Here are some various arguments around the league that I can make with at least some evidence.

-TomHanks' next player should be named Sherriff Woody.-
With Forrest Gump winding down his career it's time to look to the future. And the future should clearly be the next. beloved character in the Tom Hanks filmography. Woody has been a culture touchstone on an even larger scale than Forrest Gump is and also performed many feats of great athletics. He's quite well versed in games, he's a tactician and leader, he's a child psychologist, and he has worked with pigskin before. Mr AND Mrs.

-Muford's player John Smirh should meet a woman whose last name is Noff and have a child.-
Said child should be his next player, with the last name Smirh-Noff. Now...some might say you can't really prove this argument, but I feel like making people realize that a universe consistent legacy player named Smirh-Noff is a possibility should count as its own argument.

-Marquis Brown leaving Philly in free agency is one of if not the funniest event in league history.-
So to set the stage for those who may not recall or weren't here, Marquis Brown was drafted by Philly, made the focal point of their offense, set league records right away, and then left to go to Baltimore the second his rookie contract ended. His main stated reason was to become an Ultimus contender, which he felt Philly was not. Philly won the Ultimus that season. I argue that for irony, karma, and general chirp needs, this was one of the absolute funniest events in league history.

A case for … removal of the forums?

Yes, that’s right, I’m arguing that we don’t need forums anymore and can simply reside solely based on discord. Here are the facts: the gross majority of the ISFL community is on discord, Discord presence is the number one engagement for many members, forums are largely unwieldable mammoths to try and find something in, all information in the forum could be better located elsewhere, and finally, it is not 1999.

Most components of the ISFL held on the forum have gradually drifted away to user created applications – from banking bots to media alerts, from Dotts playing cards to fantasy football. It is a nature progression of innovation and ease of use. The inevitability of the demise of the forum is clear, it’s only a matter of time and perseverance by the creators and innovators of the ISFL.

So, what is holding us back? Two main features, one of which would be a substantially larger undertaking. That is user updates and media pieces. Graphics could easily find a discord home, while the other functions mostly do already. And media has a fix – outsourcing to a more 2020 medium such as the subreddit. But user updates would require a significant application, most likely custom created, with necessary discord integrations for maximum ease of use. That is the mountain to climb for modernizing the league.

Since this is such an open ended PT I’m going to list who I think belongs on the ISFL All time defensive line. This line will feature four players, two true defensive ends and two true defensive tackles. This defensive line will also feature players from every decade of the ISFL, from the wild west early days to the contemporary era. Our first name on the list is the infamous player in league history, Jayce Tuck. Tuck is one of the most decorated players in history, he has two MVPs, three defensive lineman of the year awards, and two defensive player of the year awards. He currently sits 1st all time in tackles for loss and 4th all time in sacks. At the opposite defensive end spot I’ll go with Nero Alexander. He is a current player who has a few seasons left. He’s currently sitting 2nd all time in tackles for loss and is projected to shatter the career record. He also has a defensive lineman of the year award in his trophy cabinet. At one of my defensive tackle spots I have to go with the ISFL sack king Dan Miller. In just 9 seasons he recorded 132 sacks, the most by 18. He earned two defensive lineman of the year awards and 1 defensive player of the year award. Finishing off this GOAT defensive line is Thorian Skarsgard. This two time defensive lineman of the year finished off his incredible career 5th all time in sacks, with 102. (251 words)

Casino and betting should not have a place in ISFL. I will be backing this statement up with logic. If I'm not completely mistaken professional athletes are not allowed to bet on the league they play in, perhaps it goes deeper than just one league, but the main point is that there is a clear conflict of interest as some users might get their hands on information that gives them an unfair advantage. If we look at a league like ISFL that advantage will lead to some users being able to build better players if they win it big at the casino or in betting.

There is also the point of ''giving money'' away to a friend who might need a little help in the future. Betting offers a nice way to do it as users can bet against or with other users.

