There is no doubt that the Minnesota Grey Ducks will be returning with one of the top offenses in the DSFL in S22. They retained Zack Vega and Baby Yoda, two of the most productive players last season. But after losing their top defensive players to the draft or retirement, the Grey Ducks had a massive need to address their defense in the draft in order to defend their Ultimini championship. And they did just that.

Taking Buck Thornton in the first round and Sebastian Vettel in the second, the Grey Ducks immediately filled the hole left by Matt Murphy after his retirement. Then they jumped on Mo “Mamba” Magic in the third and Lawrence Bass in the fourth. All four of these players have been extremely active so far and are looking to make an impact in the DSFL right away.

Magic and Thornton racked up a ton of TPE right off the bat, writing articles and doing podcasts. Vettel and Bass got off to a little slower start prior to the first update, but have ramped up the production and will be making a huge leap going into their second week as DSFL players. These four players, along with the rest of Minnesota’s deep draft class, will be the impact players that the Grey Ducks need in order to repeat as Ultimini champions.

Mark my words, the San Jose Sabercats are on their way to greatness. They’ve made several massive additions this offseason due to their excellent drafting, and I think that it really will pay off for them this year. Their inability to stop the run last year really did hurt them. To remedy this, they took the best defensive tackle in the draft, Otis Allen, at 2OA. I have no doubts that Allen will repay that faith with a big year Against the air, which they desperately needed help against, they drafted cornerback HeHateMe PickSix (at 4OA), who will have an immediate impact in the San Jose secondary. While they might still struggle this year against offensively stacked teams, they are on their way to being one of the better defenses in the league.

Offensively, the team made some of the best impact picks in the draft. At 12OA, they took Leon McDavid, who was one of the most coveted players coming into the draft. As the tight end position continues to evolve and get deeper and deeper, it pays in dividends to have a great talent at that position. That is what Leon McDavid is. Nothing but upside here. Now in terms of the ground game, the Sabrecats also stole away Lando Cardissian in the draft, who had a fantastic season in the DSFL. The team now has a one-two punch with Quindarius Tyerucker – a formula that has found success for many different teams in the NSFL over the years.

The years haven't been kind to the Sabercats. Our overall TPE is the worst in the league, and I've even seen a couple of posts, in jest hopefully, saying we'd have trouble against the Buccaneers. But, man was the Season 21 Draft kind to us. We had two of the first four picks in the draft, and we got some big help at positions of need. Otis Allen at #2 will be a great pick alongside Brayden Ennis and Freezer Riposte, and HeHateMe PickSix is already our best corner and has the skills to develop into a shutdown corner. At #12, we got our tight end of the future in Leon McDavid. The Sabercats have always had a knack for developing tight ends, so McDavid will be in great hands. Next at #22 is Chip Otle, who we'll stash for a bit, and make him the heir apparent to Riposte. And finally, at #32, we've got Rando Cardrissian, a running back with a ton of upside. Quindarius Tyerucker has been good for us, but Rando might be something really special, and I wouldn't be shocked if he became the lead back for us sooner rather than later.

Sometimes it's said a great program doesn't rebuild, it reloads. The Minnesota Grey Ducks may not have even needed to do that. Coming off of back to back DSFL championships the Ducks may have expected to lose QB Vega and RB Yoda, but the dynamic pair will return. But what new blood will be enhancing an already red hot offense?

The defense may have gotten the biggest upgrades. Bo Jangles at CB is already turning heads with his speed and knowledge of the game. Mo Magic is an up and coming DT who looks to be developing the strength to push around any offensive lineman in the DSFL and the speed to lock down cut back lanes. Safety Buck Thornton has center fielder speed and the heart to stay on the field down after down. Rounding out the backfield newcomers is fellow safety Sebastian Vettel, who always seems to be in the right place at the right time.

On offense the needs were less immediate, but there will be an impact as well as some picks made with an eye to the future. Jamar Lackson may have been brought in under the assumption that Baby Yoda would be moving on to the NSFL, but the Ducks management must be salavating at the idea of having him, Yoda and Skuff all rushing out of one backfield. He's quick, with the power to burst through any size hole. Sim SnowBow comes in at QB, hoping to be groomed once Vega makes the big jump to the NSFL, while Shawn Ansari should see good rotational time at tight end.

The Ducks are primed for another big year, with returning stars and fresh new blood to bolster the defense.

