(S2) - Weekend PT #7 - Charity Fundraiser - Aenir - 08-28-2017 Today's sponsored charity is games for tots! Its a spinoff of toys for tots! Normally the charity would try to give balls, dolls, and other traditional toys, but kids nowadays are more interested in gaming systems, so we go and try to bring gaming consoles plus a few starter games (usually NSFL 17 is included) to children in need! Donations go into the communal pot which is used to purchase these systems and copies of the games plus controllers and other audio visual equipment! ALSO once a month, we surprise our charity "winner" with a brand new entertainment center, TV, the works! and to ensure they don't do anything untoward with it, we follow up with them. If they pass the follow ups, they also get season tickets to the nearest NSFL team of their choice, and an opportunity to go 1 on 1 with a player of that team in the aforementioned NSFL 17! "The look on these kids faces when you beat them down on a harder difficulty is so rough" Says QB Chris Orosz, "it makes you want to up it to the highest difficulty so you can really put the screws to them" and then I sign a jersey or two and get a photo op, the kids usually enjoy that part! (216) (S2) - Weekend PT #7 - Charity Fundraiser - WinstonKodogo - 08-28-2017 267 words The advert starts off with a black screen. "Mad World" by Gary Jules can be heard. The screen now shows a picture and the music quiets down. Standing in front of a large screen television is Philadelphia Liberty Kicker/ Punter Stephen Harris wearing a black suit and looking solemn holding his hands behind his back. "Every season of the NSFL there is one horrific stereotype that affects a whole horde of its players." He chokes up. "And that is that kickers are not real football players nor are they people." The screen next to him bursts into life and begins running footage from the second season of the NSFL. "They say we can't tackle." The televisions shows Archibald Booter attempting to tackle a punt returner and falling flat on his face. "They say we don't practise with the team and do our own thing." Footage of Cristiano Ronaldo drinking a gatorade whilst the rest of the team runs suicides. "They say they only have one job and they don't even do that job correctly." It shows Turk Turkleton missing a 30 yard field goal and Stephen Harris's blocked punt from the first season. Tears run down his face, as the music changes to be more upbeat and the television beside him shows kickers and punters doing their job well. All the 57 yard field goals and clutch kicking. "We are football players" The screen cuts to black and flashes up a picture of Stephen Harris with his long term girlfriend Dutch underwear model Myla Van der Rijst looking longingly at one another. "And we are good people." (S2) - Weekend PT #7 - Charity Fundraiser - Ben - 08-28-2017 With the Legion not making the playoffs Ardie had some time to visit his friends around the league and help out with their charity events. Here's some photos from events run by @Muford as well as @Silver Fox and a few of the other Liberty players. These were his absolute favourite events to help out with because dogs are the best. As a wise man once said; "Dogs are great, thus I like them" ![]() (S2) - Weekend PT #7 - Charity Fundraiser - JuOSu - 08-28-2017 Julian O'Sullivan spent a few hours this weekend in a local food kitchen in Washington D.C., cooking food for the poor and homeless. He thought it was a great way to give back to the city he grew up in and spent so many years in, before potentially having to move away to a different city soon after the draft. O'Sullivan made sure to be nice and friendly to everyone and gave out food for hours, talking to many of the people for longer then just a few minutes about their life stories and their experiences. He also brought 100 blankets and a few other items just in case, with winter looming around the corner and donated them to the kitchen, so that people who eat there will also stay warm. He promised to be back next year in the off-season, after his first professional season to remember where he came from and what he can do to give back to other people, also promising to donate money that can help organize for the future. Organizers were happy about the help they received and hope that the publicity of the event will lead further people to volunteer and help out in the future. |