In the bigger picture, I don't think a league like ISFL should promote gambling in any way as it can lead to addiction, and who knows what else if some users start to believe they are great at it after doing well in ISFL. I don't know how old the average user is in ISFL, but I'm going to take a wild guess and say there is fair number of young users in here, for that reason casino and betting should be removed.

Well, since you asked. I was considering making an article and actually doing research on how many times harassment has actually been punished in the league. In the past there have been a massive amount of claims, and a large amount of evidence to back up those claims, of targeted harassment and generally toxic people in the community. It’s just something that’s been a problem for the past 3+ years. You didn’t say we had to actually gather the evidence, but from simple personal experience I’ve only ever seen one harassment punishment ever issued: The Bex Thunderdome Scandal. All other times I’ve seen complaints about harassment, they’ve never really been met with any sort of force. The only time it was met with actual punishment was when it was against the person in charge of the league. But I’m not even blaming her here because it seems like a cultural issue. More people were concerned with victim blaming her, so much so that they had to have a vote to see if they’d keep her after having her privacy invaded. But there’s been plenty of other cases that I’ve seen where those in charge just gave a “stern talking to” to the offender and more than 80% of the time they’ve just gone back to doing what they were doing (see Boomcheck’s “Curious Case of” series and literally everything Archon did). There have been countless pleas from GMs and HO to “Be Nice”, but there seems to be an active disinterest in enforcing the “Be Nice” rules. So my argument here is that HO needs to take harassment more seriously. It’s kind of been my platform whenever there’s discussion about changes to the way the league is run. Maybe a lot of my feelings on the issue come from a selfish place as I consistently bring up my own issues with feeling harassed, but I've seen enough comments from others talking about how certain people are toxic and are somehow allowed to just continue being a dick. I'm not suggesting a massive crackdown on speech, but we can't keep pretending there's consequences when there aren't any consequences.

RE: (S25) - PT 1 - Opening Statements - ajtigger - 10-07-2020

My opening statement is: Jackie Daytona will win the DSFL offensive player of the year award for season 25. My case rests on the fact that Myrtle Beach provides Daytona with a plethora of weapons for the passing attack. Reed, Mcjimmerson, and Crossley are all capped players this season are are likely to wreak havoc on opposing defenses. Combine this with what projects to be a lackluster run game and the Buccaneers are likely to be airing it out all season. Daytona himself has reached the DSFL cap so he will be ready to take advantage of his team. Due to the strength of the passing attack and relative weakness of the running game, the general managers of the Buccaneers will have no choice but to adapt a passing attack to give their team the best chance to win. Daytona will be able to pad his stats all season in this system.

The other factor working in Daytona's favor is the Buccaneers defense. While the team boasts a strong secondary, the front seven does look like they may have some holes this season. Since the DSFL is a run first league, I expect this to cause problems for Myrtle Beach. The team will be consistently playing from behind and forced to pass the ball. This will work favorably in Daytona's favor as he will put up tons of stats but also lead comebacks that are sure to garner support in his campaign for offensive player of the year.

So there you have it, bet all your money on Dayton for OPOY

RE: (S25) - PT 1 - Opening Statements - DApolloS - 10-07-2020

I've seen some predictions for this DSFL season showing the DSFL defending champions, The London Royals, missing the playoffs, and in some instances, being one of the worst teams in the league (I'm guessing due to the amount of high caliber players they lost to ISFL call ups). I don't believe that to be true.

The Royals did a great job replenishing positions they needed to fill, grabbing 2 talented WRs im the draft, one of their most pressing needs as all of their WRs got called up, they also took an alright LB (I won't pump my own tires, im not that kind of person), another position of need with only 1 LB left on their roster down from 4. They also took one of the most talented players in the draft, DE Ernest Lover.

This team will win with what wins championships: solid defense. Their defense will support their top QB and keep scores low to give him and the rest of the offense the opportunity needed to try and win games. I doubt very much we'll see a blow out loss this season for London as their defense is just too strong at almost every position.

I'm going to go one step further and say London will be in the Ultimini Championships this year, and could even win the whole thing!