Much ink has been spilled over the blue-chip DBs that Portland acquired during the draft's initial rounds but let us not forget the love they showed the big guys. Once their more pressing needs were addressed, the Python's invested heavily and repeatedly in offensive linesmen, the most luxurious of NSFL draft picks. Many consider the offensive linesman a redundant piece, whose benefit isn't worth the resources saved from using a line of bots. Portland would clearly disagree. The Pythons drafted four linesmen in the second fifty picks, beginning with the two top linesmen in the class: the veteran recreate Byron Dolls and Tommy Sacamano (with a name like that, how could he not be great at football?). In the ensuing OL fire-sale the Pythons managed to snag the well-rounded Fernando Cruz before, twenty picks later, picking up yours truly to round out their core of active lineman. Near the tail end of the draft, Portland spent late round flyers on Julius Augustus and Toshihide Matsumoto, to provide depth and deprive other teams of precious line-fodder. By the time the dust had settled; Portland had drafted six out of the eleven available offensive linesmen, making them the only DSFL team to draw a full hand of Fair Rubs (plus a spare to keep up their sleeve). Having by far-and-away the most stacked offensive line in the league is going to be an enormous boon for the Pythons in S21, the competitive advantage being especially deep against the four teams that failed to draft a single big guy. The Pythons took a risk by showing the big guys so much love, but unlike bots we can feel that love and we're gonna send it right back.

Austin had a great draft and continued the tradition of shunning free agency and instead building their team from the base up though the draft. So through this I will look at those we got through the draft. Austin have sent down a number of players but our first 2 picks have stayed up and are ready to make an instant impact for the team. Firstly there is Riles McTackles the defensive tackle. Riles was a beast in his year in the DSFL and plugs straight into the Austin line up replacing John-Caleb Bradburton who has been slacking over the past couple of years. McTackles has a great opportunity to learn from Austin’s ageing sack monster Kuusela. The other plug and play starter Austin drafted was linebacker Holden Summers. Summers has replaced the now traded Bakshi had has it the ground running winning defensive player of the game in his opening game for Austin getting 6 tackles and 2 sacks playing out of WLB. Last I would like to talk about the players we have sent down Gregor McGregor and Tree Glebman. Both these players are set to have amazing futures in Austin we will just have to wait a season before we se them in action, but their positive presence in the locker room is already being felt.

I will be honest, I do not remember which free agents we took so what I will focus on is what that leaves me with and that is instead focusing on the draftees. I have always preached how the core of the Colorado Yeti were soon to really hit and hurt the league when we are hitting our prime and that time is basically now. What we now need to make sure we have is a future core like these current stars were.

I was shocked to hear I am third overall in TPE for Wide Receivers but now we have our future Wide Receiver that will do what I did to James Bishop and replace him once the TPE beats him.

We have a lot of great talent and personally think we had one of the better drafts. The next draft being super important too cause that will make sure we are able to have an even better future core in the Yeti.

With these guys we might just be able to go and win a championship finally or at least contend for a ring. I know everyone in the Yeti really wants one so with our best players really looking good now would be the time. It will be interesting to see if we can pull it off.

Ugarth's team, the Tijuana Luchadores, brought in many new players via the draft. Ugarth will now name some of them, and discuss things about them that Ugarth finds amusing.

Ozamataz BUCKshank. What a name! Had Ugarth not known better, he might think that Ozamataz comes from his homeland. He is apparently a zone cornerback, whatever that means. Ugarth hope he ready to compete physically in a contest of mak'gora.

Ben Slothlisburger. Somehow, someway, Ugarth know this man from another time. Another life. This man is not one to be trifled with, there's a power and an air about him. He plays like me, reckless and with passion! Not the smartest, but him clever. Ugarth will protect him by relentlessly sacking him in the battle drills our coaches make us do, just to toughen him up for the real enemy.

Corpse Grinder. NOW THIS IS AN ORC! Ugarth think team play joke on him by paint orc in a palid white. With a name like Corpse Grinder, Ugarth will be happy to play beside this man. Another linebacker, just like Ugarth, he's big and fast and strong like me. Not as good looking, though.

Julio Tirta.... Tirwit... Tirwitchadijgerido? Julio T. He's a running back, a little runt of a man built like a cannon ball! Ugarth approves! This man, however small he may be, is fast and quick like the tip of a spear, able to sneak between the creases between men like the tip of a spear. He can change directions quickly... like... uh... the tip of a spear. He can also do other things, like catch the ball, Ugarth guess. But mostly he STABS THE ENEMY IN THE GUT! AHAHAHAHAHA!

Norfolk has an incredibly reinvigorated defensive unit this year, having added incredible value in players like Thubba Bumper, Magnus Rikiya, Matt Cross and other. Thubba is a speedy and agile corner and kick return specialist. His ability to read plays and shadow receivers will be instrumental in keeping the enemy offenses off the field. Magnus is a hefty D lineman that can beat O linemen and get at the quarterback on a consistent basis. And when Magnus doesn't make it into the backfield, he's generally being double teamed, allowing other players a mismatch. Like Matt Cross for example. He's a speedy and intelligent safety who is confident in coverage and has the vision to surge forward on blitzes and beat the edge guards. On top of these defensive pieces, Norfolk added to their offense with receiver Kevin Koh, a pacey weapon with the route skills to leave defenders in the dust and the size to be a red zone threat. New QBs Luke Skywalker and Suleiman Ramza will be looking to wrangle the job from good ol Cal, and they look good value for it, although both need much more time to develop. With these tools in hand the GMs at Norfolk are going to be able to put together a stalwart ground-and-pound team that will be able to generate turnovers and dominate possession.
