(S22) - PT3 - Boom or Bust - KillKillKill - 05-14-2020 In an effort to not ruffle any feathers, since Honda is a drama free athlete, I’ll say myself. I, Honda Edmond, am the biggest draft bust of all time. I don’t think I’m honestly out of bounds with this answer either. Austin traded up into the first round of the season 17 draft to get me from the Otters. The Copperheads were a new team looking for foundational pieces to lead them into the future. Now don’t get me wrong, I love the fact that they felt so highly of me that they traded some pieces to move up and grab me, but my own high expectations of myself won’t allow me to accept that it was the best move. Don’t ask me who I would have selected, I don’t really remember who else in my draft was on that level, but I have to think that there was something better. I’ll admit I am a solid player, but worthy of a new team trading up to get me? I just can’t be sure. I am still trying to change my own perception of my draft viability, and I am trying to live up to it. I’m my own biggest critic so I fear I’ll never be satisfied though. And speaking of myself I believe that I am one of the biggest draft busts in recent time. I started in this league as a semi active DT in the DSFL draft that came a max earner after being drafted, but if only it stayed that way. I was picked 4th overall in the S17 NSFL draft by the Baltimore Hawks just time be traded to the New Orleans Second Line less than 1 round of picks after I was selected. Not the best start but doesn’t mean much. After only one season in New Orleans I was traded to the Austin Copperheads for off the field actions and only after another season with Austin Ennis was cut. Not often do you see a player who gets picked so high play for 3 teams In 2 seasons. Off the field wise Ennis was never in a good moment being punished by the league for Tampering two times which didn’t help him stay with a team. Stat wise he was never special either as he’s never even qualified for a pro bowl even though he’s started every year he’s played in the league (S22) - PT3 - Boom or Bust - Attopax - 05-14-2020 In Season 7, Ryan Lefevre was selected 5th Overall. He never earned TPE post-draft. Other (better) selections are always identified in hindsight, but you cannot put too much weight in that since Front Office Staff cannot see the future. However, when someone is selected as a top draft pick, you at least expect them to bring value – any value. When an individual functionally “holds out” and “retires” immediately following their selection, literally any other activity equates to more value from the pick, even if they had traded their pick for the last pick in the draft. The same can be said for “character issues” and other intangibles. If teams had interviews with players prior to playing or other metrics by which to judge character and compatibility, than perhaps my argument would be different. However, any players that fell short of their potential or went inactive at least provided *some* value to the team. But when analyzed from the metric of “how did this draft pick set the franchise back?”, it functionally resulted in a team with a top selection as never having picked a player at all. And just to add insult to injury, a salary cap hit to boot. Colorado could have deferred their pick until the last pick in the draft and donated cap space to charity and still gotten better value. In conclusion, the reason I selected this player is because he had no progress following selection and was the highest selection in this category. Code: 248 Words (As an aside, I’d like to thank infinitempg for providing some references for us new players who would lose out on this opportunity absent some history lessons from veterans. Also, I apologize to Mr. Lefevre should he ever return, but… this is the prompt and analysis is analysis, yes?) (S22) - PT3 - Boom or Bust - NicholasTheGreat - 05-14-2020 For my own personal views, one of the biggest busts of all time has to be Heath Evans. The Tight End was recently selected in the most recent draft, the season 22 National Simulation Football League draft. He is a Tight End and has proven to be a waste of time for the Arizona Outlaws. On the season so far, Heath Evans has proven to be one of the worse receivers on the roster and has been outperformed by the other wide receivers on the roster. In addition to his receiving stats, he has allowed star Quarterback Jay Cue to get sacked several times in pivotal moments leading to several heartbreaking losses for the Arizona Outlaws. To summarise my points, Heath Evans has poor receiving form, has had blocking problems and has been single handedly responsible for several defeats this season. In addition to his poor performances on field, Heath Evans has been disappointing on a fantasy football field as well. He has disappointed any owner that drafted him due to his lack of touchdowns. There are several better scoring players than Heath leading to him being a bust in fantasy football. Overall Heath Evans is a bust on the regular playing field and the fantasy football field. (jk, I love you) (S22) - PT3 - Boom or Bust - Kyamprac - 05-15-2020 