I don't quite remember when it started. I think maybe S7? But since that seasons Ultimus, which saw the Philadelphia Liberty defeat the Orange County Otters, the morning after the winning team has to streak in their boxers (or briefs) from their hotel rooms and run all the way to the nearest breakfast serving location. Like a breakfast restaurant, not like hotel lobby breakfast.

There, they will find suits and ties accommodating each and every player. After they all throw these clothes on, they get 20 minutes to eat their breakfast before they are each handed an envelope with different tasks that they must do. Each envelope task is unique. One might say "purchase 20 different fruits from a supermarket" another might say "pet a cat and dog simultaneously and photo this". All of these different things require proof, that's the important part. Oh I forgot to mention everyone is wearing sunglasses.

After everyone completes their scavenger hunt style task, they all must meet at the same parking garage. The first 16 players to make it to the parking garage are qualified to participate in a tournament. The game varies from ultimus to ultimus. The very 1st time this occured, it was a ping pong tournament. There's also even been Magic The Gathering, Halo, & Rock Paper Scissors etc etc. It's a great time. Once there are only 2 participants remaining, it's usually night time and everyone then meets up at an agreeable restaurant.

Everyone chows down, and at the 2 players must take turns reading poetry that they have written to each other. The team then votes on who's poetry was the finest, and that person gets to keep the official Ultimus trophy for the year. And also money I guess. This isn't necessarily a battle, many players have won by being very complimentary to the opposite opponent and to the team. Many spectators come out to these poetry slams, and even celebrities and high rollers want in. At around S16, sports networks began televising these remarkable events.

While Asher Quinn hasn’t won an Ultimus or Ultimini he has been extremely close several times with the Baltimore Hawks and Minnesota Grey Ducks, so he’s got this whole thing planned out when he wins his first Ultimus.
It starts with popping the bubbly and smoking cigars with all my teammates in the locker room. Once we’ve had our fun in the locker room and done all our media commitments, we’re going to paint the town red, hitting the up all the best bars and clubs in the town. We’re talking bottle service and huge thousand-dollar bar tabs. It would probably be a miracle if anyone got any sleep that night. Following up after that Asher is going to use all 10 days’ worth of free stays at the EDBD BNB, where he is a 2%-part owner. In those 10 days Asher is going to relax, have a few drinks, get some massages, just use that time to recover after a long ruthless season. At some point the we will have to return back and the city is going to throw everyone in the organization a championship parade and ring ceremony to celebrate the all the hard work we do and all the great things the NSFL/DSFL team do for their cities.

As a player who has studied the history of the teams I’ve played for I know a few traditions of the teams. When it comes to San Antonio (my first team) the whole team would ride through the city of San Antonio on Horseback throughput the main route of the city all the way to the Townhall. There they would all declare their time for the draft when it came to rookies and the send downs would cheer on their team and their future plan. The Coyotes on the other hand would visit whatever team they defeated in the Ultmini and camp out with fans in their stadium before getting up in the morning and flying to Washington DC to celebrate with the team and maybe if they are lucky a meal of McDonalds. Now onto the New Orleans Second Line where they would party like it’s Mardi Gras and instead of collecting hoops of beads it would be necklaces with the letter “W” all around so the world knew how many wins they got that season and who was number one. Austin hasn’t won a ultimus yet but I would presume they would just smash their heads with rocks until they stopped moving. San Jose just lays around and does nothing like modern day house cats
