(S10) - PT 1 - New Faces - Justice - 09-02-2018 Code: 213 words The flight to San Antonio was far shorter than Ty Justice had expected. Only a few hours. Perhaps the nerves from joining a new team made Ty wish that his flight never ended. He felt like his career was only beginning, and while he was waiting for this day to come for a long time now that it came he couldn't shake the nerves. He wasn't the only draftee heading to San Antonio, and he couldn't wait to meet his new teammates. Rice, Cobalt, Ramsey Jr., Kent, Kindle, Slick... All would be joining this new San Antonio Marshals roster. Slick being the big name QB coming into the Marshals roster, Justice knew that he would be spending a lot of bonding time with him just to build chemistry. As well as Harvey Kindle, the first wide receiver that San Antonio picked up before they secured Ty Justice in the eighth round. These are the players that Justice looked up to after following for so long leading up to the draft, and now he gets to join the team with him. Fellow prospects coming into the league together. Ty Justice couldn't wait to start the first practice with them, and he was even more excited to dominate the league with them next season too. It's the team he has been on after he joined the DSFL after the trade deadline. There have been some management changes but nothing really that major. The same old coaches are there and the other staff members also stayed the same. It's also great that Alex already knew a bit about the layout of the City so gets around rather quickly nowadays. A few player left the team because they were called up by their NSFL team to play in the big league but thankfully there are already replacement in place for these people. It's Alex's fellow draftees who will join him as members of the Coyotes organization. Alex is excited about they team and obviously the defense since a lot of draft picks have been spent on that side of the field. The defensive line should be one of the strongest units in Kansas City for the upcoming season. Alex's performances in the pre season games were decent but there is still something left to be desired by his play. Time will show what kind of player Selich will develop into but most people think he will be a good responsible Linebacker that has the ability to be an anchor on the defense. The offense looks decent too so everybody in Kansas City expect the team to make a run for the playoffs and who knows maybe they will be able to play for the Ultimini. (S10) - PT 1 - New Faces - run_CMC - 09-02-2018 Arizona has added a multitude of friendly faces in the past few seasons. From the draft has come players like star quarterback Kevin Fitzpatrick and low fliers like linebacker True Pierce, and from trades have come some like wide receiver Shadarrien LaMelllana, a promising young talent expected to make the moves to the major leagues soon. The most recent player and the one expected to make an immediate impact for the Outlaws squad? The Utah grad and Pythons star, safety Shannon Hobbs. Helping to continue the Outlaws newfound gimmick of literally never having a cornerback on the roster and instead having a bunch of safeties, Hobbs joins a dauntless but deteriorating defense demanding depth, led by the dreamy, dynamic defensiveback duo of Darren Morris and Bucky Barnes. There are no doubts that that duo will soon transform to a terrific trio - a triple threat - a trifecta of talent in the secondary, as Hobbs well rounded skillset will likely slot into the free safety position, while Barnes stays at strong safety, and Morris moves outside where his sack count will drop but his interceptions will rise. Hobbs looks to follow in the footsteps up Bucky Barnes, fellow recent Outlaws safety draftee, who just who defensive rookie of the year. The small Canadian town barely registers as a city when compared with the hustle and bustle of Silicon Valley. Practically everything revolves around the Wraiths as their main source of publicity and entertainment. These kinds of things never really meant anything to Brad Pennington, but it's certainly a departure from the secondary act the SaberCats had to play in San Jose. A team that's only a season removed from an Ultimus win has to be taken seriously, and the local populace comes out in support of their franchise in near blizzard conditions every single game. As for the team itself, Brad is reunited with his Tijuana teammates and brothers, Thad and Chad Pennington. They were never really apart of the equation for why Brad eventually ended up in the frozen wastes of the North, but they're a welcome set of familiar faces. Other than those two, nobody else inspires any sort of particular feelings for Brad. Sure you have legends like Eric Kennedy and Boss Tweed, but a connection just doesn't exist with these players Brad has only seen for 2 games a season since he's been in the NSFL. So many Otters greats have moved on to retirement, most notably players like Jordan Yates, quarterback extraordinaire Mike Boss, Marc Spector and a whole host of others that have given up the game they loved so much. Tegan Atwell was supposed to be my partner in crime this season, as we helped Gus T.T. Showbiz learn the ropes of our offense and to hopefully teach him how to lead the Otters to the next level of football, the type of football the Otters have made the norm for their players. However, Atwell chased the money, and instead of the hard work we’re going to need from our players during what will be considered a “down year” for Otters football, allegedly anyway, she’s going to play in Yellowknife. This entire point task was to be based on the new players for the new season, but other than our new bad ass running back, Ricky Adams, the entire Otters team is still in mourning over the incredible losses we’re going to endure. I can’t write about the hope of the future when the scars of what we’ve lost in the past are still so fresh. (220) |