I have been with the league for less than one day now, so I'm probably not the best source of information for the worst draft pick of all time (I barely know what I'm doing here lol). However.. I have it on good authority that Marcella Tōriki dashed a few hopes and dreams not long after being drafted. Tōriki was drafted fifth overall in the 2033 NSFL Draft by the San Jose Sabercats. Over the course of one season, she showed a lot of promise and eventually worked her way up to taking on a starring role in the Sabercat offence. The young running back showed so much growth that she earned accolades as the season's Offensive Rookie of the Year. After the Sabercats invested time and effort into her development, Tōriki crushed their expectations for a bright future by bouncing in free agency to the New Orleans Second line after playing just one season. Adding insult to injury, Tōriki signed with the New Orleans Second Line, a team that already had a stellar running back in Forrest Gump. New Orleans played both running backs and became pretty beasty.. which seemed to miff a lot of people. So I guess that makes this a pretty big bust for San Jose! (although super awesome for NOLA) Code: 215 Words (Thanks Bex ![]() (S22) - PT3 - Boom or Bust - juicychase - 05-15-2020 The worst draft pick of all time was made in the Season 17 draft by the Yellowknife Wraiths. With the 56th pick of the draft, the Wraiths select Kicker Darius Ruckerberg from the San Antonio Marshalls. Ruckerberg was the last pick of the draft, making him Mr. Irrelevant. Not a good start to his career. Ruckerberg played his college ball at the University of Illinois where he was one of the most inaccurate kickers in division 1 college football. He made only 3 of 34 attempts in his time at Illinois and missed 8 extra points as well. The Wraiths were desperate for some consistency at kicker so they took a gamble on Ruckerberg, hoping that their special teams coaches could turn his game around. This proved to be disastrous. Ruckerberg was so uncoordinated that his plant foot slipped out from under him on half of his field goal attempts. In the second practice, he shanked a ball so far left that it hit the General Manager's wife in the face and broke her nose causing her to need several reconstructive surgeries. Ruckerberg was so bad that he didn't even see 1 snap in the NSFL. His career was disappointing from the start and the Wraith's wasted a valuable 6th round pick on his sorry ass. (S22) - PT3 - Boom or Bust - Mongoose87 - 05-15-2020 Biggest bust of all time? Why don't you ask me a hard one. Everyone knows to the biggest bust ever was Brave Ulysses. That chump was such a waste of space, let alone a draft pick. I ask you, who spends a real NSFL draft pick on an offensive lineman, when you get a bunch of bots to do it, with no picks expended? Why would you even create as an OL unless you were deranged and obsessed with the least interesting part of football - but I repeat myself. There are two big payoffs for players in sim leagues: team success and personal stats. Since, as mentioned above, teams get freebie bot linemen, an offensive lineman player does not contribute to team success. And, since Offensive linemen basically get no personal stats, they don't have any payoff whatsoever. Don't try to tell me that watching them play can be satisfying. We've all watched the sim, we all know how ugly it is. You can't see the quick feet of the left tackle or the guard's sick pull to seal off the EDGE on an outside run. That soon sim is neither that detailed nor that watchable. To conclude, any offensive lineman is a waste of a draft pick. That pick can always be used to draft an actually useful player. By being a drafted offensive lineman, Ulysses automatically is the maximum waste possible for that pick, and therefore the biggest possible bust. (S22) - PT3 - Boom or Bust - tMuse - 05-15-2020 Phew hard task as I am still pretty new to the league but thanks to infinitempg I just picked one of the players of his list and took a deeper look at Oskar Ludvig. 6 overall pick for the Colorado Yetis. Somehow Ludvig thought "hey first round pick? Let's go IA!" No idea how that could happend and I bet it sucks pretty hard. I mean sure, with only 2 CBs in the whole class you go for the one with the most TPE. But if you had that magic crystal ball, damn, just pick Daquan Richardson in a later round and get a solid active player. But back to Oskar Ludvig. My man just played 5 games. Imagine that, 5 games for a first round pick and thats it. In those 5 games he made 13 tackles, 1 tackle for yard loss and 1 pass defense. Nothing too impressive to be honest. Let's break it down to stats per game. That would be 2.6 tackles, 0,2 tackle for yard loss and 0,2 pass defense per game. Compared to Daquan Richardson (pick 21 overall btw): 14 games, 51 tackles, 1 tackle for yard loss and 14 pass defense. Per game that means 3.64 tackles, 0,07 tackle for yard loss and 1 pass defense. If we only take a look at those stats it's already pretty easy to say that Daquan would've been the better pick. Daquan also has 1 FF/FR and made 5 INTs. Sucks to be colorado that season.
