Spinelli has been focusing mainly on one thing, and that's his speed. He wants to make sure he's at least a step ahead of everyone on the field and, looking at the strides he's make in such a short while I think its safe to say this may be the case. Spinelli has the acceleration of a cheetah compared to most kids in the DSFL and, he's only getting faster. Now will this translate to production on the field? We will have to wait and see but, if the front line in Tijuana can make a hole for him, I think he will be able to charge through. With that in mind the blocking needs to be strong down the field as well, if anyone manages to get a good angle on Spinelli it could totally jar him. He's not use to getting hit and, no one is sure of his strength on the ball. I'd expect to see a few fumbles in this very formative year, as right now its clear his focus is raw explosiveness, but if he can develop the early its only a matter of time before the rest follows along. I'm excited to see what he can do out there.

This offseason, Liberty linebacker elected to go against the grain and take a step back from football. Last off-season Hackett lived on the practice field and the results weren't as a positive as expected. Despite posting a career-high in sacks, he fell off his tackle pace en route to being a Pro Bowl snub for the second consecutive year. Whether the diminished results were fluke or a result of genuine burnout is a question lost to history, but Hackett doesn't want to make the same mistake twice. Of course, he's keeping in shape and making sure to improve his game but, broadly speaking, this summer was spent getting his mind right.

Following the Liberty's defeat at the hands of the Baltimore Hawks, Hackett decided that before he could get better as a football player, he had to make sure everything was taken care of off the field. The hours put in in the gym took time away from his writing , so a major offseason goal was starting a short-story anthology he'd been meaning to write for ages. He also decided to double down on spending time with those closest to him. The circle got smaller, but the bonds within it were tightened. In that same spirit, he also spent alot of time just hanging out with his Liberty teammates. Despite the reputation as an unloyal contract-chaser, Hackett understands the value of chemistry, especially in a unit packed with as much potential as the Liberty's defense.

This off season, Defensive Back for the Arizona Outlaws, Franklin Harris Jr., took a weird path to training. While the rookie, now a second year player and Ultimus Cup champ, lit the league on fire with his status as the top Corner, he knew he could get better. So, he called up the teams Quarterback, King Bronko, and asked him to meet at the practice facility. Basically, Harris wanted to mimic the role of Wide Receiver. He worked with Bronko to familiarize himself with the common routes and learned what the common tells and looks are for certain plays. By doing this, Harris felt like he could really shut down his opponents better. He needed to be shutdown if he wanted to be able to step into the role of Cornerback 1 after the departure of Phillipe Carter in Free Agency and this was a step in the right direction. After working with Bronko for most of the Off-season's beginning, he learned that the team had acquired the #1 Receiver in Free Agency, Josh Garden, and decided to hit him up and see if he'd do the same work with him. By learning from two of the leagues best offensive weapons, Harris now had the tools to make even more impact than his rookie season; and thats a scary thought for the rest of the league.

(S4) - Weekend PT #1 - Off Season Program - Oles - 10-30-2017

Oles spent the offseason with a bit of a peculiar training regimen, not training in traditional methods. The star CB was invited to practice and workout with the Baltimore Orioles, his home town baseball team. As a huge fan of the Orioles growing up, from running on the field in a wiffle ball game with the Orioles mascot, to running the bases after a Sunday home game, Oles has grown up with the Orioles. Watching the Orioles go from one of the worst teams, even with players like Cal Ripken Jr, to a surprise playoff contender every season has ignited new life into this fan’s heart. When they invited him to try and an outfielder for the Orioles, after seeing his stellar play in the NSFL, it was like a dream come true for the CB. So he prepared for that, a quick turnaround from working relentlessly on football skills, Oles picked up a bat and would workout with the Orioles hitting coach 3 times a week, while working with the fielding coach 3 days a week. Working on tracking down fly balls, throwing out runners at 2nd, 3rd, and home, and eventually trying to get a home run swing in the CB’s hands, his entire offseason was spent preparing for a possible baseball career in the future. Being around players like Adam Jones, Manny Machado, and Zach Britton was a surreal experience for someone who should be used to the spotlight from his time with the Liberty. Although the team and player couldn’t work anything out, Oles will still gladly be at any O’s event if they give him a call, and has nothing but respect and admiration for the team. The skills he learning tracking down fly balls and line drives are sure to come in handy for the star CB, as he’ll be able to better track the QB’s throws in the future, and the pure sprinting ability that is needed is sure to help him as well.

Bastion spent the off-season in a variety of ways. Being an upcoming DSFL first year player, he had to first prove to GM's that he was worthy of being on their team. Thanks to his undeniable charm and perfect physique, Bastion was drafted in the first round. Now Bastion had they choice of continuing to work on his game and grow himself as a player or to give up on football and begin his life as a day trader. Needless to say, he decided to become a day trader. But, after losing all of his money in a matter of hours, he came back to football because he needs the money.

The only good news is that thanks to his many hours away from football, he had time to reflect on his life. During this period of reflection, Bastion realized that he can far and away be the best player in the DSFL if he simply puts in 25% effort. So that is what he will do. Put in 25, max 30, percent effort this year and be the best player in the league. It's pretty obvious that Bastion had a successful off-season and is ready for the season. Expect for him to use his experiences this off-season to lead to 8 games of excellent play and 8 games of "ankle injuries".
