiming that he was the cause of all bad things in Berlin. And Schell would give some kind of broad and encouraging speech about how far we've come and how we're such a great team that everyone would probably roll their eyes at. At the end of the day, the team would gear up for the next game and get ready to kick ass - we don't lose twice in a row hardly ever, so good luck tonight, Sarasota. You're gonna need it.
