(S15) - PT1 - Signing Bonus - BigKicks - 05-18-2019

The kicker position, while an invaluable commodity to any team, is not paid the same as other positions, especially when you're a rookie. While a $5M 3-year contract is nothing to scoff at, being stretched across those 3 years makes it impossible to truly splurge on any purchases. One wrong move could send you into the hole. So besides for bills, housing, food, training and whatnot, I am not spending my money on anything.

It's actually a really hard thing to do. The other day I was tempted to just travel somewhere. I began looking for flights, researching hotels, considering a vast number of locations until I reminded myself that I need to save first. Today I passed by a car show and saw many sports cars, antiques, foreign cars, and wanted to buy every single one. But kickers aren't made of money. Someday I will be able to go and just buy whatever, but my budget right now prevents me from getting what I want whenever I want it.

That's not to say I DIDN'T celebrate getting drafted. With what I was willing to spend, I went out and bought a ton of pizzas and just handed them out at the park downtown. I didn't want to do anything for myself (except eat a few slices), I wanted to see others happy. Pizza is just that one universal food that makes anyone happy.

Wow I just read every reply in this thread about Point Task number 1 of Season 15 of the National Simulation Football League subtitle Signing Bonus and there was not one single reply in this thread that showcased a proper use of that kind of funding because really there's only one thing to do when you receive a signing bonus from your contract that you signed in exchange for your labor and services with a National Simulation Football League team and that is to put it into your Mass Retirement Investigation Fund or MRIF for short which is firm spelled backwards which is what I get when I think about all this fresh money allowing me to more effectively continue investigating the mystery surrounding the Las Vegas mass retirement that was led by that dastardly Keygan who forced bamboozled cajoled blackmailed and coerced ~TOTALLY ACTIVE AND CONTRIBUTING~ members of the league into retiring against their will which to be honest was pretty sickening and is a black mark on our league's history so I am incredibly disappointed in all these so called league members spending their money on anything other than bringing those responsible for the mass retirement to justice by which of course I mean painful and agonizing execution.

Jammerson Irving had never touched a football until he was well into high school, however the game that he found later in life than most had now given him financial security for the rest of his life. While only a fifth round draft pick, the signing bonus dwarfed his previous bank account and while his family much better well off financially than most Jamaicans, they would never be considered what Irving now considered himself: freaking rich.

Alas, Jammerson was also just 21 years old and had yet to earn the wisdom and temperance that many do while they age. Almost before the ink had dried, Jammerson had purchased a brand new Bentley Mulsanne with a custom paint job - Arizona Outlaws colors of course. While owning a home may have been a smart financial decision, Jammerson could not be tasked with household chores, maintenance, or really anything involving responsibility off the field, so he rented an penthouse on the top floor of a luxurious hotel downtown. To get his fledgling rap / musical production career off the ground, he heavily invested into a new music studio venture - OutlAwZ Records.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, Jammerson threw a huge party, including a caged tiger, and got really really messed up. Unfortunately, a comprising video of him ingesting substances of questionable illegality surfaced soon afterwards, but such is life for the young, rich, and stoned NSFL player.

When I received my signing bonus from the Otters, it did not take a genius to predict where I would first invest this cash. While the bonus is less than what I had hoped for, it is still an acceptable amount. Am I going to disclose right now how much I wanted for a bonus? The answer to that question is no. I understand that I will be of value to anyone, anywhere, at any time, and so does Orange County. The Otters know how great I can be and how bright my future is, so they want to do anything they can in order to keep me around these parts. I decided to buy a shit load of weed with my bonus, and an even more ridiculous amount of my own product, BLAZE BLUNTS. This bonus is money well spent, so now I don’t need to spend a dime from my normal balance towards all the weed I want, which means I can buy other stuff like foods or video games. I am also considering purchasing a private hit man to take care of some problems I have with the San Jose Sabercats, I can’t get by those guys, so I think I may put some cash towards fixing that problem for good.

When Nero Alexander received the call that he was being drafted in the first round by the Yellowknife Wraiths, money was the last thing on his mind. He immediately started thinking about how to help his team win, which meant he was willing to take a relatively small contract ($7 million over 3 seasons). Obviously, while small compared to some of his peers, this is still a huge amount of money and would be life-changing for Nero if he hadn't already earned millions from his media empire.

He decided to use his new $3 million rookie salary to settle into his new city. In Yellowknife, housing is very cheap because there are no people who want to live there. Once he had locked down his extravagant, yet surprisingly inexpensive, apartment, he decided to join his new teammate Ryan Leaf Jr in his philanthropic efforts. He donated $1 million to local food banks and homeless shelters to make sure that, like the Wraiths, no citizen of Yellowknife ever freezes. He also purchased several hundred dollars' worth of Tim Hortons donuts and coffee to give to those in need in the local community, because he was new to Canada and didn't realize that Tim Hortons is actually pretty shitty. Nero looks forward to continuing to grow as a part of the Yellowknife community!

Tony Gabagool was drafted number 22 overall by the Colorado Yeti. He was able to negotiate a contract that made both him and the team happy. His signing bonus was generous, and he was finally able to buy a house for himself in Boulder, Colorado. For him, it reminded him of his winters up in Whistler growing up on the B.C. coast. Although football has been his love for most of his life, his proverbial "side chick" has always been fresh pow. He was able to negotiate a clause in his contract that allowed him to shred the mountain during the offseason with no risk of release or public shaming. He is already looking forward to his first offseason.

Of course, Gabagool will be investing some of his signing bonus into a new restaurant group as well. "Gabagool" is an Italian deli chain that focuses on high quality cured meats. The delis will be in B.C, Oregon, Colorado, and Florida where Tony has already made a name for himself. He is hoping his name will help jump start the business to success. His mother always taught him to invest his cash so investing in the delis and property is a good start for this young stud.
