For some the Hall serves as a shrine to the best players in the game - players that upheld the spirit of and values of the league while also performing at an extraordinary high level. For others, the Hall serves as a museum to honor the history of the league and the players that were integral to its development, evolution, and success. I fall into the latter camp in how I view the Hall, which is one of the reasons I think that Jayce Tuck deserves to be in the Hall of Fame despite his infamous history in the league. Although it has been approximately eight seasons since his retirement Tuck is still omnipresent on NSFL leaderboards. His career sack total of 106 is the fourth highest in league history and the third oldest set within the top 10. His career tackles for loss stand at an astounding 113 - the highest on the list and 15 higher than the next closest. Both of these records have stood the test of time despite new players coming into the league with an increasing amount of knowledge on how to train and build themselves into a success. I do have to acknowledge the elephant in the room, however. Jayce Tuck was suspended for the entirety of season 5 for his role in one of the most infamous scandals in league history. Although this is a negative item on Tuck's resume it is impossible to write the history of the league without talking about such scandals and his stat records still stand to this day, making him have a strong case for inclusion within the Hall. (S21) - PT2 - Hall of Fame - Muford - 03-20-2020 One player that really deserves to be in the Hall of Fame is none other than Vincent Sharpei. He finished his career back in Season 9, coming off of a Ultimus Win with the New Orleans Second Line. He helped bring that team together, helping recruit Bayley Benson and Darren Smallwood, as well as leading the league in tackles that season. Vincent Sharpei also went to lead the league in tackles, or was top two, for most of his seasons at Linebacker. Remember, Sharpei came from playing Offensive Line in Season 1 through Season 3. He brought an energy to the field that was unmatched and was easily one of the best linebackers of that era. The only “issue” some voting people had were that Sharpei didn’t play long enough. There were many conversations in General Managers Chat about Sharpei and if he should or should not be Hall of Fame, and it always felt as if it was a 50/50 call. Vincent Sharpei should have been in the hall of fame, and was a huge snub, sadly, we will now never see him make the Hall of Fame and there isn’t much to do about it. Vincent brought a lot of competitiveness for the New Orleans Second Line team, and was apart of the best linebacking trio, ever. Most people immediately jump to older, sometimes forgotten about players. However one player that has managed to avoid that stigma is Kazimir Oles. Retiring only two seasons ago, Oles was a superstar in the league and loved my hundreds of thousands of fans. His long list of career achievements includes. Number six all time in receiving yards with 11,254. Ninth all time in career touchdowns with 71. Dozens of playoff wins and multiple ultimus championships. What makes Oles special is his notoriety, he was the face of the NSFL for years. Like Michael Jordan, Tom Brady or Wayne Gretzky , Kazimir was recognized and idolized. The San Jose Sabercats have not seen the same kind of success without him. Kazimir Oles is a shoe in hall of fame candidate to anyone you ask. The praise is well deserved, as there has yet to be another player like him. Kids all around the country now shout “Oles!” Whenever they catch impossible balls in pickup games. NSFL rookies often acredit Oles as their reason for joining the league, and who they aspire to not only match, but surpass on the leaderboards. With that kind of reputations it will be hard to get him into the hall of fame soon enough (S21) - PT2 - Hall of Fame - Warner - 03-20-2020 Written Option: The Hall of Fame is a very selective group of players that is strictly reserved for the best of the best to ever play in this league, in every position. Sometimes, however, the Hall of Fame ends up overlooking some of the true greats of this league, who not only did well on the stat-sheet, but had other notable accomplishments that should definitely make them locks for induction. One of these players is, of course, Kazmir Oles. Not only does Oles rank in the top ten of all-time in both receiving yards and touchdowns, but he’s also the all-time NSFL leader in earned TPE. If you’re looking for an example of a player who was truly dedicated and focused on the league during his career, Oles is the first player that should come to mind. The Hall of Fame shouldn’t be just entirely based on stats, but should also take in other accomplishments into account. It should be a monument used to honor the users and players that went above and beyond in this league, not only the ones that were lucky enough to be favored by a fundamentally flawed simulation engine that is generally very flawed with its results. I hope that the committee is wise enough to disregard whatever stat-based criteria they have, and induct Oles, along with other high-earners and notable overachievers the next time the selection period comes around. With little searching around, one player that I noticed that could be consider for the hall of fame is wide receiver Xavier Flash. There isn't many wide recievers that are included in the hall of fame and I figured Flash could easily make it there. He was the first overall pick in the NSFL in the season 9 draft and played professionally for San Jose and his final season for Yellowknife but ultimately signed a one day contract with San Jose.During his career, both in the DSFL and NSFL, Flash brought in 600 catches for 10,150 yards and 74 touchdowns but excluding stats, Flash had a few accolades to his name, which includes two-time DSL Wide receiver of the year, 2 ASFC Pro bowls and a season 14 Ultimus Championship. A surprising stat is that Xavier Flash did not drop a single pass in the last seven years of his career, I think that alone is super impressive where he deserves the argument for best hands ever in the NSFL history. In conclusion, based on Flash's stats and some of his few accolades, he should be included in the Hall of Fame. Code: 218 words (S21) - PT2 - Hall of Fame - Ryan0413 - 03-21-2020 PBE PT |
